Good morning :coffee:!

?Kris has not been able to remove Owens food prior to testing for the past week. I think this may be why his pre shot numbers have been so variable. I’m wondering how big of a deal this is? As a cat gets tightly regulated should we expect them to have normal numbers regardless of when they last ate? Should I get Kris an auto feeder so Owen can be fasted for his pre shot tests?

Once you have data the two hour rule doesn’t matter. It only enters in if the preshot is low and you aren’t sure whether to shoot. In that case you stall and see if the BG goes up. The auto feeder might help if low and she needs to leave but she can also just leave out food.

Wouldn’t an unfasted number be higher? I’m just wondering if these pre shot numbers in the 130s and 140s are a result of a recent meal? I guess if it’s not influencing our decision to shoot it doesn’t matter?
 
Yes. If food influenced the preshot will likely be higher. It’s not important. Once you know approximately how big a food spike he gets a fasting preshot is not needed. What matters is his how low the dose takes him.
