Hi Lantus Land Friends,

I hope you all had a great holiday season. Sorry I haven't been around. Weve had a rough time around here with hubby in the hospital, me sick and then Racci with an ulcerated cornea! It's been nuts! I'm just getting over another bout with the flu so still very weak & DH is home but I have visiting nurses, ots, pt's, etc for him almost every day so it's still hectic.

Racci's eye has healed, thank goodness!!!! The dr. thinks it was from Herpes but I find that strange at 17 to all of a sudden come out. I thought the brat, otherwise known as Benji the kitten, might have scratched her. The vet said no. He kept tryin to look in her eyes & I kept yelliing at him to leave her alone. I guess he could see something was wrong and that's why he was trying to touch and look in her eyes? I was afraid she would be blind in that eye! Her numbers however, are crazy. She's had more yellow numbers lately than she has in years and even had a pink! I've been thinking of raising her dose but then I see those days with low numbers & I decide to reconsider and give her a little longer to recover. She seems like she feels fine though so I may take her for one more vet visit before deciding. I put the last week's bgs on the top since her ss is hopelessly out of date again. I'll have to start up as soon as I can. Right now just being able to count on getting online everyday to post would be nice!

This cold weather is something else, isn't it???? I can't bellieve it was below 0 with the wind chill here! That just doesn't happen in this neck of the woods! :lol: I hope ;you're all surviving it alright without burst pipes or anything.

I've checked on your ss a few times and saw it was way back there so I 've often wondered how you were doing.

Wishing you a bout of wellness...
you've been long overdue and had so much to deal with. ( I joined that club with you recently with family issues and you'll just have to go read backwards)

Maybe as you are able to get regular posting , Racci will oblige and get more regular too.

Hi Rhiannon!

I missed you! You're right about that, I sure could use some good health around here for a change! It's just wearing me out. :smile: The worst of it is that I've been hurting too much to type much so haven't had access to my friends online. That's a drag.

I do have some good news though. Racci the Princess who would only eat one thing, is now eating several new things and relishing them! Just like thatt she decided to humor me and try it when offered and she liked it!! I think she's been watching Benji refuse to eat her reg. food and gulp down his different foods every day and that changed her mind. :lol:

Please remind me which club? I'll check it out. I haven't been online except for a quick solitaire or something on pogo since it hurts to type too much.

I can't wait for Racci to get back to her normal self again. She seems so well though. You wouldn't know she's 17 except for the amount of sleeping she does. She's very alert and loving and playful again and eating well. It's a weight off me, that/s for sure. :-D

How is Shadow doing?

It really sounds like you've had your hands full.

One thought -- how old is your Lantus?

I'd be reticent to suggest a dose increase without any PM tests. If things are quieting down, any chance of a routine before bed test?

Yes, I am definitely ready for some normal lesser chaos, that's for sure. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I'll get better again. I just don't do well in the winter and with DH and Racci adding their illnesses to mine, it's been really rough. I would go back to Ca or Fl if it didn't mean leaving my grandson but I would miss him too much and they need me to help out with baby sitting.

I was thinking the same about some night tests but I haven't made a before bed yet. I keep falling asleep in the living room in front of the tv and am so groggy getting her before bed meal and coffee ready for the morning, etc that I haven't had the strength yet. Hopefully I'll feel stronger in a couple of days. This is really the first day I've felt human from this flu. I did the same tonight. I was closing down the computer now after falling asleep after med time when I saw your post.

I didn't think of that, the age of the insulin. I did buy it on sale a while ago. it's not expired but older than usual since I bought an extra bottle. I better check the dates. It has been in the fridge the whole time but who knows? Thanks.
