Happy Friday LL!

Muffin went outside this morning, ate grass, came in and puked it up - just grass and liquid - I assume empty tummy syndrome since no dry food last night. I'm going to start a +8 snack. Breffis this morning is half-cooked chicken with turkey slices on top, and she is not impressed. I don't know if tummy is upset or if she's objecting to the change and holding out for her dry food. I'll give it a few mins and then give some pepcid or metoclopramide. I'll be able to a +1 out the door check and hopefully home by +3, but I don't have time to convince her to eat this morning. Purring and playing this morning so far this morning - and lots of trying to sweet talk me into some dry food

Re: 10/1 Muffin amps 233

Anne, sorry I haven't been around much, I read through yesterday's condo...sheesh! Hugs for you! I have no experience with the medical issue, but good for you for continuing to look for an answer, and getting one! I hope Ms Muffin decides to eat some of the chicken and turkey for you. She is a very determined dry food kitty, I know how hard you have been trying to transition her! Hang in there!

Re: 10/1 Muffin amps 233 +1 176

+1 176 Still won't eat. Gave metoclopramide and ab's, but could only get 1/2 a pill into her. The other 1/4 she spit out over and over and over so I gave up. I'm out the door, I hope she eats something and doesn't drop like a rock.

Thank you Laurie for stopping by and for the words of encouragement!

Re: 10/1 Muffin amps 233 +1 176

Anne...have you ever tried pill pockets? I got the idea from Dr. Lisa Pierson; I buy the cat size and then halve them because one is too much
dough. Gracie doesn't like them but on the rare occasion I have to pill her, she's very easy to pill. Teddi and Gus both take pills and they love
their pill pockets. I'm sure nutritionally they aren't the best but it isn't long term so may work for her. Hope she eats today and feels better.

Re: 10/1 Muffin amps 233 +1 176

pill pockets are a saving grace. You should see if it might work for Muffin.
Hope she eats some food and her tummy settles down

Re: 10/1 Muffin amps 233 +1 176 +3.75 97

+3.75 97 Her bowl is completely empty, but both of the piggy boys were inside when I got home, so no idea how much, if any, Muffin ate. Gave her a slice of turkey which she IS eating.

Muffins don't like pill pockets! But I'll see if I can get her to eat butter or cheese today, so I can use that. She really is becoming a pro at spitting things out - I think she even tucks them in her cheek or something, cause she'll swallow, so I'll let her go, and out comes the pill. Wonder if I can hollow out a kibble?

The numbers are looking good , but not if it is just because she won't eat.

Have you tried a pill shooter? I got mine either from the vet ao a local store.they are a couple bucks well worth it! You can get them online at most pet sites too, local is faster.

It took me more than 50 yrs to buy a pill popper, and I will NEVER be without one again! It has made pilling a cat a bazillion times easier for me. It's a very slender, plastic tube with a soft rubber end into which you slip the pill, then push the plunger at the other end of the tube to deposit the pill on the very back of the cat's tongue. The cat doesn't fight the slender tube nearly as much as my huge fingers, and I can position the pill much farther back on the tongue so that swallowing is virtually assured. You should be able to buy a piller from a pet store, your vet, or any pet supply catalog. They only cost a few bucks.
There are a few tricks that make pilling, even with a piller, much easier on the cat. Just as with us, it's difficult for a cat to swallow a pill dry. Give your cat a few licks of canned food first to wet his throat (it's even better if you mix the food into a sloppy gruel with warm water). Then lightly coat the pill with butter to make it easier to swallow, insert it into the piller, and pop it onto the back of your cat's tongue. Then immediately give him the gruel again to wash down the pill and reward him for his cooperation.

There are several on Amazon, but this one look really good. http://www.vetdepot.com/Buster-Pet-Piller-with-Soft-Tips.html

Re: 10/1 Muffin amps 233 +1 176 +3.75 97 +7.75 83

+7.75 83 Muffin is pretty subdued today, but coming willingly for testing and very purry and affectionate. Hanging out downstairs around her cat condo again.

I agree Ann, great numbers, but seeing this one at this point in the cycle assures me that it's just from not eating normally. I do have a pill shooter, I guess I'm just not very good at using it yet. I can't get her to keep her head still so I can't actually AIM the thing. Mine also does not have a nice rubber tip like the one in the picture, maybe I'll buy a different one. So thank you for the links.

A little dive there sweet Muffin but then you got some great numbers. Too bad you don't like pill pockets...did you try the salmon ones? Teddi won't eat chicken but she loves the salmon and there's also duck. I hope she feels much better soon!!!

Re: 10/1 Muffin pmps 95

pmps 95 Ate a couple bites of turkey and begging for food. I understand she wants the dry, but I'm not sure why she's refusing the turkey. Oh, eating a little more now. I'm a bit concerned about how she's going to get enough calories with this diet. 6 slices of turkey is only 50 calories. I may have to syringe feed her some canned food to make up the difference. I'm trying to be strong and not give in to the dry food demands!

Re: 10/1 Muffin pmps 95 +1 109

Feel better Muffin!

I ma sorry Anne - what a stubborn girl you have there. I hope she turns this around soon. I may have to send Mannie to talk to her about the benefits of wet food. He used to be a dry food kitty - not anymore. I wish you luck.

Muffin - eats your fuds - you need to eat OK? We all worry about you -- Mannie

+2 133 Offered some chicken breast, but she's not interested in that either. If she still won't eat this stuff in the morning, I'll syringe feed her something.

Thanks Michelle, I think that's a great idea! Please send Mannie over! This girl needs a good talking to!
