Yesterday at Tricia's House of Chaos

I'm sitting in the waiting room at UCD with Sasha next to me, grumbling in her stroller, waiting for the dentist to type up the discharge notes so I can take my baby home. DH met me here an hour ago and took Cinco home so he could get his insulin on time.

Except for that ugly AMPS, Cinco had a pretty good day, numbers-wise. He is - sort of - getting used to his daily trip to UCD and the new routine. That doesn't mean he likes it. He has the run of the back seat of my car (and what a mess it is!), but he still tries to get up to the front. He's managed to overcome every barrier I've created, and I'm started to think I need to get a screen like they have in police cars and taxis! For a blind kitty, he's pretty darned good at figuring out escape routes. When we were waiting for DH get here and he was sitting in his stroller, he found the one small, unsecured opening and was halfway out before I realized it!

The student that is working on Sasha's case called me this morning to tell me that she had a good night and ate all her dinner. She said that this morning Sasha wanted to cuddle, so she spent ten minutes obliging her! That made me feel good! :) The dentist called later to tell me that Sasha's blood pressure was very low, and if they couldn't bring it up they would have to postpone her CT scan and procedure. Several hours later the student called to say they were able to do everything they had planned. She said that there were actually three lesions in her mouth, and they had removed all three. She said the CT scan did not reveal any bone involvement. :woot: She said they found some lesions in her eyes and were having her seen by an ophthalmologist. She said she was starting to wake up, and I could pick her up around 6 pm. Due to my handing off Cinco, I was here 30 minutes early. so Dr. Riggs brought Sasha out to me, tucked into her jacket! She said Sasha had been "helping" her write the discharge notes, and she thought it would go faster without her assistance. :p:joyful: She said there will be some drops for Sasha's eyes, and we'll go over everything when she's done gathering the meds and writing it all up. So I'm waiting for that now.

Minka did not want to eat again this morning. I ended up syringing 10 cc of z/d. She did eat a little baby food during her fluids. I left the jar for her while I took Cinco to UCD and it was about half gone when I got back.

Harvey is still somewhat subdued. He didn't want his breakfast, but when I offered a different flavor, he ate most of it. If this continues, I'll be scheduling an appointment to have him checked out soon. Heaven forbid we should go a week without a new vet bill! o_O:blackeye:

I'll post more when I get home.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, especially Marilyn & Polly, Deborah & Shasta, Carla & her civvie Baby, Wendy & civvie Theo, and Marje & Gracie. :bighug: Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF and DH, Marje's DM, Chris' DM, Molly's DM, and Elise's DM.

What a little bugger Cinco is! At least you know he must be feeling ok with such a high level of Houdini activity :)

It sounds like Sasha is feeling pretty good too, despite all her medical adventures the past couple of days (she obviously has those vets wrapped around her little paws *grin*)

Fingers and paws crossed that Minka and Harvey pick up soon. Maybe they just want a bit more attention, since Cinco and Sasha are getting so much at the moment?

It sounds like Cinco is doing pretty well under the circumstances. I'm glad they were able to get everything done they needed to with Sasha. Good news it wasn't in the bone. I hope everything with her eyes clears up quickly. Sending vines for Minka and Harvey. Sending prayers and hugs. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I am exhausted just reading this condo! Sounds like adult beverages on the menu tonight.:bighug:

That was a little scary with Sasha having low BP, but I'm glad they were able to do the procedures. Thanks goodness for no bone involvement. All appendages here crossed on the biopsy results. Houdini cat sure isn't helping - but at least he's sort of settling into routine.

And you Harvey and Minka, eat up - momma's attention will get back to you soon enough.

I'm glad that they got all the procedures done for Sasha. Sending vines that the tests come back, NO CANCER!!!!!!

Well Done Cinco! You can'ts keep a good cat in! -- Tess

Phew, so far so good :):joyful::)

I see Cinco still has some bean training to do - Vyktor has the drivers lap when we're driving ;)

Gee whiz, Tricia. I can hardly keep up with one special needs cat. Here at home. Like others said, absolutely exhausted just reading about the adventures of THoC.

Gotta love the Cinco. Nothing gets in his way! Zippers? Nah. Car seats? Nah. What a guy.

Really impressed with the care, not just medical, that you're getting at UCD. Sasha's extra special delivery snuggled in Dr. Rigg's coat. Makes me melt. You are indeed in good hands. And coats.

Sorry the house bound kitties are being troublesome. Lots of upheaval, though. But lots of appy light to encourage Harvey and Minka to eat up!

Vines keep coming.

Marilyn and Polly

Can't really complain about Cinco's numbers....getting into lower blues considering everything going on is a nice safe place to be! Glad he's settling into his new routine, even if he doesn't like it much!

That Sasha sure seems to make friends fast! She seems to become everybody's favorite kitty very quickly over there at UCD! Wow on the 3 lesions....good that you got her over there to get it taken care of and great that there's no bone involvement....now we just need clear biopsy results!! Sending more vines for good results...and wish there was a faster way to get those results!

Maybe Harvey and Minka's appetite problems (especially Harvey) are just their reaction to the changes in routine? The fact Harvey ate most of his 2nd offering is good...he seems to have a habit of being very picky when he wants to be!!

Vines and hugs!!

Hi Tricia, This is a good report on your gang. So glad that Sasha's procedures were able to be done today. She is amazing! Cinco, you're pretty amazing, too.

Yo Deputy Cinco, Just keep watch on shore this evening. Lots of kitties there need supervision, too. Good job during the car ride!

So glad to read Sasha's procedure went well, paws crossed for a good biopsy report. What a great cat Cinco is, never a dull moment when he's around. Continued vines for all kitties, and for you Tricia, as you juggle all their needs. :bighug:

Thank you all for the kind words, the support and vines. It has been a very draining day.

Cinco decided it was time he got back to work. Looks like he found a spot in the lagoon he likes and is gonna surf there...I hope.

Minka hadn't eaten much more when I got home with Sasha. She didn't want dinner. I just got her to eat a little baby food. I don't know what's going on with her, but she just doesn't want cat food. :arghh:

Harvey again rejected the first entree. I caved and gave him some Fancy Feast, and of course he ate that quite happily! Junk food always wins.

Sasha has had an entire jar of baby food since she's been home. They gave her fluids while she was there and she peed in the stroller while I was waiting for Dr. Riggs. Lisa took her away to give her a Cerenia injection (they didn't want to give her anything oral so soon after waking up), and she discovered it and cleaned her up and changed the pee pads in the stroller. She peed again on the way home, so the first thing I did was take her out and wipe her down, poor baby. She seems to feel okay - Dr. Riggs was amazed at how alert and comfortable she was.

So her blood work showed no real changes since her last panel a month ago. Kidney values still borderline, white cell count really high. New was that her red cell count was low - borderline anemia.

The Ophthalmologist found lesions in both eyes. "Blood vessels were seen growing into the ulcers in the left eye on the outer border of the ulcer. This indicates the lesion has been there for a longer time and has been trying to heal. In both eyes, tear production was absent." They gave us AB eyedrops and an eye lubricant to use. They want to recheck this in about a week.

The abdominal u/s showed that the duct that drains bile from her liver, through her pancreas and into her small intestine is dilated. They said that since she is not showing any symptoms - vomiting, diarrhea, this is something to just keep an eye on. There was evidence of an old blood clot on the outer edge of one of her kidneys, which has scarred over. This could account for her slightly elevated kidney values. Her adrenal glands are slightly larger, but they are symmetrical and the doctors feel this is an incidental finding - something else to watch.

The CT scan of her chest showed evidence of her asthma and chronic inflammatory lower airway disease. The lungs look thicker in places, and this could account for the elevated white blood cell count.

There were some broken teeth found during the dental exam, but they would not remove them until the biopsy results come back - doing so could encourage the cancer cells, if present, to spread. They also found some resorption, which they say is not uncommon in older cats.

I love this line from the discharge notes: "Sasha recovered very well from the anesthesia and then she spent an hour sitting with Dr. Riggs and typing medical records". Who knew my baby could type??? :joyful:

So now we wait for the biopsy reports and schedule the follow-up exams. :nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:

On a side note, Dr. Riggs, who I absolutely love, told me she is from Roseberg, Oregon, which is the small town where the mass shooting occurred today! She has been more than a little shaken by it, although she has confirmed that none of her family or friends were harmed. She said it's a very small town and everyone knows everyone else. Just a horrible, horrible day for her, but she soldiered through it, taking just an hour of personal time to contact friends and family. Please send vines and prayers to all the people in that small town, as they are shattered, she said. :(

Looks like Cinco and China are spending some quality time together down in the lagoon.....how sweet....he's probably telling her all about his exciting days and she's telling him all about keeping her mama up all night

But at least they're out there together and seeming to be minding their manners....for now at least!!

I know you're beat and stressed, but you are just so amazing and inspiring...

I'm so glad there is no bone involvement with whatever is going on in sweet little Sasha's mouth. Tons and tons of prayers for the best biopsy results possible. My Frankie has a lot of resorption...we were surprised to hear that she is missing a lot of teeth because of it! Interesting that it can be fairly common like that.

Cinco...kinda reminds me of Trix on her feisty gelcap days! The spunkiness is frustrating, but you just have to love that they have it in 'em to be so strong-willed and feisty!

I hope the appies have picked up again.

Sending prayers for Dr Rigg's and everyone in her home town....yes, another horrifying shooting. Unbelievable.

Vines for today's trip to UCD!
