Last Night:
398 PMPS
245 +6

I slept like a log last night and woke up late :-|
J.D. ate his 1st Breffis, not quite as voraciously as he has been, but he seems to be okay.
I switched meters this morning. One Touch was 428 and AgaMatrix Presto-Pro was 372.

I need to get him out for a quick walk, and then get ready to go to work.

I have 3 days off in a row starting tomorrow.
He has an appointment for another (non-fasting, because she wants to compare "like to like" as his last test he ate all day long and then had his test) Spec fPL tomorrow afternoon. Do you think it's too soon to do another test just 2 weeks after the last one?

Have a good day. Sending good dental vines to Hank, and healing vines to all who need them including J.D.

Re: 10/02 J.D. 372

Good morning, Dyana and J.D. Hope you guys have a great day and hope to see J.D. slide down into some yellows and blues!

Re: 10/02 J.D. 372

I hope J.D. will slide down for you today. Yay on the 3 days off. Sending prayers for J.D. to continue to get better.

Re: 10/02 J.D. 372

Hi guys .. no advice on the tests so close together from me, but I hope that J.D. starts feeling back to 100% in no time, and that he ventures down to the lagoon later on .. have a great day guys!

Hi Dyana,
I'm glad that J.D. is feeling some better today. Good vetty vines for tomorrow's test. It is wonderful that you have 3 whole days off starting tomorrow! What will you do with all that time??

Have a fine evening,

Ella & Rusty

Thank you all for the well wishes for J.D.
He shared a plate of 1/2 can of Great Choice Chunky (but it's not very chunky) Chicken Feast with Ginger at PMPS, got his Ondansetron, Clavamox, and Denamarin, and shot and then I had to run out the door.
When I got home at +2.75, he ate another 1/2 can of Great Choice all by himself with some FortiFlora on top.

I could so get used to these flat numbers

Ella, I will be spending the time with J.D. and Ginger, and maybe doing a wee bit of sleeping in and housework.

I hope you all have a good night.

i don't know about the timing of the spec fpl test, dyana. i guess if it were me, i'd want a fasting one, at least for 6 hrs or so. i get the idea of like to like testing, but if you're not getting accurate results, then what would be the point?

as i recall, marje's pro said that to be accurate, the test has to be done on a fasting cat.

ok, i stopped posting and dug up her post on pancreatitis to check that out. here's the reference:

Texas A&M University (TAMU) in conjunction with IDEXX has developed the Spec fPL test. Some veterinarians use the SNAP fPL which only indicates normal or abnormal results. The more definitive test, the Spec fPL, requires that a blood sample be sent to TAMU or IDEXX. It is important to note that a 6 - 12 hour fast is required for the most accurate results. It is also recommended to simultaneously have the blood checked for cobalamin and folate levels as these can be low in a cat with pancreatitis and supplements can aid in recovery.

not sure that's any help, but that's the direction i would probably go.
