Tina has had great luck with Zenequin . . . . . when Clavamox did nothing.
I am sooo cautious with a male kitty - glad you've caught this.
Also, Z worked on two different types of bacteria Tina had.
And, D Mannose is great, but only for E Coli infections (according to my vet, and some prior checking).
I've been loading him up with D-Mannose for the past week because he's been in higher numbers. I thought it worked differently, but I'll look into that when this is dealt with. We have been getting cranberry in him since noon when he started peeing 1/2 dollars every 5 minutes.
Did you do C&S to figure out what it was before getting prescribed Z?
Every damn time we pay $280 for C&S it's negative.
Wish I had fluids, good to know.SubQ fluids might help flush, but most don't have those on hand. Great you've been using cranberry.
How does he act?
That is great - I hope you get a call soon. She fit him in after-hours last time I called with the same exact test results, she's great like that.
Fascinating. Good information thank you so much for this.females are a bit more anatomically likely to get E Coli.
I’m sorry Templeton isn’t feeling wellhopefully you will be able to get into the vet or at least get him started on some meds.
I was wondering, not starting an antibiotic would be strange, gotcha, that makes sense.Tina DID start the Zeniquin, both times, before the results of the culture came back
Wow, super unexpected!instead he was much lower than expected.
Right? 251 at +4 really doesn't mesh with 73 at +8.Wow, super unexpected!
Zeniquin!Of these:
Baytril
Veraflox
Zeniquin
Covenia (non-injectable)
What do people recommend?
Did you get anything. I don’t know what time zone you are in. I just saw this. I have several cats who get explosive diarrhea on Clav and others who can take it. I am glad you caught this early since a blockage is so dangerous. He is peeing every 5 minutes, 1/2 dollar sized, blood present in urine, pH high, Leukocytes 500+
Can someone remind me what antibiotics are good for UTI that aren't Clavamox?
I can't find my notes somehow and I have to get him in quick.

Jan is correct. D-Mannose is helpful in preventing UTIs but only if they are caused by e Coli!I am sooo cautious with a male kitty - glad you've caught this.

Yup, suspected UTI, all the symptoms. The votes are in, Zeniquin it is!This is for a UTI, right? I recommend Zeniquin for UTIs. I have used it successfully in several cats with UTIs. Once a day dosing. Small oval shaped pill that’s easy to get down. Never have nausea or vomiting problems or diarrhea.

I have an appt for tomorrow at noon. No luck getting meds. Pee is back to normal output, strips all normal for last 3 tests.Did you get anything. I don’t know what time zone you are in.
Thanks CarlaSending prayers.![]()
You can only stretch yourself so thin! Hope he feels better soon! Hang in there!Yup, suspected UTI, all the symptoms. The votes are in, Zeniquin it is!
Yes, explosive diarrhea indeed. I have never seen him run so fast as to the bathroom on Clav.
I hope I caught it early, I feel like a bad mom, I haven't tested his pee in a few days. Family in town and MIL birthday AND high blood sugar, I should have tested it sooner.
I’ve never had luck getting my cats to eat cranberry anything. And I was giving it to a cat I had some years ago with kidney disease and found out it is not good for them because it’s too acidic! So I quit trying. This is the cranberry we've been sneaking in his food since noon today.

It is not "scrumptious beef" as the description claims.
But it is what I had on hand. If anyone has suggestions for palatable cranberry, I'm all ears.
