20cc Core 5% just after AMBG, +1, +3.25, +4, +6, 5cc snack at +9
20cc Core 5% just after PMBG, +1.25, +3.25, +4, +6, 5cc snack at +9

Yesterday's values:
AMBG 104, +6=60
PMPS 103, +6=70

This is his first green AM start! I hope there are many more to come.

I was curious as to whether or not his PM +6 was dropping now. Evidently it is! That means I'm off to bed until 5am. Woo hoo!

Re: 10/10 Shadow B OTJ Trial D6 AMBG 87

He's been staying in normal numbers but it would be nice if he'd stick to the green AMBG. Next time he throws you a blue AMBG or PMBG hoe about giving him s little food (if you haven't alrwdy syringe fed him) and retest him in three hours just so we can see if his pancreas is kicking in about when it should?

Re: 10/10 Shadow B OTJ Trial D6 AMBG 87

I'll have to play around with his feeding schedule to do this adequately, since he gets so many small meals. All of the +7's have been 3 hours post meals and those have been greens. Should I try spacing out his feedings in order to get more 3 hour tests in?

This morning he got 20cc just after his AMBG and at +1, so I'll feed again at +3 and test/feed at +4 then hold off until +7 again for a recheck. I can do this for both the AM's and PM's over the weekend. Do you think that will work?

If you're giving him small meals around the clock, that's as good as it gets. the idea is to not over-tax his healing pancreas.

Re: 10/10 Shadow B OTJ Trial D7 AMBG 87

OOPS! It's Day 7. LOL I changed the wrong condo. I'm on way too many antihistamines this AM. ;-)

He doesn't go more than 3 hours without at least a little food. (Unless I sleep through the alarm... then he goes for 6, but that's not a regular thing.) How much food at a time is too much? Since I assist feed, it's pretty easy for me to give as much/little as necessary at any given feeding. He's very cooperative. I can feed up to 40cc's at a sitting, but don't like to do that unless I know I'll miss a later time.

Re: 10/10 Shadow B OTJ Trial D7 AMBG 87

how much is too much? an amount that raises his blood sugar, maybe? I don't know. the idea is for him to stay in green numbers as much as possible. If his blood sugar is staying there, you can assume his pancreas is able to handle the amount you're giving him.

i'd guess this would be one of those things that varies from cat to cat. this part is more of an art than a science.

Re: 10/10 Shadow B OTJ Trial D7 AMBG 87

Thanks for the cheering section, guys! :-D

Well, I decided to test when I got home. He had 40cc's of food by his AMPS +1 and I tested him at +3.25. We got a 116. I gave him 20cc's just after that and will give 20cc's more at +4 then retest at +7.

Re: 10/10 Shadow B OTJ Trial D7 AMBG 87, +3.25=116

I know it is a challenge with the syringe feeding but we just want to be sure he's bringing himself down so he can stay in remission. I agree with Julie on all the points she made. We just want to know his pancreas is working :-D
