All of Powder's personal P's are in place. Speaking of pees his are almost back to normal size despite his high BGs so symptoms have improved :-D

I have been waiting for this day of three 10s ! So cool to type! I hope this is a good omen for Powder. Cool day and low numbers for all LL cats.

Re: 10/10/10AMPS320+2 246

That +2 is a hopeful yellow...maybe give Powder credit by putting his name in your header?
Oh, and you link is not working....make sure you put a space between the last word and the link, ok?
Hope you have a great day!

Re: 10/10/10PowderAMPS320+2 246+4 99

Thanks for all wishes it helped. Just fed scant tsp LC with 1 drop syrup to try to slow it down. Keep your kitty paws crossed please ;-)

Re: 10/10/10PowderAMPS320+2 246+4 99

Wow, fast drop...I'd get a +4.5 if you can! Good idea with the syrup...

Just saw the time...my post is too late if you didn't get it...hope she doesn't dive more.

Re: 10/10/10PowderAMPS320+4 99+6 80+6.75 148

Well out of the green ohmygod_smile but I hope he doesn't go up too much. I guess 0.2 is too much 0.1 is not enough  measuring these small doses is a nightmare at my age even with glasses @-) I tried to get vet to let me have RX for TB syringes because 1 syringe is 1ml with .1ml graduations which should be easier for these tiny doses. Oh well :YMSIGH: Next time no second dose of syrup

Re: 10/10/10PowderAMPS320+4 99+6 80+6.75 148

Who'da thunk it? just checked all my higher %, only one that doesn't say "wheat gluten" is Merrick - THanksgiving Day Dinner, 12% by J&B chart. this one uses potato starch as a thickener instead of flour. Maybe some of the other Merricks are higher than THanksgiving on carb % - something to look up. I would call 12% MC

wheat makes Powder puke or itch or.. ??? white kitties come with a unique set of problems, had one for 22 years.

Re: 10/10/10PowderAMPS320+5.6 54+6 80+6.75 148

I'm not sure if he has a problem but has had bloody loose stools in the past and don't want to risk it. Dr Lisa doesn't think its a good idea. There is so little gravy in the Merricks that it makes it hard to give gravy when facing a hypo. I'm thinking of making my own. Thanks for looking at it. I bought new Whiskas varieties in gravy without gluten but I don't know carb % so I haven't given them yet.

Re: 10/10/10PowderAMPS320+5.6 54+6 80+6.75 148

Kathy, Merrick's California Roll is 16% carb, has no wheat gluten. I use 9Lives Daily Essentials tender slices with real beef in gravy for HC (24%) and there is no wheat gluten in it....wheat flour though.

Re: 10/10/10PowderAMPS320+5.6 54+6 80+6.75 148

Laurie that is the one I have too and used today. He loves it so much :-D I think he was instantly spoiled last time I used it and he picked over his food a couple of days after. I have stood in the cat food aisle at a local market, Petco, Petsmart, local farm supply looking at cat food, and its amazing that most especially with gravy have wheat gluten. I'm glad that 9 Lives Daily Essentials sliced beef in gray is HC. I got some baby food but it says it's 2% carbs I'm not sure how that works for cat carbs.

Re: 10/10/10PowderAMPS320+5.6 54+6 80+6.75 148

Kathy, I like the 9Lives because it has a good amount of gravy, too! I used to use the Fancy Feast varieties in gravy, but they aren't as high carb and not as much gravy, either. I hate struggling to separate the gravy when you are in a situation where you need it quickly!

I don't envy you with the micro-dosing! It must be frustrating, such tiny changes make such a huge difference! I remember seeing something about TB syringes and it not being a straight conversion...ml is not the same as units, so it wouldn't be simple.

Re: 10/10/10PowderAMPS320+5.6 54+6 80+6.75 148

You're right Laurie on that too. If you are using 100U insulin it has 100units in 1 ml so if you are giving say 0.2 unit with a TB syringe it should measure out on the two tenths line. It's still a tiny amount but should be easier to see. I talked to a pharmacist who says as long as it U100 it could be done. I'm going to search around for a site where I might be able to get one then I could really check it out. Sure wish I worked at a hospital still it would be easier to visually check it out. f

ps I was able to find a pix with excellent close up and drats it wouldn't work cat(2)_steam so back to approximating those teeny tiny doses.

Re: 10/10/10PowderAMPS320+5.6 54+6 80+6.75 148

Wellness Sardine, Shrimp and Crab is 16% carb and doesn't contain gluten. Many of the beans with IBD kitties will just add Karo to food if their cat is sensitive.

Re: 10/10/10PowderPMPS330

Do I stick with the 0.25 or dosecrease? He surely would have gone below 50 without intervention confused_cat
Thanks for food hints

Re: 10/10/10PowderPMPS330

Kathy...can't answer your question about dosecrease but I'll give you a bump....finally got to check in today. Looks like you did a great job today with Powder!! He sure dropped fast..and don't you hate those bounces???

Re: 10/10/10PowderPMPS330

Didn't want to be too late for his shot so tried to give a skinny 0.25 will see what happens. I can check all these BGs when I'm home but how can this be managed when I have to work? I don't have a handle on how to keep him from going too high when trying to keep him above 50. I'm wondering if the syrup makes him go too high. There are just so many variables and I know ECID I just wish there were more tangible guidelines :YMSIGH:

Re: 10/10/10PowderPMPS330

I know, huh, it'd be nice if this disease came with a manual, and the kitties would read and follow it.

Re: 10/10/10PowderPMPS330

When I look at other kittie's SS that are on tiny doses their numbers are much more consistent and much lower than Powder's. If he weren't getting enough carbs could that cause the drop? Human diabetics that don't get enough can run higher especially if too much meds. I don't know if cats are like people at all confused_cat

Re: 10/10PowderPMPS330+1340+1.75 281+3 150

Started mc 12% 1 tsp gravy 1tsp mc +1oz raw to see if can circumvent drop below 50. Looks like I'll be up to be sure he doesn't go to low. My eyes are crossing from the computer @-)
