Remember the days when we could just feed our cats and not worry if they ate it, cause they would eventually in the day...that’s what I miss most, instead, I open a buffet of food and hope he eats one! I don’t mind the late nights, to picks pokes, just eat Bella!!

Yep , same thing with Ravan. I was ready to syringe feed him his regular cat food. But i decided to lightly cook some ground turkey & after smelling it f-o-r-e-v-e-r he finally ate some.

I agree! I've spent many hours crying ,trying to figure out what to feed him. (and the huge amount of food I've thrown out! The critters that come in my yard are getting FAT!)
If it wasn't for the insulin shot I'd just wait till he got hungry. Last night he had so much carbs I'm really surprised he's eating at all today.
The other thing that concerns me is I do Not want him gaining any weight. I know that alone can cause problems with the diabetes & other things too.My vet told me nearly a year ago it was going to be very difficult! I had NO IDEA!
Oh, the things we do because we LOVE our Kitties!

I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to daily feedings because Ming eats like a garbage can IF it's his food of preference that day. But when he's sick and not eating, it's like I'm hit with a ton of bricks and then I get so worried sometimes I shake. It's just the imminent idea that he'll have another panc attack that gets me and then the question of, do I shoot???? What do I shoot?????

One thing I like about this forum is how much we all love each other's kitties, too. I have kind people in my life who feel bad for me when I'm worrying about a sick kitty, but they don't really feel for the kitty the way people here do. Here, I know people empathize with me and they love Felix.

I love you, Bella! I love you, Ravan! Etc.

It all quickly feels like a close family,Kitties included. When something happens to one of the Kitties I get so upset I can hardly function & feel such Empathy for the kitties mom. I know I'll go thru that sad experience someday also.
When one of the kitties goes into remission it's such a wonderful feeling of JOY! A time to celebrate. A really good day!

The people on this form have more in common than most families do !

Ravan is doing well, it wouldn’t be so hard if I didn’t have to get up at 4:30am and then go to work

I remember those days!! I didn't get much sleep then either. My 2 little boys.a house & yard to take care of & I worked 40 hrs a week. I look back on it now & wonder how I did it !
You know what though, I was a lot more organized then I am now. Now it seems all I do is take care of the Kitties & my house is falling apart!! ( me too )

Ha ha...my vet said the same thing - somewhere in his 'if it were my cat, I'd put her down' comments - which made me so upset I barely heard what else he had to say...but he did say it's very difficult to regulate a diabetic cat - yes, we love our kitties and the things we do for them...oh my...only 'we' understand the efforts we go thru and why we do it...other people ' the outsiders' they just don't get it. Even my mother told me yesterday after I mentioned that I hadn't gotten much sleep the night before because Luci was low and I had to get up at 2:30 a.m. to check on her - she said, why don't you just have that cat put to sleep and get yourself another kitty... Mom! Luci isn't disposable! I can't just put her out with the trash!!! As usual...she isn't thinking about what she's saying...she finally said, well I never could tell YOU what to do...and well, you're not going to start now mom (I'm 65 years old for God's sake!)...I can decide what's best for my cat...and it's certainly NOT THAT! She's got a lot of life left in her...thank you very much...and that's why we all do what we do...cause we love our kitties..

Hang in there mama's...it'll get better. Or it won't. And we all know the sad truths about that

I was so excited last night because I got 5 hours of sleep in a row!!!

We do need to take care of ourselves, even if it means we don't do everything "perfectly". Because after all, if something happened to us, who could ever do this???

Good luck tonight, hope you get some sleep! I remember Christmas night, Hogan had a random green at 3am, and I set my alarm to check him again at 4am, but I was so exhausted I slept though it and didn't wake up until 7am. My first thought was "Well, at least he's still alive!"
