Yesterday

Bell finally bounced. Hope she can come back to the greens soon, but we've been doing this pattern for awhile.

Long day for me. For my job situation, sounds like my only choice would be to join an agency company that my company hires and then I'd be able to be full remote. I'd be doing my same job for less pay and less benefits but I'd be able to go full remote. A lot to think about...

While I was at work I left a bunch of food out for Bell. When I came home she had only eaten a part of the last section of the rotating tray, meaning she hadn't eaten between 11 AM and 5 PM (she usually eats every couple hours). Found that when had thrown up bile around the apartment. Then I fed her, which she scarfed and barfed (I did smaller amount too!). My life is pretty unsustainable right now :arghh:

She does pretty well with the auto feeder at night (sometimes I wake up and give her a nudge toward it). I think during the day she falls asleep in the sun and when she finally decides she is hungry enough to get up, it is already too long without her eating. Another reminder that I need remote flexibility in my work...

Your work situation sound crazy. Your company would probably pay the same or more to an agency as you get now.

Come on down Bell, blue soon please.

I am bouncing back and forth between laughing at the ridiculousness of this whole situation and being genuinely upset by it. My supervisor told his boss that he would let me work full remote in a heartbeat no questions asked. I also had a conversation with my supervisor where he said I could drive back and forth all day to check on Bell because 50% of me is better than losing me (i politely declined this one :D). Yet, since this is a mandate from on high, my supervisor has no say into any exemptions because they would need to be approved from 5 or 6 levels up the chain. They are now trying to find ways to stretch the rules so I technically meet them, even though I would be less efficient jumping through hoops.

We have a set of decreasing yellows tonight, hope those numbers keep falling

Stretching the rules sounds silly, I get it … but it’s a game and playing it can prolong the game while rules continue to change. Meaning … use the slippery slope. Slowly stretching the new rules in your favor while the new policies dim down over time. We know what this is about, I’d rather see a force to separation package vs walking out door w/ nothing. We know why agency approach is ok to work remote, in that scenario they can cut subk w/ no strings attached. May karma exist and a good path for you come to the forefront.

Hi Seth, I’m hoping all of this leads you to a better work situation in the end. You are clearly valued by your employer but politics plays large here.
It’s such bull this insistence on eliminating remote abilities when your job can be done remotely with no problem.
(I have the same situation, my job is completely possible, done remotely).

I admire your commitment to Bell and her needs. She also obviously needs intense monitoring and support. I know you are doing everything you can to make the right situation work.
Sending you much support and prayers for a path to success for both of you.

You’re doing such a great job with Bell :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Really appreciate the perspective. My problem with stretching the rules and continuing to work in the short term is that it gets my company off the hook without any guarantees to my job security. We have so much work this year and it would be a disaster for my immediate team if I left. My supervisor and his boss know this. I don't have it in my DNA to get myself canned, and I really do respect my supervisor and would not want to put him in that position. I don't think this company-wide initiative is going to change, but I could see enough of a stink being raised and moving up the chains that it may help my case. I think chances are slim, but it is a possibility. I think I'll at least stick it out for a few months and see where things land.

Totally agree about the agency offer. It does work well with what I need, and I don't think I would be in danger of getting cut from that position unless another company-wide cut happened where my direct management didn't have a say in things. But that always could happen (I've seen it once in my 12 years here). But it is a difficult position to accept personally for the principle of the thing.

I'm so glad you are in a position to work remotely with Ivy. This is quite a surreal experience for me. Thanks so much, Staci! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Seth, I am sorry the worksituation gives you so much of a headache. It's all so crazy. :( I hope some more solutions come up.

I am sorry Bell is a an unreliable eater. Binie is similar. Sometimes I don't see her touching her food for a long time. If I pick it up and hold it in front of her nose, she often eats with good appetite and I wonder, why this appetite didn't make her get up and eat.

Good, she accepts the auto feeder. For Binie its something directly from hell. I still try to train her with snacks inside and the only thing she does, is to try to get them out with her paw to eat them on the ground. I hope Bell clears her bounce gently and you get some more of these perfect numbers.:D:cool::D
