Ok so I Have to rant and get others opinions and see if I am out of line.
I told the vet yesterday on the confirmation phone call for Moo's follow up visit tonight that I would not be doing the blood glucose test that they want me to do there at the appt. The apt was included in the dental cost for the recheck and the blood glucose check would be extra. I told them I could not afford it and I'd bring my own meter/supplies and my spreadsheet to show them the past week.
The girl on the phone yesterday said that would be fine.
Everything went great at the checkup. I used my meter, showed them my numbers, etc.
Moo is doing well, looks good, shes very happy with his progress.
I went to leave, they said no charge... I left.
In my car I get a knock on the window, its the receptionist saying I owe for the BG test. I said no, i didnt have it, I brought my own. So she said ok and left.
30 mins later I get a phone call saying I still needed to pay for it. I explained to them I brought my own, and confirmed yesterday that I would not be doing it otherwise I would have cancelled the appt.
They said either way I have to pay for it because the doctor still had to "interpret" his numbers.
I said what does that mean? I can do that myself, hence the spreadhseet. The receptionist asked how I would nkow about an increase, etc and I said I know plenty about it and belong to a group.
She of course went off about the group and not being a doctor etc.
I said I am not paying $35 for the doctor to "look at" my spreadsheet. It's rediculous.
I told them to cancel my appt for next week at his 2 week follow up and that they could send me a bill and when I can I will pay it.
Now, I do have the funds to pay it, however, that's not the point. Why pay for that when I do it myself? To have her READ it?
I told them I was very upset that after spending over $1000 there, they were going to charge me for the vets "Time" to look at his numbers. And the fact that I am a former employee at the vets office....
Do you think I over reacted?
Do you think they were out of line?
I'm just so frustrated with this!
More so with the fact that I confirmed yesterday on the phone call I did not want it and they didnt even do anything today, nor mention that I would be charged for her to look at my spreadsheet!
Ugh ok rant over.
thanks.
