Morning All,

Sorry I didn't see all the responses from last night. Dental day is tomorrow, and I am already freaking out nailbite_smile

We had a good Thanksgiving with the fam and Leo was a good boy, no mousies to be found. Today we had a good test, shoot and feed, Leo was a very hungry kitty. We are both BTB right now, and are taking it easy today.

Happy Thanksgiving, Canadian LL'nders!

Healing vines for the dental tomorrow! It will go fine and Leo's toothies will be nice and clean.

No mousies? What's with that? Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving eve.

Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your btb with your boy.

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 146

Enjoy your btd and good luck and sending good vetty vines for tomorrow. I freak out, too, with dentals, but Leo will be fine.

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 146

Tracy The dental is worse for us usually than it is for them!! They sleep most of the day, while we worry--Moonie has had 2 dentals in past 3+ yrs we are here, & my civvie had one also...
Both did well--Just remember to tell vet--No Metacam, No Covenia shot, & PLEASE GET BUPRENEX for pain if Leo needs any extractions!--OK? Paws & fingers crossed for an easy & great recovery!! Hugs from Us!

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 146

Happy Thanksgiving!! I'm curious... is Canadian Thanksgiving as food-centered as it is in the U.S.? If so, what are the traditional dishes? How culture is reflected in food is a huge interest of mine (and, had I stayed in graduate school instead of transferring to law school, would have been the subject of my dissertation!).

Great start for Leo this morning... hope you all have a wonderful, lazy day!!

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 146

Hi guys .. I'll be sending good dental thoughts your way tomorrow .. I remember how nervous I was with mocha, but it all turned out fine and she ended up with 8 extractions! Have a great day guys!

I am definitely freaking out about the dental, and Roni you are so right it's worse for us than it is them. I've already got a consent form I'm supposed to fill out, I was planning on writing (with a sharpie) no metacam and no convenia. Buprenorphine will be given to him tomorrow and to me to give at home. The vet would like him to spend the entire day at the clinic and I drop him off at 8 and pick him up at 5, I wonder if they'll feed him? He will prob be starving by then. 4 extractions that we know of, and whatever else the xrays say. I'm not 100% sure if I should give him a full dose of insulin tomorrow night, I can't be exactly sure that he will want to eat for me, and I've seen how anesthesia can affect BG numbers from being on this board, I guess I'll wait to see what his BG tells me.

Canadian Thanksgiving is mostly about food, and getting together with your family. Turkey, ham, potatoes, cabbage rolls, cranberries, pumpkin pie, etc is mostly what we eat. I have heard that American Thanksgiving is a bigger deal than Christmas, but that's not the case here. I made a very yummy blueberry cheesecake, made with blueberries I picked at work, everyone called it "nuclear cheesecake" due to the fact the berries were picked at a uranium mine!

Leo came in to wake me up at +3 (it's what time I usually get up to test) and I pretended to be sleeping, there was gentle meowing that gradually got louder, pawing at my face, digging to get under the blankets, headbutts, stepping on my head and hair, cold wet nose on my cheek, and I think that was it. What a cat!!!  All right, all right I'm upppppp!!!!

Kitty alarm clocks are the best!!! Try not to worry too much about tomorrow. I'll just bet he gets through it without a hitch!! Happy Thanksgiving!!

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 146, +4 67

Lovely cycle for Leo, but no nousies! The poor boy is gong to starve! I hope he gets one for his Thanksgiving dinner!

Good luck on the dental tomorrow, Tess has always had bad teeth until FD and the switch to wet food! They are surprised at how good her teeth have been, We've been brushing too though. She may need one soon. If he is going to be there all day I'd take a can of his LC food along, just so they don't give him too many carbs. What did they tell you about the food and dose in the morning. I wish we had a sticky about dentals or at least a link in one. This info is looked for a lot!

Yours sounds a lot like our Thanksgiving, except add in Football and the Macy's Parade! I think football has changed ours a lot. I don't think it's bigger than Christmas though, but it does have the biggest travel day, because it's all in a weekend.

I am supposed to give a half dose tomorrow morning, how am i supposed to halve 0.75?!?!? and feed 1/4 of what i would normally feed, so about a teaspoon of food. Good idea Ann to bring our own can of LC food! I wouldn't have thought of that.

Re: 10/10 Leo PMPS 94

Hey Tracy and Leo,
I'm sure all will go well tomorrow. When Rusty had his dental he also went in at 8 A.M. and came home in the late afternoon. He was fine. I don't think they fed him; they just let him recuperate from the anesthesia (he was given IV fluids). He was completely normal when we picked him up.
We'll be thinking of you tomorrow and KTSS will be along tomorrow evening. Leo, be brave. You will feel much better without those pesky bad teeth.

Hope you enjoyed Thanksgiving. The blueberry cheesecake sounds delicious.

Ella & Rusty

Re: 10/10 Leo PMPS 94

Hi Tracy - I just wanted to stop in and let you know you and Leo will be in my thoughts for tomorrow and beyond. And I'm glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner!

A couple bits of advice I got from when Trixie had her dental back in April (most, if not all, were from Sienne):

Test Leo as soon as you get him in the door after the dental.
He'll probably be starving when you get home, but don't over feed him, to prevent a scarf-n-barf situation.
Watch his BGs extra closely for a few days after the dental. For Trix, she didn't experience the post-dental drop until 36 hours after the dental. It caught me off guard and was my first experience with driving her numbers with food, but thanks to Laurie (and Mr Tinkles), we were just fine.

My vet didn't feed Trix, even though she was there from 6am-5pm. Still, giving them a can of Leo's food is a good idea, just in case...

Many thoughts and prayers for a good, easy dental!

Amy

Thanks everyone for the pre-dental healing vines! We really appreciate it.

I just tested and got a 65 for Leo's +3, i decided to feed him some very yummy FF elegant medley for a snack before his big day tomorrow, i wanted to treat Leo.

Good luck with the dental! I am sure Leo will be fine. It is always harder on us than them. I love it that he got some FF EMedley tonight - Mannie loves that stuff too. WE will also be watching for updates! be good Leo!
