Hello LL!!

Yesterday: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=126769

I don't really know how Billie's day was, because I had to work away from home for most of it. But, she didn't cough at all overnight or this morning! That's exciting! I hope it keeps up.

I am a little nervous because we had another scuffle while I was trying to give her the liquid pred tonight. I was aiming for the side of her mouth, but she was moving her head all over the place and I think I ended up squirting it into the back of her mouth. There was a lot of writhing around and it happened pretty quickly, so I don't know exactly how it went down. She had a couple little coughs right after but otherwise she seems normal and her breathing is normal. She forgave me pretty quickly, ate most of her dinner, then sat on the couch with me for a bit. Now she's napping on her bookshelf - pretty typical. It's only a 0.5ml dose, so there's not a ton of liquid. Hopefully, it's nothing to worry about - but I will worry anyway, because that's how I roll!

I hope everyone had a nice day!! Sending lots of vines to all the cats and beans needing vines.

Silly Billie! Doc hates meds of any kind that I have to put in his mouth - definitely understand the apprehension and worry. At least she didn't have a coughing fit afterwards. That's GREAT!

Hugs Deanna - try hard not to worry and enjoy the 'normal'... :-D

Is it flavored? They can flavor it without adding any sweeteners including maltodextrin. Gracie's ursodiol has chicken flavor and she loves it. Thinks it's a treat. :-D

Great news that she went overnight and the morning with no cough!

Thank you Lyresa and Marje!!

Lyresa, "Enjoy the normal" is great advice for me. Thank you for that!

Marje, this pred is supposedly flavored for cats, but I tasted a drop of it, and to me it just tastes like bitter chemicals with a hint of sweetness. I certainly don't blame Billie for hating it. She only has about 5 more days on this course, but if it becomes a longterm thing, I will ask for something meat flavored. It would be lovely if she could think of meds as a treat. There is a local compounding pharmacy that I can go to. I could also do 0.5ml pred and 0.5 ml pork broth, but I'm still worried about aspiration considering how much she struggles, so I'm not sure that I want to include more liquid. I think the struggle is more about her not liking her mouth messed with, because she started fighting me before she even knew what I was doing. It seemed like she was thinking "okay, I let you poke me, I let you inject me, and I let you stalk me while I'm in the litter box...but now you're crossing a line!!"

I just got back from being out for a bit, and both cats are in good shape! I wanted to visit more condos tonight, but I think it's bedtime, so I will visit tomorrow. Sending lots of vines to all kitties and beans needing vines, and thinking of Anne and Liz.

Hi Deanna.

I can definitely relate to problems medicating cats. It seems that all I do is put stuff in their eyes, ears, mouth and let's not forget the skin - injections! Cinco's Bartonella AB was liquid and I squirted it to the back of his throat. Didn't bother him a bit. He hardly noticed it, in fact, so I wouldn't worry. My problem with liquid meds is they struggle and we both end up wearing more than actually gets inside the cat! :o

Yay (and anti-jinx) on no coughing last night or this morning! Let's hope for more of the same tomorrow and the next day and the next day.... you get the picture! :-D
