No swimmin' with Autumn today - stuck on the sundeck. Looking like another dose increase might be necessary this weekend.

I did notice another sign of scrappin' with the young boy civvies - this time on his ear. He seems pretty proud of his little wounds. I keep telling him to work it out and not to let them bully. He may not be as strong as them but he is bigger.

I may take him off the Nature's Variety Instinct for a few days and see if it makes a difference.

Which Nature Variety Instinct are you using canned or dry? Is that new to him or has he always been eating it?

Definitely not dry food - I am an exasperating advocate against feeding dry food. It will never cross my threshold again. I am merciless with those that complain about high bg and dosage but are refusing to remove the dry food. So - there is my soapbox!!!

It is the canned 95% grain free stuff that is on the food list at 1 or 2 percent carbs. He's has been snacking on it for a couple of weeks. He likes the Beef and Duck. The chicken really smells so I don't buy it anymore. I initially bought it for Nuzzles so I can pinpoint that it was first given to him on September 18th. Nuzzles didn't like the food but Alska did along with my civvie Bing. But how would we know if the manufacturer changed the recipe since Dr. Pierson's list. I know she updates it when she can.

His chart shows an increase in yellow numbers starting on September 19th which is why I suspect that it might be the food.

Lol somehow I knew it wouldn't be the dry :-) I'm awful about lecturing people in the cat food aisle about the evils of dry to the point DH refuses to go with me to get the cat food, he grabs the human grocery list and heads to the opposite side of the store. lol

It does look like his higher numbers started about the same time which makes me wonder if it is the beef. I know Autumn will shoot through the roof if she eats beef. A lot of cats beef is an allergen. Autumn probably would go OTJ if I could convince her to stay off the beef and the rice in Friskies but alas she loves the civies food. And with 14 I'm not opening all those little 3 oz cans to feed a large pride..lol. And if I feed just her FF she eats hers then bullies the civies off their food and eats theirs thus defeating the purpose. sigh

Might be worth experimenting with to see if that is the culprit.

THE CAT FOOD AISLE!!! Of course! That's a brilliant place to set up my soapbox!!! What a great idea

And I was limiting myself to responding to questions on Catster and Facebook.

So the beef might be the culprit!! That would make sense. Luckily Alska also likes poultry. I will get some Wellness turkey for his little snacks instead of the NVI. It is less expensive anyway. Durn Merrick for getting rid of the BG food line.

It would make sense since his numbers changed about the time the beef came to play. Just be glad you have access to the better foods I'm stuck with Friskies, 9-lives, & Fancy Feast.

Yep I have a permanent soap box set up in the local Walmart cat food aisle lol
