Well hell.

Got email from the vet, she'd doing some research today since she's out of the office on Tues. Nice of her to think of him on her day off. We're still waiting on that 100 U freebie. But I can't remember if it's PZI or Prozinc, not sure if it matters.

Lucian is back up to what he was at .50 after 6 cycles at fat .50. My brain doesn't understand why an increase doesn't help, but it's Lucian and he's not normal. Got to decide whether to go to .75 or .25 since he's showed he'll go up with an increase. It's so frustrating! Maybe I'll drop him to .25 for 6 cycles and see what happens. I hate experimenting on my cat, but he leaves little option.

I need to get more tests in, but I'm trying to stretch my strips, haven't gotten a check from Worker's Comp since 12/14 and just had enough to pay rent and buy cat food, so I'm broke until they get it together.

This year has not started out well for me or Lucian. And my son has pneumonia. Geez anything else?

but this is what we do... everyday. Trying to figure out dose and food and what the numbers mean and hidden causes....

I am sorry your son has pneumonia. That sucks.

Hang in there.

Re: 1/7 Lucian AMPS 403

Waiting to hear something from son after he leaves the doctor's office. He called me early and wanted to know the symptoms. Told me he felt like someone was standing on his chest with burning shoes.

Since I've been diagnosed with it 8 times, hospitalized with it 3 times, I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to pneumonia. :o

First time I was admitted, Dr at the ER said if I had waited 24 hrs, he'd be signing my death certificate instead of an admission slip.

I don't play around. Always get my flu shot, for the last 20 years, which has prevented me from getting pneumonia for many years and also got the pneumonia shot since they came out. Dr says now I don't need that one any more since I've had it several times before age 65.

The issue though, is once you've had pneumonia, like heat stroke, you are more apt to get it again. You have to take care of yourself. I've been screaming to my son to get the damned flu shot for years. When him and gf lived with me, I required it. I refuse to get sick because someone in my house brought it home to me. They never got sick when they lived with me, but were always sick 3-4 times a year with the flu, when they didn't. You'd really think that would sink in.

He's always saying, "I don't have time for that' OK, but you have time to miss several days work because you're sick? Not to mention being flippin miserable? Or the cost of medical since he has no insurance? Plus loss of work? This is going to cost him a fortune, because he wouldn't take 5 mins to run into Walgreens and get a $29 flu shot.

Will they never learn? :YMSIGH: No matter how old they are, your kids still have no sense.

Wah on PMPS! And yes, kids will never learn. ;-) I'm also reminded that I still need to get my flu shot. I was out of the office the day they did them on site at my work.

Get your flu shot girl!

If you normally get a site reaction, pre-medicate with Advil or something similar the day before and that morning, that evening and the next morning and it won't be near as sore. A nurse friend of mine told me that years ago, because my arm was very sore after the shot. I've done it ever since and it's not near as bad. Although I bruise badly, but that's due to other reasons. She said 24 hrs before and after the shot will do wonders for soreness at the site and it does. It helps if you have a tendency to get achy after the flu shot too. I little discomfort for a day sure beats having the flu in my book. ;-)

Dreading the PMPS......I may go ahead and reduce his does .25 tonight along with the R. When UP doesn't work, go DOWN. :o At this point, I'd try anything.

Got to admit, I'm surprised.

I expected him to be over 500, since he is almost always higher at PMPS and almost always 200+ points higher at PMPS than at +9 or +10.

So I held his dose, just for s&g. ;-)

I totally need to do it! Good to know about the Advil. I do always get a pretty sore arm afterwards. Glad Lucian's PMPS wasn't as bad as you were thinking it might go. I'm all about appreciating the little things. Hope your son starts feelin' better soon. Sounds so terrible.

yeah girl, first couple times I got a flu shot, I couldn't lift my arm for a couple days. Advil, or whatever you use, makes a world of difference.

Son is waiting for results from chest xray that took 30 mins to take. To get one, you have to take a deep breath and hold it. He couldn't do either. But as it stands, they gave him nothing! Sent him home to wait on results of the xray. Hope they do something tomorrow.

Oh well - you'll hate this. I NEVER GET A FLU SHOT!!! I tell people that I need the rest

Of course, I also never get the flu which means I don't get the rest unless I get strep.

Well y'all are gonna hate me too. No flu shot here either..lol

In my case because I can't deathly allergic to them I can't breathe after getting them so I just get to suffer if I get the flu. Although (knock wood) I haven't had it since I was 15, or since dinosaurs walked the Earth. lol

Actually I think it comes from working at a convenience store next to both a high school and a doctor's office for 8 years. So I was exposed to so much my body just threw in the towel. lol. Injure myself I'm great at but seldom do I get physically sick other than colds and allergy attacks.

With injections, it can help to massage the area to disperse the vaccine more widely. Then, instead on a small, acutely painful area, it is spread out into larger less achey area.

It is possible that some site reactions are allergic in nature. Keep an eye on these and have antihistamine (ex Benadrl) available.

Years ago they used the same preservative that they used in saline solution, that some people were allergic to. But been a long time for that. Luckily my allergies are few.

I started getting the flu shot because every other time I got the flu, I ended up with pneumonia. Nix the flu, nix the pneumonia. That worked for many years, then they came out with the pneumonia shot that you get every 5 years, so I did that too for 15 yrs and now my doc says I don't need it anymore. Unfortunately, when you have a lot of other medical issues, the flu can be deadly, not just miserable. There is nothing I hate worse than being sick. I feel bad all the time, add the flu to that, just shoot me.
