Another ugly either bounce OR a kibble raid yesterday evening. I sort of suspect DH didn't watch the kibblehead's bowl well enough. I do know this number had food in it - he finished off last night's soft food about an hour before we got up. He was still hungry - came in and walked all over us for an hour before we finally gave up. At least he didn't sit on my face...
All P's in place altho' I'm not sure if you can call what he and Bebo did last night play - we heard an awful holler, turned on the light to see Doc biting Bebo's neck while Bebo was trying to run...dragging Doc down the hall. Not sure why Doc does that every once in a while. We also had really bad storms causing lots of pacing and hiding by everyone.
Haven't done a Johnny puppy mill doggie update lately - he's now coming TO ME FOR PETTING! I let them outside to run for a bit but stand and wait on them. When he's done, he now comes in by himself, runs into their kennel, spins around and comes right back to the door for me to pick him up. He'll snuggle right there for as long as I'll hold him! For a dog that literally tried to melt into the floor in a shaking ball if a human was even around 4 months ago, this is just AMAZING! I'm starting to consider splitting him and Junior (the other mill dog) into different kennels - Junior is more dominant. Johnny's not depending on him for comfort and protection much anymore altho' they still curl up together...I think Johnny would continue to improve more now. One step at a time...
Chris/China - you asked if we'd called the shelters about this kitten...we live in the middle of nowhere, there are no shelters nor pounds nearby. The only one within 15 miles only takes animals from that city. We DID notify them as well as the local resces but didn't expect anyone to even call them. I keep watching for 'missing cat' signs or someone walking that seems to be looking for something. We usually stop those people and ask if they're hunting an animal anyway so we'll know if WE see them. Nothing so far so I guess by now he's ours.
I also said he was a cuddlebug and called him 'Nuisance II' in one condo - Nuisance was my little cuddlebaby we lost over a year ago. None of these others are cuddly babies, I've missed that terribly ever since Nuis crossed. Nuis used to ride hanging over my shoulder all the time, slept curled up with us. When this little one draped himself over my shoulder and just hung right there making biscuits, my heart was so thrilled.
Anyone have any suggestions about how to resolve a mean streak in a kitten? Monkey, the little 'hawk food' baby is just MEAN. He's now about 5 months old and quite strong. He attacks everyone else, bites and scratches us when he wants something and doesn't get it OR just 'because'. I've tried all the tricks that have worked in the past, none have worked this time. I don't mind 'wild' but he's just mean often. I don't dare let him face to face with this kitten, I'm afraid he'll really hurt him.
Dad is about the same altho' he's not been very alert this week. They did increase his mid-afternoon meds letting Mother leave without the 'please take me home' pleading. It has made it SO much better for her heart. He's still having violent spells in the evenings - doctor believes this is more 'Sundowner Syndrome' from his Alzheimers rather than his Parkinsons.
DH's knee is healed! He's still wearing a bandaid to help keep it from over-stretching the new skin - he tried to leave that off for a while yesterday but the pulling/stretching was still painful. It's an ugly scar - we call it his battle scar! He hasn't gotten back on the roof to cut the other limbs yet, he'll wear knee pads this time!
Lots of extra thoughts and prayers today for Lisa (Do Lou) - she lost her mother 2 weeks ago, dad had car wreck while making final arrangements, her car broke down while helping with that and NOW Dad's in the hospital with pneumonia which is not responding to meds. On top of all this, she also birthed 2 new Aby litters too. We're still holding Liz/Anne/Tillie close - Z-man was a HUGE presence leaving a huge hole.
BIG HUGS to all that visit today!! Dance with us!
