Mannie had a really nice day yesterday: blue cycle in the AM, green cycle in the PM. :mrgreen: We started yesterdays PM cycle in the high yellows, went through a mini dive to end up in the greens. It seems that Mannie must have surfed there through the night. :cool: How great it was to see a 99 @ amps. I fed him a higher carb food at ps, perhaps a bit much, as it really bumped him up for his +1. Hopefully it will allow him to have a cycle that progresses to greens. Paws crossed.

I had a sleepy furry purry Mannie at my feet this morning when I woke up. :-D That was indeed a pleasant surprise. He stayed by my side as I attempted to wake up enough, focus enough to get testing done, shot done, food laid out. Breffis was met with his little dance and prance at the food bowl - one excited kitty - loved his trout this morning. Napping now in progress, once again on the old catnip toy stash, but always with a watchful eye on the nanners.

Moonie got home very late last nite!!! She's not even up to speak to Mannie--Guess she had a glorious time!

Raja and Shadow just got home in time for their insulin this morning!. They did text and say they were stopping for breffis!
But, I was in a deep sleep and missed the message... Boy, you kitties sure know how to party! We need more OTJ parties, don't ya think? ;-)

Wow! Green Mannie at AMPS!! I guess he didn't need the higher carbs, judging from the +1!!! Here's hoping for a really good cycle today. Any plans to go hiking? Or visiting Nicholas?

Chef Mannie, That was a great party around the chuckwagon! Oh, the barbeque was fantastic! And all those TEXAS spices. Everyone had a great time eating that food. And I loved grillin'

ha, Pat!...breakfast on the way home....that had to be one busy IHOP with some very demanding customers!!! I'll bet they were relieved to see a huge group of Lantus Land kitties troop in rather than a band of drunken idiots...UNTIL the ordering started! Bet IHOP is being inundated with requests for wage increases this morning!

Mannie is still zonked too.... though I think I heard mumblings about a kitty get together today. -- brrrrr there! no snow here - we were supposed to get some last night - woke up to zippo. silly weather people.

Hi Ella - yes, and so nice on the green amps. Sure looks like he didn't need the higher carb - bad bean ! well, perhaps with onset he'll come back down... Not sure on the hiking - i will do the local stuff here at home - it's about a 4 miler round trip. DSIL wants to go next saturday, and weather permitting we will do that. We are supposed to get snow most of this week :shock: but so far it's a no show... hope to go and visit Nicholas tomorrow - as DD's DH goes back to work, and it's her first day home alone with the baby. she'll be fine, but as all of us, needs reassurance...

Morning Carolyn... I care not to remember New Years Eve and the days that followed. omg. Things are slowly improving, recovering all that he lost that day. :-D :-D Thanks so much on the photo viewing, etc. Great places, aren't they! I am anxiously awaiting spring, well march, when I can start getting back to some of them. For now we do the local stuff.

Hi Michelle and Mannie. What! No Peppermint Mocha Latte today! I'm a little late here myself and catching up on condos. Maggie sure enjoyed the party and all the food and dancing. She even slept later than her Bean!

Michelle, if I were you I would ditch that new meter and go back to your old one. All of this seems to have begun after you got the new meter! Mannie used to bounce, but he didn't used to hit BLACK so regularly! Maybe you need to start over with your old foods, too??
Just thinking out loud, since Mannie seems to be totally normal except for these wild numbers.

Hi Guys -

Ella - I was thinking the same thing. new meter went in on 12/23. all this "stuff" really hit on 12/30, 12/31. Not too sure what to do with the meter. My old one, the maxima, has been discontinued, and shortly strips will no longer be available. and of course I just reordered strips for the new one. I do have another back up, the one touch, but strips for that are very expensive. i dunno.... I think I will try and go back to the original food: Wellness. He does have his dental on 1/11 - perhaps that too is a contributing factor. darn it darn it darn it!

wow - and ugh. i just do not understand why he is bouncing so badly - we get some really great days, and the others are off the charts. baffling.... :sad:

Wow, Mannie please come down. Maybe it is the meter. I know if blood actually gets on another piece of the Alpha strip, I get a wonky number (this was from Abbott when I called about the strips). Did you try a test again and see if it's still same #.

Did you retest?

Curious what meter and strips you are using, sorry I don't know? Is this the same company that makes the Relion strips etc.?

Check in my condo for yesterdays conversation about meters and strips. A new freestyle lite seems to be in my future...

AAhhh Michelle...bummer but I agree with Ella. I have a one touch ultra mini and the strips are more expensive than for your infinity but I get mine on ebay and order 6-8 boxes at a time...have gotten them anywhere from $20-25/box which is a lot cheaper than on hocks...and I just buy them...if you bid, they go for even lower.

Hi guys - I use the Infinity - the replacement issued for the discontinued Maxima, made by US Diagnostics. I didn't retest today, perhaps I should have. I knew he was on the rise, just didn't expect it to be that high.

Beth - I remember reading in your condo yesterday about the freestyle light. I will check that one out too. I wish I still had some Maxima strips left, but I don't - used them all up when I bought the new one...

Thanks Marjorie - I just don't think about ebay. WOW- that is something I could do too, as I am a member there. hmmmm - i did like that meter....

Hi Mannie! What a party we had yesserday, huh! That Shadow sure knows how to be a host! Awesome food fur shur, too! The kitchen crew certainly outdid themselves on the cool menu you planned!!! 535 @ +11. I did do a comparison test with my ultra one touch meter - that too was up - 515. so......... it seems that the boy is bouncing rather badly. Just wish I know why these bounces have become so severe. well - bottom line he feels great. dental is on Tuesday, and while he is here I will also have them do a urinalysis, which is due anyways. At this time he will also have the fatty cyst on his back removed, though I doubt (??) that could be part of the problem.

in the meantime - he's happy, purry, active, securing the nanners. Mannie your bean now has more gray hairs.

Actually, I'm wondering whether Mannie went lower past the +5.7 when you got your last test. I suspect that's the best explanation for his bounce today. And sorry for that bounce. It is pretty impressive.

Sienne - I do believe that you are right. He was starting down again when I went to bed. another case of me being tired enough that I just didn't hear the alarm, or get up to test him after that. I suspect that he went lower. I have compared meters, gone back over food, and there really is no other explanation short of a really nasty bounce. there is no food change (or how I feed what and when), the meters are correct.

so................ one ugly impressive bounce. Mannie you always do everything is the grandest of style.

Whoa, Mannie!! :shock: "Go big or go home" has its limits, buddy!

I feel your frustration on the bounces. Willie's been doing the same since about the same time. Hopefully our boys will get in line soon!
