I did not realize the +2 would be higher than the preshot. Is 174 at +7 ok? 3.8 almost 4u seems like alot of insulin. But nothing else is working.
pmps was 2 hrs late with shot...slept thru..working midnights and taking pred myself making sleep wonky. grumpy_cat

Re: 1/7 Mickey amps 254 +2 272

I feel 3.8u was reasonable. You've been at 3.6 for quite awhile and haven't really seen much movement. Would be nice to get a +6 ( +5 and 7, if you can) to see what effect it's had at nadir.

Re: 1/7 Mickey amps 254 +2 272

It's not unusual for the +2 to be higher than the ps. Typically the onset is around +2, so those first 2 hours after a shot would have rising numbers. I generally don't bother with +2s with Charlie, 1st because I'm not usually able to get them, but also because when I do the numbers are usually before his onset. Hopefully if you're able to get another test in later that'll show some good movement!

This topic [from the Sticky] talks about overlap and the rising numbers up to +2 situation:

Bottom line is that I feel that if you are doing a variable/scale dosing type thing than the rising might point to not enough insulin. If you are doing fixed [or something like that] then this would indicate no overlap?

Just some food for thought.

Wow, great job getting that data today! How many fingers do you have left? Really nice to see a blue #! I think we can still get him in better #s, but this isn't terrible. Some cats just need more insulin than others, it is a puzzle. Some of the ones on the doses around 1u I presume have some pancreas action going on (just guessing).
