Yesterday was...... BLUE DAY in MannieLand. Rumor has it that the Blue Mannie Group was performing live on Main Street in DisneyLand...... Way to go guys! What a great day for Mannie. We had been yellow and pink the day before, several days before. It was great to have him have a blue day: a nice steady blue surf. We hope for a great day today - lots of Blue for the Blue Mannie Group. This morning Mannie will also be seeing his cardiologist for a BP check, and to make sure the meds he is on are still the right ones at the right dose. I am looking forward to talking with him about Mannie's issues the past few days, and get his take on it all. Don't worry Mannie - you don't have to stay! I Promise!! I hope to hear from his regular vet too on lab results. I started putting his pills in Baby food yesterday too, that worked exceptionally well - he gobbled that all up, not one flinch, pills taken. YAY! I so hope he doesn't catch on.... paws crossed! Lubs ya big guy! cat_pet_icon

All is well in MannieLand. :-D :-D Mannie had a much better day yesterday that the past few ones rolled together. The blues were great, his appy was great. He spent most of the day sleeping, but over all he seemed to feel a little better, even though we really haven't done anything to make him feel better, yet. I spent more one on one time with him too. He seemed to like that - I got lots of purrs. We did manage to get a few rays of sun yesterday. not many, but enough to have a few show up in the living room. Mannie is funny - it's like he knows they are there, it's an instant magnet. :-D   We are still cold here, and not one of the cats has any interest in venturing outside. It's been cold, windy and wet... I too would sleep all day with weather like that, if I could.  This morning we had a great test, feed (for amps at least, so far) and shoot and clean plate club (with encouragement), purrs and lots of cuddles. Normalcy, sort of, in MannieLand.

Have a great day everyone. Today I have Mannie's cardio appt at 9:30, and then the yard drainage contractor will be here to evaluate our property and see what can be done to eliminate our drainage issues. That should be interesting, and I hope it won't break the bank....

Hey everybody!! I LUBS DISNEYLAND!!!! What funs - it was so cool too that we stayed late and watched the fireworks. The bestest part for me was that the BMG got to platy on Main Street! WOO HOO - we did great!!! But wow - I am so tired.... we so need a chillaxin' day - like on the beach or sumthin'! What do you guys think? Beach, radiators, treehouse? dunes? Let me know - I am ready for anything - as long as there is grillin'! and fuds! ~ Mannie

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316 - cardio/BP appt

Morning Michelle and sending many good Vetty vines today for the Cardio Vet. Hope all goes well and you get some answers to all your questions. What a nice day with Mannie geting blue and performing with the BLG. What a great solution with placing the pills in bf. I use bf all the time to mix Miralax and get it in Mags. I can't trust placing it on food any more. Good luck with the contractor today.
Mannie, thanks for the 10 hour coffee and Triple Espresso, so good and strong just perfect, Auntie Ann

Hey Mannie, it's raining and damp here this morning, but will clear up this afternoon, so beach should be real nice for one option if everyone is ready for some fun and sun in the ocean. I think we need to remove Vettty smell, too, so I'll bring some scented lotion to the Treehouse. See ya soon, Mags

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316 - cardio/BP appt

Hi you two.
Mannie, you always know exactly what we need!!! Those triple shots.... now i'm awake and ready to go!! Thanks so much sweet barista!

Michelle, lots of good vetty visit and vetty result vines and prayers. .. and no pee in carrier ;-) It so great that Mannie and the BMG are back at it! I love listening to them!! Will be waiting to hear the reports. Congrats on the baby food pill delivery!!

Hey Mannie, it's sunny and beautiful here. Wanna take the boat out and do some fishin? The water's calm so we could anchor, fish, listen to tunes, grill on the back of the boat? We got lots of inner tubes on ropes.. we could all float and chill. And it would get the vetty smell off of you. i got my backpack and will go anywhere for fun.. - oliver

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316 - cardio/BP appt

Morning Ann ~O) ~O) ~O) THX on the vetty visit - I hope it goes well. Paws crossed. Yupp, the BF is working well right now - less stress for all concerned, and I know he gets the meds that way, plus he loves the stuff. And he can just enjoy his breffis, no worries on meds hidden in there. Funny how he figured that out. THX too n the contractor - that ought to be more than interesting. :-D
Auntie Ann - you are welcome! barista-ing is my life! I LUBS it - you need more? ~~ Mannie, kitteh barista

Morning Mary ~O) ~O) ~O) Many thanks - it was a good day yesterday for him (WOO HOO! BMG, and the blues!), hope he can get back there today, after we get back from the vetty/cardio dude place. I so hope it is a short visit. Me too on labs and results and BP. Hope all is well. THX too on the pills - this is easier, as long as he keeps accepting the method of delivery - so far, so good!!
Auntie Mary - you is so welcome! I love my job!!! My bean said the same thing: I a awake now, thank you Mannie, my favorite barista. heeheehee... :-D ~~ Mannie, kitteh barista

Maggie - cool! It is raining here too, but they so no relief! Good thing we gots a good roof on the treehouse. The beach there sounds awesome - sun and sand and grillin'. WOO HOO! uhhhhhh..... yeah on the vetty smell.... I gots to go back today for a bit, but my bean says it is a short visit. phew! See you at the curb! ~ ~Mannie

Oliver! DUDE! OOOOOOOOO! Sunny and warm ? and FISHING???? AWESOME, yes let's do that! then we can go to Maggie's beach - it will be sunny there by then. Oh this is so cool. and you can grill on the back of the boat???? REALLY???? Even better! and inner tubes?????? I am so there! Weeeeeeeeeeee! See you soon ~~ Mannie oh. yeah. i know on the vetty smell... i will needs that too......

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316 - cardio/BP appt

Let's come back down to those blues you looks so handsome in, Mannie!

Sending good vetty vines. Awesome with the BF/Pill trick!!! These guys are just so stubborn sometimes. Hopefully the tastiness of babyfood will over-ride any suspicions he may have!!

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +2 292 - cardio/BP appt

292 @ +2. WOO HOO! we have left the pink floor, found the yellow one. GO MANNIE!

Morning Amy ~O) ~O) ~O) I hope so too: on to the blue floor. THX too on the vetty vines. It should be OK: just a check on the BP and the BP meds. Love the BF thing - whatever works! I so hope he doesn't figure this one out, like he did the others. such a hassle! So far the lure and the taste of the BF has overridden anything in there. Sure hope this continues, as it is an easy way to get those meds in him. :-D

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +2 292 - cardio/BP appt

Good Morning, Michelle & Mannie,

We are sending our good-vetty-visit vines to Mannie today and hoping that the cardio vet will give you good answers to all your questions, Michelle. Looking forward to your update later this afternoon.

Mannie, that triple shot was really needed this morning. It helped me get through my accounts!! (not a favorite chore). THANK YOU! Good numbers to start the day--BLUE MANNIE already! Yay!!

Good luck with the drainage guy. I hope he will find a solution! We are dreading the snow melt this spring. There is so much snow and it will melt, but hopefully not as quickly as it did 2 years ago, when we had the major problem in the basement.

Check back with you later.

Ella & Rusty

Yo Mannie, When you get back from the vetty bean we will all go out on Ollie's boat to fish and then chillax on Maggie's beach while we grill the fish. I'll bring the grillin' stuff. We'll get all that vetty smell off of you. See ya later, pal,

Rusty

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +2 292 - cardio/BP appt

Hi guys .. I hope the vetty visit goes well for you and that his meds are right where they need to be .. and great job on finding something mannie will eat with those little "additives" Good luck with the yard contractor, hopefully not too expensive of a job .. have a great day guys!

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +2 292 - cardio/BP appt

Morning Michelle. Sending good cardio vetty vines to Mannie. Hope you get some answers from him regarding these latest issues. I'll be looking foward to your update.

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +2 292, +4 202 - cardio/BP appt

202 @ +4 Almost blue!

Morning Ella ~O) ~O) ~O) Many thanks on the vetty visit - I hope that goes well, and will be ever so glad when it is over: nerve-wracking! THX too on the drainage guy - I am actually looking forward to what he has to say. I son hear you on these fast snow melts - we went through that back in '97 - guaranteed flood problems when that happens. I hope you won't have to go through that again. I remember your basement issues.... well he this guy has some answers/solutions for us.
Auntie Ella - WOO HOO! I am so glads that you liked it, and that it got you through those accounts. My bean was that way yesterday - My barista stuff was working overtime. I am working on those good numbers - almost there! ~~ Mannie, kitteh barista

Morning Devon ~O) ~O) ~O) THX on the vetty stuff - I hope all is as it should be too. Poor Mannie - another vetty visit. and so agreed on the BF stuff. at least it is working.... many thx on the contractor too.

Morning Anne ~O) ~O) ~O) Many thanks for the vines... Paws crossed that all is well. Will update as soon as I can.

Rusty - will do! Sounds awesome. I so wanna go fish at Ollie's...and i LUBS Maggie's beach. See ya in a view. Gotta go to the vetty now.... ~~ Mannie

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +2 292, +4 202 - cardio/BP appt

Morning guys! Paws crossed for a good vetty appt, poor Mannie! Nice string of numbers for him woo hoo! Way to go on the baby food hope he doesn't catch on! Good luck with the drainage issues, hope it is an easy fix and inexpensive! Glad u got some one on one time with Mannie too cute! My kitties know the precise time the rays come through the dining room window too & they head out there. Have a great day, look forward to hearing the results! Take care!

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +6 153 - cardio/BP results

153 @ 6.2. WOO HOO! We are blue, and a nice post vetty BG reading....

CARDIO/BP results: well we made it there and back.... The BP test was, in the cardio vets opinion, an invalid read. Mannie was so agitated, and squirmy and so not wanting that little white band on his leg that he was far from relaxed and the readings were way off the charts - like 240.   ;-) so..... we will repeat this check in a couple of weeks, and if need be mildly "sedate" him so that they get a more relaxed reading, factoring in the effect of the sedation. Today's test, in his opinion, was not reliable. so it goes I hear in the world of BP testing... and this was after I had stayed with him for 15 minutes got him in a nice relaxed state. The minute he saw the two lab techs and that machine and the BP band and the gel it was all over.  aiyeee! in regards to the other questions: plavix and possible nausea: he feels that we need to know first if Mannie is dealing with a UTI, and once that is under treatment, after a week or so, if the nausea still persists then we can change meds. If his labs reveal no UTI we will change sooner. so for now: lab results first, consult, followed by possible meds adjustment, BP test again in a few weeks. Meds will stay as is for now.

Hi Michelle ~O) ~O) ~O) The appt went OK. didn't really get the BP evaluated, but did discuss the concerns, so it was good. Me too on the baby food. So far that is working really well. THX on the drainage contractor - paws crossed there too. Funny isn't how our kitties know when it is sunshine time?

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +6 153 - cardio/BP results

Hey guys... Sorry to hear about the invalid BP test.... White coat syndrome does it every time  hopefully the lab results will show you which way you need to go, new meds or not. I hope Mannie will let them do the BP check next time.

Hope you are having a great day, Mannie is showing you a pretty midday blue

Kathie

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +6 153 - cardio/BP results

Bummer on the BP test, but not unexpected. It's so hard w/ multiple issues going on. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: But wow on the nice blue post vetty number! I wonder if it would have been green w/out the visit.

Good luck on the contractor, I hope he has a solution. I hear you on the snow melt too, in MN we had a flat roof and a leaky basement! ohmygod_smile

Mannie ! We is almost exactly the same! I think a nice soak in the hot-tub in the tree house and then fishing is just what you need! KTTS has everything ready! -- Tess

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +6 153 - cardio/BP results

I'm so sorry on that BP test. I guess Mannie has had enough of vetty visits for now. Poor guy....hopefully he'll be more relaxed next time.

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +6 153 - cardio/BP results

Drat on the BP reading, or rather the lack of a reading. Mannie, Zener says to just relax and then it's over quicker. Very nice cycle! Especially after a vetty visit. :-D I hope the drainage guy has some good ideas.
Liz

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +7.5 117 - cardio results

117 @ +7.5, and down he goes! So so Mannie. One never knows what you will get after a vetty visit: he either goes stratosphere, or he is on the hunt for mermaids... today it looks like it is mermaids....  ;-) LOVE the 117 though!

Hi Kathie - yeah on the white coat. he was having nothing to do with the lot of them - did not like teh gel stuff... and made sure they knew it.  Well it happens, we try again, and they were nice enough not to charge me for it. SWEET! so now we wait on labs - ugh. I so do not wait well.... LOL!

Hi Ann - yupp on the BP test - it was not unexpected... wish we'd gotten it, but not today. a big yes on the multiple issues thing.... aiyee! I hope the labs on the other things come in soon. like today! :-D Me too on the BG number - what would it have been - lower or higher! this visit seems to have sent him looking for mermaids....  THX on the contractor - and me too! drainage seems to be the isue, I hope he can fix us.... i so hear you on the flat roof (we aren't, but close enough, a very minimal slope), leaky basement and too much rain..... ARRGGHHH!!!

Hi Amy - yupp, big bummer, and I am with you - he has had enough of those vetty people, even though he seems to like the cardio guy - relaxed with him, but not those techs!

Hi Liz - DRAT says it well! and that is what I kept telling him relax and we are outta here. He was cool until teh techs showed up.... hmmmmm... oh well, we try again in a few. THX too on the drainage guy. :-D

TESS! OOOOOOOOOOOOOO! That sounds perfecto! I LUBS hot tubs - let's do it - that'll cure anything! then fishing! and then the beach! WOO HOO! I feels better already!~ Mannie, cardio patient

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +7.5 117 - cardio results

Oh darn on the b/p test but so understandable. You got answers as to the meds and waiting first to see if it's a UTI, so now you have a plan and just need results of the UTI. Maybe they should take those darn white coats off! :-D
Oh boy Mannie, we really need to do it up good today removing that Vetty smell. Then lots of good food and good times today,

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +7.5 117 - cardio results

I wonder if they could teach you to do it there. If he is calm w/ you and the vet, maybe you could get it while alone w/ him and he is relaxing. Also have you tried RR before going?

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +8.5 127 - cardio results

I like Ann's suggestion but what I wonder is if there is a mobile vet that can come do it for you? Or maybe your regular vet's tech would be willing to stop by and do it at your house some time when Mannie is snoozing happily with his nanners? Paws crossed he does not have another UTI. It's good he seemed to be feeling better today....at least before the vetty appt!

Good luck with the contractor. I hope they can help you with the drainage issues. We had French drains put in our backyard from the get go and they work like a charm but we don't have as much rain nor do we have a basement where it would love to run to. Hope you find a great one!

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +8.5 127 - cardio results

Hi guys glad to see Mannie is home safe and sound. Bummer on the bp test, there must be an easier way! Hope you can find a resolution on that, paws crossed! Woo hoo on good numbers after the vetty visit! Hope you have a good rest of the day and get those drainage issues solved!

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +8.5 127 - cardio results

I thought of that Marje, but there is still the white coat syndrome. Also it may be an issue taking the monitor out of the office.

I got the PetNaturals UT Support treats today and Tess thought they were a great treat! :-D :-D :-D Apparently no cranberry taste. here's the info I've collected on Cranberry supplements so far.

I also found this article on DVM 360 which pretty much dumps on the idea of cranberry being other than wishful thinking. :YMSIGH:

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +8.5 127 - cardio results

Hey Michelle, been at work all day and wanted to check in. Bummer on the BP and I sure hope he doesn't have a UTI. Sounds like you have a good plan and a contingency plan as well - no surprise there my dear. Yeah for the good numbers after the vet visit. If it were Scratchie he would have gone to the stratosphere!! :-D

Have a nice evening...

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +11 126- cardio results

Michelle, just getting in the door and wanted to see how things went. Too bad Mannie would just not cooperate with the blood pressure reading. I wish our kitties would understand that the BP cuff is so much easier and less painful than getting blood drawn. It might be a good idea to check into getting the BP done at home. I think Claudia checked Rocket's BP at home so you might want to contact her. I could be wrong, but no harm in asking. She is always so helpful.

Very nice numbers this evening!!

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +11 126- cardio results

126 @ +11 WOW - still blue!

Hi Ann, and Maggie - Yupp, got the answers I needed, what I expected to hear so now we wait. I sure hope the vet/labs calls soon.... this waiting is difficult. I know on the white coats!

Hi Ann, and Tess - might be a good idea with the RR - didn't think of that. I wonder if they could teach me, or at least have me be the one that holds him. That would help. Thanks too for all your info - much appreciated. WOO HOO that Tess likes the treats. It seems that there is always someone who is dumping on an idea... kinda expected I guess.

Hi Marje - Yupp, I will ask to about the mobile option - might be good way to go. I will have to see if that is a go with them or not. Might be as Ann suggests. And it looks like he does - the UTI: we need to wait for the C&S but the urine they did get (not enough for a UA too) was very cloudy,... so... chances are he does. THX on the contractor - nice guy, came and looked, wants to scope the drainage system see where the problem is... next step, then a plan to fix, repair, or replace. I hope it is fixable.... :? :? will see what they find when we have it scoped.

Hi Michelle - So I would think on an easier way to get a BP test. this was crazy, as hard as they tried to be calm with him he just wasn't interested in the whole thing. I need to check out mobile. THX on the numbers - he is looking good today. GO MANNIE! THX too on the drainage...waiting on the next step now.

Hi Georgia - yupp, agreed. I think part of the problem is that he is done with the vet - two visits in three days... no way was he giving them what they wanted.  Silly cat! Oh I know on ho it is done - really not painful. aiyee! Thanks on Claudia - I somehow remember that so I think I will see how she accomplished this. Thanks!

Hi Jo - yupp on the BP check - oh well, we will try again in a few.... vet seems to think he does have a UTI - it is a recurring problem with him. We hope so on the plan, and the backup plan.... we wait now to see where Mannie will take us. I know on the numbers - wow! usually we get the stratosphere.

Maggie - that would be an affirmative! I so stink!!! phew-ieeee!I am so there for the good fuds, and the good times. Let's roll!~~ Mannie

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +11 126- cardio results

Well I'm glad that Mannie is done with the vets for a little while. He'll need a lot of make up cuddles and nanner hugging today. Please pass on a few extra scritches from us. Sorry about the BP, but I think you are right that he is done with the white coats. Gorgeous blues today in spite of it all!

Good luck on the drainage. There was a slide in our area a number of years ago that had a number of houses redoing their drainage afterwards. Fortunately we were far enough away, but there were lots of different solutions implemented. Paws crossed the insurance will cover some of it.

Re: 1/7 Mannie AMPS 316, +4 202, +11 126- cardio results

'Evening Michelle
Great on all the blue :-D

Oh, the dreaded 'white coat syndrome' Hey Mannie, Auntie Barb's got it too
My bp has to be taken when I go in, and again after being there a while. At my age, my bp should be stabler, huh?

I'm sorry, they couldn't get a good reading on him, Michelle
Indeed, gorgeous blue, in spite of it all :-D

Someone could make a fortune, inventing bp machines for home use on pets, like we have for ourselves. I asked vet once, if they made a tiny cuff I could use with my own machine. Got a laugh anyway.

Hope you get decent news from drainage guy, and it won't cost an arm &a leg.

Re: 1/7 Mannie PMPS 125 - cardio results

That's a nice blue PMPS, especially with the vetty visit. Sorry they couldn't get a good BP read. Hopefully you'll get the lab results back soon so you'll know how to proceed. At least the cardio vet is willing to change meds if necessary.

Re: 1/7 Mannie PMPS 125 - cardio results

125 @ PMPS - woo hoo, what a glorious Pmps! And he ate, but it took a higher carb food than I wanted to accomplish that eat. well... at this stage of the game eating is needed, even if it means a higher carb food... Hope it doesn't send him skyrocketing...

Hi Wendy - Me too on the vets - he was so done. When He realized this morning that I had the carrier out he took off an hid in the basement. Poor Mannie... so yes, he is more than done with vettys. Despite it all he really did have a great day - all that blue, a good low level blue. downright awesome! And I will pass on those scritches! :-D THX on the drainage. we wills ee what the scope shows,an if this is fixable. There is apart of me that just wants new - this house was built 52 years ago..... as so was the drainage system.... I hope so too on the insurance aspect. Paws crossed there too. :-D

Hi Barb - You sound like Mannie - LOL - two BP checks huh? They tried three times with Mannie - a no go on each. shesshhh! : he would have done better if they had just let me hold him, he was fairly relaxed then. It's OK though. we just try again in a few. I love you asking your vet about making a tiny cuff for our pets - keep trying barb - you could be famous! THX on the drainage guy - he'll send me the bid for the scope, and then see what that reveals... paws crossed i won't lose my arms and my legs.
Auntie barb? You gots that syndrome too??? I don't like them white coats.... they is scary people! Bow the vetty dude is cool. I likes him! not those coats though,.... ~~ Mannie, cardio patient

Hi Carla - THX, it has been a good day for him. Love these blues!!! Me too on teh BP - oh well. next time! And yes - he is willing to do what is needed for Mannie's care. I like the guy -explains things well. YAY!and me too on the labs! Should be tomorrow.

Re: 1/7 Mannie PMPS 125 - cardio results

Hi guys,

I guess it was too much to expect Mannie to sit still for two vetty appts. on successive days! And the smell of the gel is really off-putting, I'm sure. What a relief to get home, right Mannie? And to throw your mamabean some nice blue numbers just to show her how happy you are not to be still at the vetty bean's. Michelle, I hope that Mannie's C&S will come back soon. And I also hope that he doesn't have a UTI.

When Rusty had a urinalysis last spring his urine was "cloudy", but all of the values tested were normal. Perhaps "cloudy" doesn't mean anything. Or perhaps the color changes depending on the food (or, in Mannie's case, possibly on the meds he is taking). Anyway, you will know what's what when you get the results.

So hang in there while you wait. Have a good evening with your kitties and relax.

:YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Ella & Rusty

Hey Mannie, KTSS will get that awful smell off.
Your pal,
Rusty

Re: 1/7 Mannie PMPS 125, +1 180 - cardio results

180 @ +1 Still blue! :-D

Hi Ella - Yupp on the BP - he was more or less OK until the gel and the solution they use hit his foot. That was the last straw. Poor guy! THX on the UTI info - it very well could be that he doesn't: theory says that should be the case, as Clav usually clears them up for him. SO.... perhaps cloudy meant just that - only cloudy. My vet did mention that was a possibility, so... we really do need to wait until the results come in. I so hope that is tomorrow. If no UTI then the heart meds will be reevaluated, per the cardio dude, to see if that eliminates the lack of appy, or nausea, whatever is bothering him. Paws crossed! and thanks - we are hanging in there, and trying just to appreciate Mannie for who he is: Mannie. which is darn cool.

Thanks Rusty! I is really STINKY! ~~ Mannie

You didn't say, did he pee in the carrier this time too? or does he just do that when he knows you want to test it? ;)

Hey Mannie,

I hear you got skerred at the vetty bean today and they couldn't test you because of it. Next time you need to go, just think about your treehouse and having fun and that the quicker you get there, the quicker you can go home! It's what my bean tells me when we go to the vetty. But of course, I don't get skerred of nothing! If you want I can go with you and make sure you won't be skerred again.

Ok, I smell the fuds on the grill so let's get to eating!

Nice numbers despite the vetty visit! Moonie & Copper(GA) always had to be sedated when they saw the vet!
Now she is like a little angel there, but will stick her head under my arms, thinking if she cant see vet, maybe he cant see her
Hope Mannie feels well & has a calmer day tomorrow--You Too!!
Hope all will be well with him & maybe next time with him will be easier--
Much Love & Hugs from us!
