Good morning, cats and hoomans!

I’m interested to hear what the others think on this.Little surfer girl had a later nadir than usual (+3 is typical for her) and has been steady in the mid-50s over the last 2 hours. I've been testing and feeding at odd times today because of meetings and other work distractions, and a delayed snack this morning was likely the cause of the drop from +3 to +4.5. I've also been trying to cut down her portions because she's overweight by at least a pound.
I know that BG over 50 is within the "healthy" range, but shouldn't it be more like a brief dip into 50s before rising again? I'm a little concerned that feeding MC snacks and LC meals every 30-45 minutes has not affected her BG at all. Or maybe it has, and otherwise she would have dropped into hypo territory??
Bottom line, is this normal/healthy/OK?
The 50s per se are not dangerous. Many cats happily surf the 50s on insulin. In fact, there are cats that run even lower (civvies or OTJ) - in the 40s and I've seen a cat in the 30s during an OTJ trial. It's just that when they are on insulin, we don't want them dropping below 50. If you find that you are having to prop up numbers above 50 with multiple snacks of HC, then it could mean that kitty is ready for a reduction. Btw, anything over 15% is HC and not MC.I know that BG over 50 is within the "healthy" range, but shouldn't it be more like a brief dip into 50s before rising again? Hi Karen, I'm only just getting online today. I see she was up to 68 at +5. You want to ensure she is above 50 and not dropping 2 hours after the last higher carb meal/snack which I think was +3.5?

Considering how much HC you had to give her this AM, I think you can try a reduction to 3.75U tomorrow.
