Sweet! Although Bing has decided to end his hunger strike by eating Alska's snack so I had to re-fill it and run it back upstairs. I stopped feeding raw last week because they got tired of it. I am making a new batch this weekend.

Just pondering....could it be that the raw is TOO low carb? Since you found that he does better with a little more carb for a snack. Just wondering. I do understand that the raw, almost zero carb, should be the absolute best for a cat, but ECID, maybe he needs just a tad more. Since I don't make raw, don't know how you could adjust the carb level and keep it steady. Just something I was thinking about when you said you weren't feeding it right now. Ignore me, I'm half asleep.

He looks great today!

Re: 1/8 Alska AMPS=130

Well, but the raw is not his only food. It is really just a healthy appetizer and always followed by a can of Tiki. Then Alska gets his snack left in a bowl in his room, on his shoebox. Since the raw's protein content tends to fill them up, they don't usually eat all of the Tiki thus leaving a lot of it behind to graze on during the day. It took a lot of experimenting to get to this routine. Two courses per meal = lots of plates

So when the raw is on hiatus, they just get a little extra Tiki.

You know too low in carbs has been discussed before. And yes for some cats as well as human diabetics there is a too low point. Even though Maxwell has been OTJ a long time he does much better on 7-9% carbs than he does on 2-5% He is more alert and playful on the higher carbs.

Autumn I rotate her carbs she gets the low low stuff for breakfast so she only has the lowest possible before onset, then at lunch she gets the 6-8% stuff to slow her roll once onset has occurred.

I have a sharpie in the cat food cupboard that I mark the tops of all the cans with the carb percentages. So I know at a glance what I'm feeding when.

Then there is Casey who carb percentages don't seem to mean a thing as much as volume. If I can keep him from eating his body weight times 2 does great but like yesterday he got away with eating his food as well as nearly a full can that I put out for Maxwell and Lady Jane last night so he's shooting the moon today.

Yep Mel - me thinks me knows that now. So I have the raw, 2% Tiki and 8% Wellness in his diet. I hope this does the trick - seems good so far. We get so carb sensitive - in fact I was initially afraid to feed him the wellness because it was so close to that 10% bar - ah we learn. And I now have myself quite the chunky FD cat. I am cutting back his portion sizes. Don't want Casey to surpass him down the scale

Hope you are feel less sore today.

Yay...great #'s for Alska! I think it's so funny that Bing likes to go in and cover up after Alska uses the litter box. That even sounds like some humans I know. ;-)

Re: 1/8 Alska AMPS=130

That's not so strange, another cat covering I guess. I didn't know it happened to others.

When I was a kid, we had 2 cats, 1 that wouldn't cover and 1 that would either cover or just kick it out into the floor. Saw her do it many times right after the boy cat went potty. Crazy kitties!
