Yesterday's Condo

We are still collarless!! :-D :-D :-D I did, however, end up bandaging that leg last night. It took him no time at all to lick it raw. So far, he's not bothering the bandage. Cinco is loving life without the cone! He's talking more - we even got an "I went poo!" announcement this morning - haven't had one of those in ages! We are loving it, too - testing is soooo much easier without having to negotiate that wretched contraption. Things are looking up! (anti-jinx)

That beautiful green surf last night was such a pleasure to watch. I couldn't go to bed - I was transfixed (and paranoid mamabean kept thinking he was going to go lower). I don't know who taught Cinco how to surf like that, but THANK YOU! More, please!

Sasha ate 75% of her breakfast this morning with enthusiasm and no FF! I sprinkled some on the last 25%, and and that disappeared, too! :-D :-D :-D

Today's challenge is to get Harvey's dose of Advantage Multi on him. He is the hardest one to do, and he is so darned smart - no matter how careful I am to disguise my intentions, he knows. He's amazing at staying just out of reach. Wish me luck!

We are having one lovely, cool day - a tease of what Fall weather should be - then back to the 90s for the next three days. Bleah! I had all the windows open, enjoying the cool breezes, and then there was a fire off in the Marsh somewhere, so now the whole house smells like smoke. Just a reminder we're not out of this drought yet! :YMSIGH:

Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG: Prayers for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, Wendy's DM and Elise's DM. Anne, Liz and Tillie are still in our thoughts - we miss our Z-man!

We are still collarless!!

Woot woot! I'm so excited. Seriously. I'm grinning from ear to ear. You would think I just had a cone taken off. I do, however, think that Cinco deserves Mr. Greenie on his condo today. That +4 counts, right? And the +6 is darned close. ;-)

That's great news on Sasha's appy; I'm continuing to send vines for her. And paws are crossed on a good de-flea-ing. (Yes, I know that's not actually a word, but I'm not quite sure how else to word it. ohmygod_smile)

Have a great day, Tricia!
Shelly

What a great surf for Cinco last night. How great he is still collarless. I hope Sasha will continue to eat for you. I hope you were able to get the flea meds on Harvey. I think they have a 6th sense about that.

Re: 10/10 Cinco PMPS 154

ARGH! I actually wrote this about 2.5 hours ago, but my internet was c-r-a-w-l-i-n-g, so I couldn't send it until now.

Thanks, Shelly. I wasn't sure if I should use Mr. Greenie when Cinco had crawled back up on shore, but he decided to take a second dip, so he's definitely got one now! (ETA: I"m leaving it, even though he's back to blue at PMPS).

I think defleaing is a word - at least, it works for me! It's not technically accurate, though, as we don't have fleas (anti-jinx) - we're just trying to keep it that way! Not just fleas, but any critters that might bother the kitties. That's why we use Advantage Multi. The vet said even indoor only cats should be treated, as you never know what might come in on your shoe or sock or pant leg! So far today the score is Harvey - 2, Bean - 0!
Sasha ate the small snack I took her around noon. :-D I was cautiously optimistic that the appy was back, but she didn't want her dinner, so I'm about to take her some baby food. :YMSIGH:

Thanks for stopping by, Carla. You're right. Harvey has a sixth sense. And maybe a seventh and eighth, too!

Re: 10/10 Cinco AMPS 151 +4 94 +6 101 +8.5 77

Yay for still being collarless - I'm sure all of you are thrilled! Hopefully he'll start leaving his leg alone soon, too, so he can also be bandge-less as well.

C'mon, Sasha...noms are, welly, nommy. Eat 'em up!

We need to put Sasha and my Dad in a room together and entice them with the most yummy fuds ever. It sounds like they are on the same chemo-crash schedule! The good thing is that we know for both of them that it is temporary, and we just need to get them through the hump.

Have a great night, Tricia!

We used Revolution for the same reason, but we're going to have to make a switch soon. Arkansas fleas, mites, and other critters have toughened up, I guess. :YMSIGH:

More appy vines are headed to Sasha, and I'm sending you some "conquer Harvey" vines this go 'round. ;-)

Re: 10/10 Cinco AMPS 151 +4 94 +6 101 +8.5 77

Very nice cycle for Cinco and WOO HOO on the collar-less kitty!!

Does he still walk WAY around things trying to keep from bumping into them with the collar? Bet that takes some adjusting to...both when it first goes on and when it first comes off (especially for a blind kitty)

I swear I think China and Cinco are "brothers (and sisters) from another mother"..she knows when it's time for the flea juice too! She hates it! You'd think I was putting battery acid on her!

We used to use Frontline..then the fleas got resistant to it...Next was Revolution...same thing...we're going to be trying the Advantage Multi next....hopefully I'll be able to get it on her! So far we've been lucky to keep the blood sucking critters out of the house too, but if they keep evolving, we might all be in trouble!

Remember the good old days of flea powder, flea combs and flea bombs? I was so skeptical when they first came out with the topicals. There was NO way something that easy could possibly work! I sure hope we don't end up back there again!

Hope Sasha continues eating for you...even if it's baby food....Come on Sasha...not much longer and this will all be over with!

Have a great weekend Tricia

Re: 10/10 Cinco AMPS 151 +4 94 +6 101 +8.5 77

Cinco has been looking great lately! I wonder if his eye had been bothering him so much that it kept his BG up? He must feel like a new cat without the collar :-D congrats!

Poor Harvey! I hope he is defleaed now  sending Sasha extra eating vines and just a hug for Minka since she seems to be doing great (anti jinx).

Glad your weather is cooling. Ours has been amazing.

Have a great night,,,hope it's not a pj party.

Re: 10/10 Cinco PMPS 154 +3 133

Thanks for visiting, Amy, Shelly, Chris and Marje.

It's looking like a blue surf for this evening, so I'm thinking I MIGHT get to bed at a reasonable time tonight. However, I'm not going to count my chickens yet - I've been fooled before!

I'm debating the possibility of putting the collar back on overnight. The incision still looks a little irritated, and although I haven't seen him mess with it, I'm a little concerned he might be. Gosh, I hate to do it, but I don't want an infection or anything that might set us back.

You're right, Marje - Cinco's been looking really, really good since the surgery and I totally think that has everything to do with it! (anti-jinx, anti-jinx, anti-jinx). MInka appreciates being remembered. She is doing well, although coughing a bit more than I'd like. Not enough to make me take her for a check, but I wish I could back her Pred down - we're at every other day right now. The vet leaves it to me whether it's every third day or every other. I was just thinking we could go back to every third and she's had three or four coughing fits over the past several days. Sooo, staying with every other day for now. She's been hanging out by the water dispenser alot, so paranoid helicopter mom here thought :o "oh no - the pred is making her diabetic!" So I poked her - bless her heart, she didn't bat an eye - 70. Whew!

Amy, I agree - knowing this is temporary helps a lot. I just don't want to let Sasha lose any weight because I'm not trying hard enough. I also don't want to give her an aversion to any food by forcing it on her. Walking a fine line here. I know you're familiar with that!

Shelly, we used to use Revolution, but our vet switched to Advantage Multi. We've never had a problem with bugs, but we'd like to keep it that way, so we go ahead and do it. For those keeping track, the score is currently Harvey - 3, Bean -0!

Actually, Chris, Cinco never did walk way around anything - more like right into it. He's really good at hitting something, turning 180 and hitting something else, then turning back and hitting the first thing again! He isn't good at figuring out he needs to adjust his path just a little! He definitely does better without the cone. Battery acid? Yeah, that's about how Cinco and Harvey look at it. Fortunately, Cinco is pretty easy to sneak up on. Not Harvey. He sleeps really, really soundly, but if you wake him up, he is all the way awake really fast.

Sasha ate some baby food, then about two more bites of her dinner. Just not interested. I wish I could tell if she needs some anti-nausea meds or just isn't hungry!

Re: 10/10 Cinco PMPS 154 +3 133 +5 89

Look at how great Cinco is doing. I think the eye healing must be contributing but what do I know. Either way it is great to see. Maybe another nice surf in store for you drama free. I'm sending appy vines to dear Sasha.

Re: 10/10 Cinco PMPS 154 +3 133 +5 89 +6 91

Thanks, Elise. Sasha just ate three or four bites of some Tiki Cat Chicken and Tuna. Not much, but better than nothing.

Unfortunately, DH just put the collar back on Cinco. Even with the bandage, he was chewing on his leg! :YMSIGH: Just as well - I was concerned about the irritation on the incision. So we'll leave it on at least a day or two and try again. I'm bummed, because he was soooo happy without it!

Re: 10/10 Cinco PMPS 154 +3 133 +5 89 +6 91

Darn on the collar. Can you keep it off when you are watching or is it better to just keep it on and try again in a few days? Poor baby. Love the green surf though. I must have missed something. What is going on with the leg???

Re: 10/10 Cinco PMPS 154 +3 133 +5 89 +6 91

I think it's better to leave it on until we think we can take it off and keep it off. It'll just confuse him if we go back and forth.

The leg issue is the same one we had after his first eye removal. They put a pain patch on his back leg, and when it came off, it irritated the skin. As soon as the collar comes off, he starts licking the heck out of it. I tried bandaging it, but my DH said he was practically chewing the leg off tonight, so the collar went back on! It took it about a week to heal last time, I think. I'll have to look back at my old condos. Poor little guy.

I'm gonna test him one more time, and if he didn't go down, I'm off to bed, too! Night!

Cinco just told me to leave him alone and go to bed, so I'm gonna do it!

For those keeping track at home, the game is over, final score Harvey -3, Bean - 1, but the Bean only had to get one to win! ;-)

Ni Ni. I-) I-) I-)

Cinco is looking awesome!!! At least he got to spend some time collarless. I'm sure that put him in a good mood. Sending vines that he'll be done with it for good soon! I'm glad you won the "give Harvey Advantage" game
