Yesterday's SS gave me a glimmer of something positive all day until we hit PMPS-418 and then +2-461.

I just don't know if these numbers have to do with the working of SRT or a rise in IGF-1 meaning the tumour is still active and not in a good way.

As I said, he's had a blood panel, etc. yesterday. I did not get an IGF-1 test as we were headed for a CT scan, which ought to have visually clarified his status but here we are and I'm really concerned. The only thing the vet said to me when we were there on Monday is that Eddie has to lose some weight. I told him we were at 15u and he didn't question that even though he had us at 14u last week. What I'm saying is the vet isn't paying the kind of attention that Eddie needs as an acrocat . That is, the vet did not suggest the increase; rather I took it upon myself with help here and the vet didn't notice a change in dose.

I'm beginning to think I'd better get a CT scan for Eddie so that I know what I'm dealing with. I'm concerned about always increasing insulin (I know that acrocats can go much, much higher than 15u) instead of seeking further treatment. He only had one round of SRT, which means he could be a candidate for another. I'm just so worried about him.

I see all the posts here and I don't know how our wonderful admins can keep up. I wish everyone all the best outcomes.

Nothing like that. It's the sign of a cat that's not near a good insulin dose yet and completely typical. He's not spending enough time in normal blood sugar numbers, so his body bounces or complains when he sees them. The only way to slow down the bouncing is to get to doses where he can spend more time in normal numbers. I nicknamed my cat the Rainbow Queen when she was in this phase. Of course, in her case, she was flatter once I switched to Levemir.

Don't bother retesting the IGF-1, there is no correlation between it and the size of the pituitary tumour. The number of cats who have had a second SRT, ever, can be counted on one hand. Until Eddie, I only knew of two others, one being Neko. I asked the researchers at CSU, who have done probably the largest numbers of SRT on acrocats, and Neko was their first after about a decade of doing the procedure. Plus I have seen SRT take a lot longer to start working. The CSU folks also told me not to get the IGF-1 retested. I have seen people do it and it didn't tell them anything. North Carolina State U, also a place with a good reputation for kitty SRT, often does just one radiation day for SRT. You need to be patient, and spend the time getting Eddie to a better dose where he doesn't bounce as much. That is really the only thing you can control at this point. The rest is up to Eddie and his body. I know how hard it is to wait. :bighug:

I stopped talking to my vet about doses once I started getting dose advice here. Other than to answer the question "what is her current dose?".

So, if Eddie is not yet near his good insulin dose--based on the Rainbow Records--and this will be the 4th day on 15u, ought we to be moving higher?

Yes, hold for tomorrow. We don't have any mid cycle data for today or the first night on the dose, so we need a bit more data first.
