So I have a response from the vet at work about Leroy. He has two thoughts: heart problem or foreign body ingestion like bone or string. Now Leroy does eat commerical raw food (NV brand) and it has tiny bones in it. Maybe he's just occasionally getting a bone fragment stuck in his throat?? Even though these episodes happen a few hours after eating? Emma eats the same raw food but doesn't pant/lip smack. Maybe girls are just dainty eaters and chew and swallow their food while boys just wolf it down  Emma eats mainly the NV chicken while Leroy will only eat the NV beef. Maybe the ground beef bone pieces are bigger/harder to crunch than the ground chicken bone? confused_cat

Vet also suggests a check up and bloodwork done to rule out other possible issues. I should hear back from Dr. B later today.

hmmm the prospect of bones stuck in one's throat (or farther down) is kinda, well, sounds awful. time to cough things up, leroy!

the sounds like it could get expensive very quickly.

Dr. B thinks post-nasal drip, possible allergy confused_cat Leroy does have a drippy wet nose but that's just normal for him. He's not sneezing or coughing or anything.

My pets always have expensive vet bills @-) Even the gerbils had a few hundred dollars spent on vet care... each

That's how it is in my house. Ginger only wants teeny tiny bites and lifts her head after each bite while looking around and chewing her food. She is very dainty.

Sending healing vines (or eat more slowly vines) to Leroy. I hope the tests come back with good results and that whatever is causing his problem is not serious.

Well Dr. B doesn't think a check up is necessary. He said to keep an eye on Leroy and if it gets worse to let him know. He can do a thorough check up when I bring Leroy and Emma in for their annual exam late next month/early December.

Now I need to find a cookie or brownie recipie to make for the vet at work as payment

whatever brownie you make, if you sprinkle the top with mini marshmallows and let it sit in the hot oven for about 5 minutes (turn the oven off) then cover it with frosting . . . ohmygosh those are so good. i have a recipe for all of it if you want. gooey and to die for!

we had 6 guinea pigs & 3 rabbits - the size of the vet bills don't seem to correspond to the size of their bodies!
