Furball was happy & purry this morning. I need to look back at her SS. It seems like we've lost momentum. She was getting a lot more blue and green. I have been having trouble with air bubbles in my syringes lately. That could be causing her dose to be off. I think I get rid of them, but there could be some tiny ones still there. I wonder if you can get a batch of syringes that cause more air bubbles? I just opened a new batch recently.

Morning Carla,

I agree with the bubbles. Frustrating. Someone had written a very good post on how they get rid of them. I think it involved adding a little more air into the syringe, then flicking it, something like that. I wish I had bookmarked it -

Good luck with they syringes.

Scritches to the happy, purry girl :-D

Morning Carla ~O) ~O) ~O)

Sunny yellow today! I would run into that issue all the time with Mannie: loosing momentum. He's have these great runs, and then not so great. You could add add drop to get things jump started for Furball again. Or just wait it out. Mannie never really played by the rules, often waiting it out was the way to go for him. I so hear you too on the syringes - fought that battle with the bubbles all the time. it could be affecting Furball's dose, and how much she is truly getting. Ella of Ella and Rusty always had good posts on how to get rid of them. For me I'd alwyas hold the syringe vertical, use the flick technique until i got rid of them. what a pain it was.... wishing you much luck.

have a great day today.

Hi Carla, Good luck with the fatter dose ;-)
And I too would like to know some pointers on the air bubbles!!
Have a great night!

Good luck with the fatter dose. Buster and I did the same. Let's hope Furball gets to see more blues and greens this weekend!

Hi Carla,
What brand of syringe are you using? In general, work the plunger back and forth a few times, then push it all the way in and hold it in forcefully. Then, still holding the plunger in, insert the needle into the vial/pen and draw out about 1/2 unit more insulin than you need. Flick the bubbles up to the top and keep flicking until the small bubbles coalesce into one large bubble. Try to center the bubble under the needle. Then, with a slight, quick, and deft "pull and push" of the plunger, expel the bubble. Then twist the plunger until you arrive at your dose. I am using Terumo syringes and find that the "quick and deft" technique really works great with them. If you are using a different brand, try this technique and see if it helps.

Talk about a flat cat! Come on Furball, let's see some blues and greens!

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Carla, I'm having the same problem with this batch of syringes. Stupid bubbles. I add extra air and flick...and flick again...and flick again...and get really pissed off! cat(2)_steam I hope you can get Furball back to her pretty blues and greens! Sleep well.

Hi Carla,
I hope Furball will work the extra juice, and give you more blue/green soon.

I do pretty much how Ella described, except the "quick & deft" part.
I use BD syringes, and I don't find it too hard to get rid of bubbles, as long as I'm pushing the plunger tight when inserting the needle into the vial.
I also draw insulin really sllooowwly into syringe, that seems to help not getting much bubble to begin with.
