She's not doing well. Not eating. She even tries to eat turkey, but then lets the food fall out of her mouth. Greenies, however, go down fine. It's a mystery. But, she doesn't look right to me. She's not moving right. I don't know that this is all a result of the chemo drugs and nausea, I suspect something else is going on. I considered trying to get into a vet today, but that's so much stress, I think we're going to try to hold out for our oncology appointment tomorrow.

I'm beginning to think we're nearing the end. I wanted her daddy (my ex-BF who adopted her with me) to be able to see her again, but he can't be here any time soon and I don't know if she's going to be able to wait.

(((Krys)))
Would it be worth calling the vet? I'd suggest feeding Kasha whatever she will eat and I don't care if it's a bowl of Greenies.

my prayers are going out to you and Kasha, I hope it's nothing more than naseau but you know her best, do what you can for her and let us know what the oncologist says tomorrow.

Re: 10/11 Kasha AMPS 153, 111 @ +4 Not doing well

Sending tons of prayers for you both. *EXTREMEHUGS*

I would highly recommend getting her to the vet this morning, and seeing what's going on. The knowing is much better than the not knowing.

Also, feed her as much greenies as she'll eat. Have you tried syringe feeding some watered (or slightly watered) down wet food? That may be an idea, too. If you have tuna in water... try a tiny amount (about the size of your pinky nail). Or even the tuna water. May get her stimulated to eat.

Re: 10/11 Kasha AMPS 153, 111 @ +4 Not doing well

Are you giving the mirtz still? It is good that she is interested in the Greenies...the allergy ones are duck and they are softer I think...have you tried them? How is it going with the force feeding today? I am hoping this is just a little nausea after the chemo..that is possible, right? You are doing such a good job with your attention to her eating, and helping her with the force feeding...hope today wills see some improvements for (((Kasha))) I hope you are feeling better today Krys...
(perhaps your idea about call the vet today is the best one....so that maybe there will be help for today rather than waiting till tomorrow...)

Re: 10/11 Kasha AMPS 153, 111 @ +4 Not doing well

Thinking of you and Kasha sending healing vines for you and JMO but I think at this point feed her just anything to get her to eat does she like any kind of junk food aka meow mix I know its not the greatest but its the first thing Voodoo would eat when he was really sick 6 weeks ago I am not a fan of it but when I went to the store to look for things he might like I picked up some of this and used it for a time.

Re: 10/11 Kasha AMPS 153, 111 @ +4 Not doing well

Krys, I'm so sorry to hear Kasha's not doing well today. I too would at least call the vet, even if you don't take her in. If they have no answers, then you are no worse off, but if they have an idea, or even agree it could be just from chemo, maybe you can worry just a tiny bit less. Keeping you two close in thought, and sending healing vines for sweet Kasha.

Re: 10/11 Kasha AMPS 153, 111 @ +4 Not doing well

Darn it, Krys...sorry that Kasha isn't feeling much like eating. Going to be sending out some eating and postive vines to you guys now.
I agree...feed her whatever and whenever she wants. Any food is better than no food.

Re: 10/11 Kasha AMPS 153, 111 @ +4 Not doing well

I am sorry Krys. I agree with Sienne.....if she would eat a bowl of greenies....I would let her. Sending you and Kasha tons of snowflakes.

Sienne - Kasha would like me to thank you for the suggestion to let her eat a bowl of greenies. We didn't go that far, but she did eat a handful before I had to go out for the afternoon.

I just want to clarify that I am force feeding her several times a day - it's not like she's going without food. It's just that she won't eat on her own or even really when I put food in front of her. She'll lick at food and quickly grow tired of the effort and then turn her head away. No vomiting or diarrhea so far. I even have been mixing in a pinch of miralax in her food the last few days because there hasn't been much LB activity - although there is some, so it's not like she's completely blocked up or anything as far as I can tell. And she is drinking fairly frequently - but that's normal for her.

I did finally get the probiotics delivered today, so I put some in her food - it's mostly stuff she's had before, so I was hoping it might help a bit.

She's on the couch with me right now - that's unusual behavior for her and I'm not sure if it could still be part of the mirtazapine behavior or if it's because she doesn't feel well.

Why can't they just tell us what hurts?

That sure would be nice if they could just tell us what hurts. Playing the guessing game gets so frustrating and tiring, doesn't it?

Hi Krys.
Kasha might being feeling nauseated from the chemo. Humans say it makes them feel awful. I agree with others about giving her dry food or treats, or whatever she wants. When my civvie is feeling sick (she has a very sensitive tummy), I'll often give her some EVO kibbles (while locked up in the bathroom, where J.D. can't get them) and she really appreciates it. Enjoy the affectionate kitty laying by you on the couch. You're doing a good job of force feeding her and taking care of her. I am continuing to send possitive thoughts and prayers and feel better vines to your dear girl. I hope you are feeling better, too.

((( Krys ))) I hope this is just an "off" day for her and that she feels better soon. Very glad you are getting some food in her. I hope her appetite returns in force quickly.

Krys -- whatever works! Food trumps most other things. If she'd eat a bowl of ice cream, I'd give her that. If a handful of Greenies made Kasha feel better, I'm in favor of them.

Dear Kasha - sure hope you start doing better real soon. Please let us know how the Vet apt goes tomorrow. Thinking positive vibes for both you & your Mama. Take care sweetheart.
