Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I've posted here. Kitty just completed a 14-day trial off the juice and I think she did well. I know I was supposed to post here every day, I've just been busy and she seems to be doing well. I just wanted to tag some of the experts here to see what your thoughts are based on her spreadsheet.

Sorry if I missed anyone.

It seems like her preshots she likes to hang out in the low 100s but she always drops down into the green after eating. She's always been a difficult cat to keep her preshots in the green, even when she was getting insulin. Maybe low 100s is just normal for her?

Also, sometimes due to conflicts with my work schedule I wasn't able to get a +3 - 4 reading so I just tested when I could and she had always dropped into the green. There was just one evening on 10/1 that I forgot to set my alarm for the PM cycle and I ended up sleeping through the whole night and didn't check her mid-cycle but she had a preshot of 102 that night so it was pretty close to being green anyway.

So, what does everyone think, was the trial a success or are the blue preshots a problem?

I hope everyone is doing well. :)

Long way from those Novolin days!

Technically she's still within normal range for a human meter. That said, I do think she could have benefitted from the 0.1U dose longer when comparing to OTJ data.

If she were my cat? I'd go back to 0.1U until I saw all greens or she dropped below 50.

Probably no harm in calling it remission either, but it may not last as long.

How/when are you feeding her in relation to what was PS time?
She gets 3 servings of Sheba pate per cycle. Each serving is around 45 calories. So, 6 servings, approximately 270 calories per day. She gets 1 serving at preshot, then 1 serving at +1.5, but she may eat it at +1.5 or +2 or sometimes even later. Then she is offered her third serving at +6 but she doesn't always eat that right away either, I'm not always around so I don't really know when she eats it but its before +9. The hard part is that sometimes she doesn't eat her third serving, I end up having to waste it because she left it in the feeder until it closed up. I think this might be because sometimes she steals food from her brother's bowl (I feed him the same exact food), but he is a nibbler, he never eats his food all at once so I just have to put all his food out in his bowl for the day and just hope that she doesn't eat it, I do keep his food up high on a table and away from her food but I have caught her occasionally eating out of his bowl. So its really difficult to give you a finite answer as to what times she is eating because I'm not always around to control it.

You don't need to set the feeder to close if she's not getting insulin. I'd really like to see less low blue preshots.
