Morning guys! I was running late so am posting a condo from work again...seems there is never enough time in the morning! ;-) Thanks for visiting after bed time Deborah :-D Yesterday: Chyna 1/7

Well, I wrote last night too, the injection of the subqs with the cartrophen last night=mess. Chyna complained when I put the subq needle in but then settled down so I thought ok, we're good. She usually sits pretty good for them. Turned the fluids on...it ran for a little bit then Chyna RROWED and turned around to bite. This pulled out the needle and sprayed fluids everywhere till I got my brain back on and shut them off. SO I picked a new spot and finished fluids to an angry cat :shock: I'm not sure if it was just a touchy spot, or if the cartrophen stung...or both. And I don't know if any of the cartrophen went in or if it was the part of the fluids that went flying all over the wall, bed, and Chyna on the outside :roll: I hope some got in ohmygod_smile I think for Friday maybe I should just do the needle with Cartrophen to make sure :lol:

This morning AMPS=BLECH. I'm hoping its NDW from last nights dosecrease. Chyna ate breffis and was purring and happy...then 15 minutes later I heard rroooh, rrrooooh, hack hack upchuck. Then she did it in another spot just a tiny bit with a line of hair it looked like...and then went to the first one and ate it before I managed to get there :? In the vomit pile after she ate the rest was an unchewed treat from shot time...so I'm not sure if that was it, or a hairball coming, or needing to poo since there wasn't any last night. I gave her a tsp of canola oil and another dish of food...which she wasn't interested in. I had to leave for work so I hope she ate it...I gave her a spoonful and she ate it but wasn't interested in eating yet. I guess she did eat some...of the puke :shock:

So that was my morning/evening last night. I think I need to go find Elsa ~O) ~O) Hope you have a nice day, LL! I'll visit condos as much as I can :-D

Sorry about the messy subq last night. I hope she got the cartrophen in. Sorry about the vomit. I hope Chyna is feeling better and it was just a hairball. I hate it when they eat their vomit. Hopefully the new dose will kick in soon and Chyna will slide down.

It's so frustrating when you're not sure how much meds got IN the cat, isn't it? When I had to give a liquid med that they wouldn't eat in food, I always ended up wearing half and I was never convinced enough went down to help. I think injecting it right into her is a good plan - then you can see if it stings that way.

Around here, if one vomits, another comes along and cleans it up if I'm not on my toes. :o Bleah. Don't know how that do that.

I hope your day gets better and Chyna is more cooperative in the evening.

Oh Lordy!!! What a night and morning you had!! I'm very happy to say that Champ has never been interested in anything that upchucked out of him. I think that would have me making a mad dash to the bathroom to upchuck myself!!! Blech!!! Crappy number this morning, for sure. I hope Chyna came down the ladder. Red is not your color, Chyna!!

We had yellow when I went home for lunch, woo hoo! I haven't seen that for a long time it seems :-D Hope it doesn't cause a trampoline incident!

Hi Carla! She hadn't eaten much this morning, only half of her two morning meals...but she ate her lunch with the leftovers mixed in. Looks like the new dose is working, paws crossed!

Thanks Tricia. I was trying to avoid the extra harpoon poke so I used subqs...but there is only me to hold her so I'd like to make sure it gets in, I guess an extra poke it is :? Our next Cartrophen won't be till Friday, so we will see ;-) Eating vomit isn't cool!

Hi Patty, thanks! I feel the same way, that made me almost puke myself ohmygod_smile :roll: She did come down a bit, to yellow :razz:

I see some green smilies on the board, lets see some more kitties! ;-)

Rachel, I'm so glad your spirits have improved. Believe me, I know how demoralizing it can be when things just don't go well with the kitty even after the best of efforts. I know you'll figure out a better way that works best for both you and Chyna. Glad to see Chyna's numbers improved today as well.

I think Cartrophen is very similar to Adequan, which means it shouldn't sting (Buster doesn't seem to mind in the slightest, anyway). If at first you don't succeed...have a glass of wine and call it a day! I'm sure you two will get the hang of it. Glad she came down a couple floors - much better!

Nice save, Chyna! I hope she surfed that into PMPS. Yikes on the subqs, and the barf (I was eating when I read that...where's our barfing smiley here???). Gotta love 'em, quirks and all. I hear ya on there not being enough time in the mornings....I'm always running in circles.

Classy day for Chyna. :lol: Love that PMPS, but the vomit. Really girl. :roll:

I've haven't had a kitty complain about the Cartrophen - just make sure it's warmed up cause you are supposed to keep it in the fridge. The worst part was the needles are bigger than what I'm used to for giving insulin.

Thanks Laura. I'm a bit of a pessimist so that doesn't help, I try to look on the bright side...it's much easier to see when you have yellow shining at you like today :-D

Thanks Wendy, she was pretty classy today, wasn't she? :lol: I have the Cartrophen in the fridge, and you must have read my mind, as I was wondering if I should warm it between my fingers beforehand like I do with the insulin. It is a harpoon! But smaller than the subq needle at least, I got them to give me 25g instead. It still looks like so much to give compared!

Well, paws crossed on the evening cycle ;-) . She's fooled me before...please Chyna, choose this dose for awhile, and show me some new colors? Hugs to all the beans and kitties, thanks so much for all your kind words and support!

Be a good kitty Chyna and surf that sunny yellow for your mamabean!! I bet she wouldn't be at all upset if you even came down some and spent some time on the blue floor!

Just no ugly bouncing! That's China's forte lately it seems...bouncing or diving

Hi Rachel, thanks for visiting us today. Sounds like Chyna & Tigger are partnering up today - both 400+ on AMPS & both vomiting. Tigger thankfully didn't eat his (sorry, Chyna, that is pretty gross, more like a Drooler thing & not befitting a beautiful classy cat such as yourself :lol: )

It is hard when you're right in the middle of it to get those numbers & not be disheartened, but in the scheme of things, its only a day or two & the path to recovery is not a downhill slide......try to keep it in perspective - that's what I tell myself - & once in awhile it even works! :lol: :lol: :lol:

Do you warm the fluids at all before administering? Probably - it sounds like you do this regularly. Hope Chyna takes well to the Cartrophen - & got some INSIDE today, too!

Hi Amy, fluids are always fun (not) but she usually sits good and just runs away after we are done...this time was a wet experience :lol: I think it's because she knew there was medicine in it this time :roll: I hope that she keeps heading in the right direction ;-)

Hi Suzanne, I agree on the vomit thing...yuk. I do warm the fluids, she likes them pretty warm (around 100 is where she doesn't complain, since cat temp is apparently 102) so sometimes the bean is a little lax (read: impatient) and gives them a few degrees cooler than that as it takes so long to heat to 100! I will keep telling myself, it's just a number, one number ;-)

I hope the Cartrophen isn't why she was puking today...appy seems a little off on all the meals. Maybe just an off day...night night LL. I hope you all sleep well!

Sorry the frustrating day. Sometimes it seems like one of those days. You are working so hard... Is Chyna eating OK now? Maybe a hairball ?

I like those yellow numbers!
