Here it is: Day 14 of Walter's OTJ Trial!!!
After 3 years and 4 months on Insulin, Walter finally made it to the falls. I am still in shock that this is actually happening. For the first two years of this journey, Walter didn't even seem close to being regulated, much less going OTJ. And then Walter's numbers started to flatten out and his ss started to look much better. It still took him some time to actually make it to the point where he would hold reductions. We went back and forth between 0.1 units and 1 unit for a while (in smaller increments, of course), but here we finally are. Now let's hope that he will stay in remission.
I had been going back and forth if Mandarin was ready for another trial, but I figured they should have at least one day where the two of them could both say that they were doing an OTJ trial. So we made it official this morning and started another trial. Mandarin has been OTJ three times already, but dental problems and pancreatitis meant that he had to go back on the juice eventually. Not sure if he can pull this off a fourth time, but we shall see.
Either way, my two boys are definitely ready for Walter's OTJ paw-ty today!
