o_O:arghh:Good morning! Milo seems ok but still not interested in eating much. I tried to get the 1/6 tab of appetite stimulant down him but he started frothing at the mouth and drooling. I’m not sure if any actually made it into his system and I’m reluctant to give more because of that!
I hope he’s gone back to nibble now. He’s even been presented with a new pate option and seemed curious but in the end he didn’t eat. He’s on a good string of greens but I hope that’s not just due to his not eating well the last few days. I wish he’d just get excited about food again. I’m running out of options. At first he was super excited about raw food then he stopped. Then he was super excited about FF. Now he’s not so much. Hopefully this appetite stimulant will start turning him around. The dr said I can give it regularly. It’s Mirtazapine 15 mg. Does anyone have any experience with this drug? I’ll post the labs later this weekend. Have a great day!

Empty gel capsules size 3-5 are great to use for pills. You can get them from Amazon or from capsuline.com. The larger the number the smaller the capsule so size 5 is the smallest Why does your vet feel he’s not eating? I’m not sure if he needs nausea medication as well since he’s showing interest in food but not eating. My bet would be yes. I hope he feels better soon.

I think he feels it’s related to pancreatitis. Could today also be a delayed reaction to having teeth done? He wants him on a prescription diet but that’s obviously a no-go due to carb level. thanks for the tips on gel capsules. That’s certainly worth looking into. His appetite seems to come and go. Very often he won’t have breakfast but will come back to it an hour later. Today he’s just not. No throwing up at all. I think he’s holding out for the MC as he tends to respond better when presented with these but I can’t be doing that unless necessary too. He’s a tricky one, my little boy. I saw on his crate that 5 years ago he was 10 lbs, 2.5 lbs+ more than now.

Many cats with pancreatitis are inappetent and nauseous. That was often Max’s only symptom. I had him on ondansetron sometimes for months. Usually I’d start with the appetite stimulant for a day or two and kept ondansetron going sometimes a month. Some cats need ondansetron or cerenia all the time. With Max it came and left so while I always had some here he needed it off and on.
I think you said his teeth were only scaled so that should not be the cause. Max’s pancreatitis often flared after a vet visit or got worse if he was there when he wasn’t feeling well. If you use an appetite stimulant while he’s nauseous he can then refuse to eat the food that he feels made him nauseous.

Thanks so much. I’ll have to ask the vet about an anti-nausea med. He seems better tonight and returned to his bowl a second time at +1.5. He only eats small amounts at a time but he’s eating more consistently throughout the day today. I am having to entice a little with MC to get him started then switch to LC.
Will the pancreatitis possibly get better over time and treatment for the diabetes? Can chronic pancreatitis hinder remission? I’ll post the labs tomorrow so people have more info to go on.
Have a good night!

Max had chronic pancreatitis for a few years before he became diabetic. It’s not always chronic. It will go away. Then time will tell if it ever returns. Vet’s really don’t know enough about it. They know how to treat the symptoms but not how to prevent it. I hope it’s a one and soon done for Milo.
