Thanks Wendy. He actually didn't have a snack last night like he usually does, he was heavy sleeping from his +5.5 through to +11 on a rainy day here. So I'm not sure why the higher PMPS? It's still low 100s, which is wonderful. We only suggest a +8-+9 LC snack when a kitty is on very tiny doses, think under 0.25 units, and clearly with a sputtering pancreas. Any snack after nadir on higher doses is more likely to shorten the insulin duration, and give you higher preshots. That might explain the blue PMPS. After nadir, the insulin effect is starting to slow down. Jill once gave me the analogy of a car slowing down towards a stop sign with the foot off the gas. If you give carbs at this point (put your foot on the brakes), you come to a stop before that stop sign. With a recently DKA cat, we do encourage multiple small meals, so giving one after nadir may make sense to make sure he's getting enough calories. Try to make sure any snack after nadir has as low carbs as possible.
