Good Morning LL! Muffin is very purry and lovey today. We had a nice cuddle session under the covers this morning, until Shnookie came demanding breffis. Then jumped up and tested while her ears were still warm :lol: Ambg 62, weight 10 lbs 12 oz, which is the same as yesterday. She's eating breffis now. I realized that yesterday she only ate about 1/2 can Wellness Chicken all day. I've been debating whether or not to get bloodwork done today at the vet. I probably will, if for no other reason than peace of mind.

Yesterday afternoon I was in my room watching TV and heard Muffin somewhere just meowing. She very rarely meows, and this was over and over, so I got up to investigate. She was sitting on the computer by the window. I looked outside, there was nothing there. She started rubbing up on me, and when I went to pet her she swatted at me several times. Attacked my hand and bit my wrist....VERY out of character behaviors for her. She did all of this with her hind quarters planted in the same spot. So I called her down off the computer...she was walking fine, went up and down the stairs fine and was back to normal after that. It did scare me a little, her acting so strangely, but she's been fine ever since...so again, probably nothing. BG remains good, so I don't suspect she has an infection of any kind.

She enjoys her new toys I bought her yesterday for her annifursary. One of them is a little bird that makes chirping noises and she showed no interest in that one all day, but when I went to bed last night, I heard a good chirping session going on :lol:

Good morning guys! I hope the vet visit goes well for you and if a blood test will bring a peace of mind, I say go for it! I wonder what was up with muffin yesterday ... but kitties are kitties and sometimes they just have to act crazy ... we have a mouse that makes a chirp and neither cat is interested in it, until we are all in bed quiet for the night. Then twix starts acting it like it came to life :lol: Have a great day guys!

Good luck at the vet today. Amazing AMBG too.

I wonder if Muffin is like Maverick. If he sees something outside and I go to investigate the meowing, he bites at me! Once there was a racoon on the deck and when I got to the door to investigate Maverick bit my leg! So I always grab a broom to investigate window/door meowing just in case lol.

Nice ambg! Good luck with the vet today, Anne! It never hurts to get a checkup if something feels off, I would do the BW just for peace of mind. Weight loss can be a sign of a lot of things, or it could be nothing but Muffin's latest strategy in her endeavors to wear you down so you will give in to her kibble addiction!! :lol: Nothing would surprise me with Ms Muffin!

Seriously, you have good instincts, trust them...if you think something is off, it probably is and catching it early is always a good thing.

So nice to hear from you, sorry you are worried about Muffin though. Please update us when you can.

Anne: great report but odd behavior. Maybe there had been a cat outside or something and you got a little displacement behavior? I've heard of those chirpy toys and everyone I know who has one said the cat ignores it until the beans are in bed and then it's a constant chirp chirp chirp :lol:

Prolly won't hurt to do the bloodwork....see what the vet says about it. Oh Muffin..eat more!! Have a great day!

Hi, Anne&Muffin... sorry about the weird behavior.. I guess we all get weird sometimes though.. :-D
Thinking of you both & wishing you a wonderful vet visit that calms any doubts..looking forward to the update too.
 
Back from the vet. Dr felt a slight slipping of her thyroid - very slight, he said, and suggested running a thyroid panel. So that's what we did. He's ordering a T4 and a free T4. T4 results should be in tomorrow, and free T4 on Saturday or Monday. He's not concerned with her weight loss so far, said her body condition is good, but if she continues to lose we should run a full panel. I asked how much more it was ok for her to lose before we get concerned and he said if she goes under 10 lbs, then we need to investigate further. She weighed 10 1/2 lbs on their scale, so it looks like mine weighs a little higher than theirs.

I mentioned her odd behavior yesterday, and he thinks she probably just saw something out the window.

I am glad you took her & will look forward to the thyroid results.. lets hope to figure this out soon!

I'm glad you guys did a T4/thyroid testing. At least you can rule that out.

Cats do wierd things when they are looking out windows ohmygod_smile

I like that ambg for the Muffin! I hope her behavior was just from seeing a squirrel outside.
