Squallie is definitely feeling good, lol! He kept me up half the night wanting to play, and pawing at his test kit hoping I would test him and give him his favorite treats! Silly kitty! I love it when he's so happy and getting so much enjoyment out of life. :cat: :) Happy kitty, happy bean. But he still has an appointment with the vet to check out his back.

Prayers and healing vines for all who need them. Special prayers for all the victims and people whose lives were touched by the horrible events in Las Vegas, and to the residents of Puerto Rico, who are still enduring devastation and crisis conditions.

Squallie got such a good report from the vet! He always has a tiny bit of angst over Squallie's bg numbers, because he can't wrap his head around the fact that I use a human meter, and the numbers don't equate with a pet meter, so to him, Squall always looks dangerously low. But he said he's never seen an 18-yr-old cat with diabetes who looked so healthy and to keep on doing what I'm doing, because it was obviously working. I don't mind saying, I was pretty chuffed about that, too, lol! :D

Squall has a tiny cataract in one eye, it isn't impeding his vision; the vet had to really listen hard to hear the heart murmur, that really surprised him; he said the resorptive lesion and other dental issues did not look like they had progressed much at all; and the few little bumps that were concerning me are nothing to worry about. I went ahead and got bloodwork done because it's been about a year since last time, and I do worry about his kidneys. Oh, and the vet did a very thorough range of motion test and said that, while Squallie has lost some muscle mass in his hindquarters (just due to age), he had excellent range of motion , and he doesn't think the arthritis is an issue at this point.

So I'm waiting for the results of the bloodwork and we'll go from there. Praying for no surprises!

Well, sounds like a pretty darned good visit! :) I love it when vets are surprised to find that we know what we're doing here! ;)

Sending vines for good results from the bloodwork.

Thanks, Tricia! I really love this vet, even though I don't think he's used to such a "hands-on" bean. I make him do stuff in the exam room that he would normally take the pet into "the back" to do, because I want to be there to help keep my babies calm, and I want to see what he's doing, lol. It's not that I don't trust him, I do, implicitly, but I'm curious. Should have been a vet, myself, I guess!:p:joyful:
