She is home, but she's far from doing as well as she was last week. Not quite limping, but she looks unsure on her legs. She did not want to go out of her carrier, refused to eat. I carried her out, she protested weakly and went to the heat vent. I gave her the Plavix liquid in a syringe, she's been drooling since. I tried to put yogurt on her mouth but she failed to lick it and just kept drooling.
I hope it's temporary, they said she was walking around and very alert and vocal this morning there. MAybe she was so stressed that she needs time to adjust.
They gave her her shot at 9 so I will have to move it back slowly. No pre-shot test, and she was 169 just now, at +3.

I can't imagine how frustrating this all is, Cecile, but you're doing your very best, and Bella is one lucky cat to have someone caring so well for her. I hope that this new medication will help eliminate this issue for Bella. Sending healing vines.
Thank you, Marielle. I hope so as well!

Just tossing some ideas out there. Did you previously give Plavix as a liquid? I always gave it by pill inside an empty gel cap. The drooling can be seen if a med is bitter. Quick google search says it's extremely bitter and can cause tummy upset on an empty tummy. Can you rinse it out with a plain water syringe?

What is her status with pain meds? She get any at the clinic?

Is that a pink bandage on her leg peeking out? Should it come off?

The pink bandage came off. I removed it after one hour.
Yes, it was the first time I used the liquid, they added chicken flavor but I am sure it still tastes horrible. You reassure me. I'll give her the pill in a gel cap tomorrow, she takes it well like that. I rinsed it with water and then tried a little bit of yogurt.
Pain meds: she had o.2 ml of Hydromorphone at midnight, and 50 mg of Gabapentin this morning at 8. It is now almost 2 pm.
I carried her to her liter box, she walked out of it and followed me very slowly, sat down for a while in the loving room, re-loaf shape for a while, and she walked back to her spot by the heat vent in the kitchen. And she looked at me. Which is great, for the last 2 hours she's been staring into the distance, unfocused.
Still no interest in food. Although she moved her head when my husband took a bag of cheese from the fridge.

I would seriously question that, even after the fact. It seems absurd so I wonder whether one “unit” should perhaps be one vial or pen of insulin rather than a one-unit dose. I’ve had weird things like that happen and been told that it was a misunderstanding about how things are listed the computer inventory (and had the bill corrected). And you’re lucky they let you bring in your insulin —I’ve had some facilities refuse to allow me to being in meds (some sort of liability thing, I guess, or so they say, even if the bottles are labeled).

Glad Bella is home. Did they say what pain meds were on board? Sometimes those can make kitties mellow as well.
Just Gaba, and she had a new one last night but just once, Hydromorphone, which can very possibly make her feel bad.
I mentionned the price ysterday and noticed that they did not charge anything for insulin this time. But you are right, I will look more closely and maybe go back later and ask.
Thank you!

Oh, (((Cecile))), I am so sorry this happened again. :( That is a lot. I hope further tests show what can help her. I hope changing the plavix to pills make her feel better again. I send you many, many hugs and healing vines for sweet Bella. :bighug::kiss::bighug:

Thank you, Heike and Staci.
I just talked with the vets there. She did not eat at all since yesterday 11 pom, refused food there as well.
She had 50mg of Gaba that I gave her, then one shot of Gaba there, one shot of Hydromorphone, one shot of Cerenia, and again 50mg of Gaba this morning.
They suggested trying Miritaz if she is still not eating tomorrow morning.
I will go get some baby food to tempt her, and will make some chicken broth (I am making chicken soup anyway as we all feel bad, very little sleep last night and my husband is half-sick and on call the whole weekend), she usually loves it.
They also advised me to test her glucose (I told hem I did :)) , test before her shot tonight :woot:, and to not give her her shot if she is below 200. Not too sure about that.

Thank you, Diane.
I syringe-fed her some water mixed with some turkey baby food, and gave her about a teaspoon of the baby food directly. She is not interested. It is so weird to see her not wanting food. She did not move at all. I hope she gets better soon, I hate seeing her like that.

Oh Cecile , this breaks my heart
I see you said that the vet said

I would call them . Please keep us updated :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

and constipate her too. Maybe some Miralax in the broth?
She peed after I put her in her box, no poop for now, we'll see tomorrow if she needs it. Still not moving and still no interest in food, even Churo.
I have a question for tonight. she is 120 now, at +11. The internal medicine vet told me to not shoot if she was under 200. I know she will be. I was thinking maybe doing 1 unit, because she is not eating and I am exhausted and not sure I can check her past +3. What do you think? Nothing, 1, or full dose?

I bumped her older thread by mistake. Get some rest, Cecile! I hope Bella gets her appetite back soon for you, it must be hard to see her have no appetite when her normal mode is so food motivated. :bighug::bighug:
Thank you, Seth. Yes, it’s so weird. I was reading what I wrote after her first episode in September and that made me feel better. First, she did not come home that early, she stayed 12 hours longer, like last week. This time we were really trying to cut the costs and the vet thought it was fine, but I realized that after she came home in September, she did not eat much and did not move at all the first night, and then she was very tired the following days. So I am hoping that she will be better tomorrow. But she is not doing well now, just loafing and staring in front of her. She looked at me a few times and moved her ears when I called her. But that’s it. She purred briefly and laid down on her side while I was petting her, too, but again, not for long.
I will try to sleep, but thank you for your messages.

Yeah she's been through a lot of stress and meds so hopefully she will start feeling better once the stress eases and the meds wear off. Bell gets extremely sleepy and out of it on the gaba. Bell also once had a drooling fit when I tried to pill her with Cerenia. It was super scary for me because I didn't know what was going on. But it was 100% the bitterness from the pill.

She stopped drooling, fortunately, tbat scared me. I think it was from the plavix. I gave her Gaba tonight but less, I don’t want her to have pain but don’t want her to be completely sleepy either.
She shoukd have the Lovenox at 2 am. They told me if was fine to be a few hours late but I don’t think I will, not today.
