Yesterday was vetty day in MannieLand. Mannie survived it. It was a very stressful day for all of us. me cuz I worry too much about him anyways - he's my best bud, and for Mannie cuz he had to stay when I told him I didn't think he would have too.... (I owe him for that one...) but In true Mannie fashion he peed in his carrier on the way to the vetty, so no urine to collect. as much as it pained be to do so, I left him there for a couple of hours so they can get the sample. We really do need that to check on the UTI status..... BG's weren't too bad considering: yellow and blues with a splash of pink. He ate fairly well, as long I served something that interested him. So so reminiscent of the last go around with the last UTI. Pilling was horrid until I put it in some BF - that he loved... anyways - a decent day for Mannie, one for the books, yet again. We take each day as they come. Lubs ya big guy, yesterday, today, and tomorrow. cat_pet_icon

From yesterday condo: VETTY REPORT.... finally the nanner King, aka I will never ever surrender my bodily fluids to these white coats, surrendered enough pee that I could bring him home. There wasn't enough to do a U/A, but is enough to send off to the lab for a C&S, which is what we need anyways... Appearance of the urine was cloudy, which indicates, possibly, that the UTI is not cleared up, which would explain the BG's, and the appy and and and.... so... we wait on the results before we start an A/B. Both the vet and I want to know what AB will work this go around so we can avoid the Clav. Won't go there again with that. The rest of Mannie checked out OK. She checked him from stem to stern several times, found no indication of anything amiss. No apparent pain issues, all parts appear to be functioning normally. gum.skin coloration is good, internal parts all feel normal. We both agreed I will deal with the heart meds stuff with the cardiologist on monday. We both agree too that the pills are probably bothering Mannie - the taste etc which is turning him off on his fuds. so - new approach: I will try grounding them all up, mixing it with water and down the hatch via syringe, to be followed by a treat that I know he likes. as far as any nausea, I will talk with the cardio guy about that - see of we need to change meds. In the meantime pepcid will be added to the mix. lab results pending - probably monday, maybe Tuesday. We did CBC panel, fecal test, and C&S. She ruled out pancreatitis, a definite no on that. And I think that about covers it.... I hope....

All is well in MannieLand, more or less. :-D :-D He was elated to be home yesterday, curled up in his bed and slept. no doubt he got little of that while at the vetty. he was poked and prodded for alot of it, especially when they were tying to get urine from him.  He slept all afternoon, through the evening. We ahd a good pet and cuddle session this morning after his shot, where I just tried to talk to him abut all that is going on. He was relaxed, purred alot, and when done curled up for his morning nap. This morning we had a great test, feed (for amps at least, so far) and shoot and clean plate club (YES!!!!!!), purrs and lots of cuddles. Normalcy, sort of, in MannieLand.

Have a great day everyone. it will be errands day.... laundry day.... shopping day.... cleaning day.... and cold recovery day. Most of which I didn't get to yesterday while waiting on the vet to call. Funny how nothing seems to happen when you are waiting on a vetty.  I hope I can get out for a local hike too - we shall see. cold recovery comes first, so will see how I feel..., which so far today is much better :-D

MY FRIENDS!! I IS SORRY I BLEW DISNEYLAND YESTERDAY!! I couldn't help it - they kept me at the vetty!   It was so awful!!! That vetty lady kept poking me and prodding and touching and looking for I don't know what.    and then!!! they took this LONGGGGGGGGG needle and stuck it in me... something about my bodily fluids.... and!!! they got some too! The vetty lady told me bean that I was OK, for the most part. well DUH on that. I KNEWS that - why didn't they just ask me? I dunno.... so since we couldn't go yesterday let's go to Disneyland today! I am so there... You guys Ok with that? ~~ Mannie

Re: 1/6 Mannie AMPS 356

Morning Michelle, so sorry for all poor Mannie went thru yesterday with the pee incident. I hope when the results come in all is done, a good antibiotic will kick the UTI and Mannie will get back to recovery. That sure could be why his appy and bg's are off lately. Maggie takes a pepcid daily, and it really helps. So far the chicken greenie is working. I do get my finger in her mouth and so far still have my finger intact. Sending early vines for tomorrow's Cardio visit, too. How many pills is Mannie taking? I hope today you can squeeze in some down time.
Mannie, thanks for the 10 hour coffee and espresso, always the supreme, Auntie Ann

Awww....Mannie, that's terrible the way they stick that needle in your privates, but you sure were a trooper thru it all. We will make up for it today and have a blast at Disneyland, rides, good food and great company. ring catnip cheesecake for all and one special for you to make up for the trauma yesterday. See you at the curb, Mags

Re: 1/6 Mannie AMPS 356

Good morning, Michelle! ~O) ~O) ~O)

You deserve a restful, uneventful day today! Hope you find a pill method that works. Poor Mannie Manster. I love that you talk to him about what's going on; the other day I had one of those "you-scared-the-bleep-outta-me!!" discussions with Ripley when she gave me scary numbers, and then she head-butted my cheek. They listen. cat_pet_icon

~Josie

PS: Ripley has her mouse ears on and is ready for DLand!

Re: 1/6 Mannie AMPS 356, +2 260

I hope you get the lab results back quickly. Hopefully it is just a UTI and treatment will get rid of it quickly. Good luck finding a way to get Mannie to take his meds and still eat his fuds. I hope you are feeling better and can get a walk in today.

Re: 1/6 Mannie AMPS 356, +2 260

260 @ +2. and oh wow on that - quite the drop this morning. It is nice to see yellow, but slow up the bus Mannie, no need to rush. :-D

Morning Ann ~O) ~O) ~O) Many thanks on Mannie. Quite the stressful day for him, and I am elated that the numbers weren't worse than they are. I hpe so too - hard to wait on the labs, but hopefully they will be quick n getting that all back to the vet. Paws crossed. I am sure Mannie wants to feel better too. and yes - it (the UTI) would explain why he has been out of sorts. I will have to add the pepcid. Today's goal: figure out just what additionals I want and how to best give them to him. There are 2 cardio pills, then the pepcid, a probiotic and the cranberry powder, with a possible addition on a AB after the lab results.
Auntie Ann! they are supreme? WOO HOO,and so totally awesome!! ~~ Mannie, kitteh barista

Morning Carla ~O) ~O) ~O) Me too on the labs - I hope by tomorrow afternoon. THX on teh ongoing pill saga - the BF one is working so far, hope it stays that way! :-D And yes, I am feeling better - a little ways yo go, but much better than last week. Me too on the walk/hike. Hope I can.

Morning Josie ~O) ~O) ~O) me too on the restful day - hope so, that is the plan, after the few errands that I must do - kitty fuds need to be bought!  I think so too on those talks - they seem to help Mannie too.

Josie - awesome - you is coming!! I will picks you up! ~ Mannie

Maggie - I know... stoopid vetty and that stoopid needle! i didn't like it much. but it is over now - YAY! and off to Disneyland we go. WOO HOO! OOOOOOO! catnip cheese cake - primo!! and I gets one just for me????? thanks Maggie. See you at the curb :-D ~~ Mannie

Re: 1/6 Mannie AMPS 356, +2 260

Nice and easy, Mannie, the grotto isn't going anywhere and neither is the lagoon. Paws crossed for all the vetty reports. (((Michelle)))

Re: 1/6 Mannie AMPS 356, +2 260

Hey Mannie,

My bean sez thank you for her tea this morning. She LUVS vanilla almond and you make it primo! She swears!

But Mannie, geez - you still stinky! Peeeeuuuuuwwwww you still stinky smelling and I got a very good nose! :o Before you get on the bus and pick us up you need to take another bath. If you come here first, I'll give you my special catnip soap and my bean will be happy to bathe you in the shower. She is good at doing that! She won't stick anything in you and it won't hurt. I promise. And after you can go under the special kitty blow dryer. It's warm and yummy, honest.

Oh and you need to take your meds, it is the only way to get the nasties out of you and make sure your bean doesn't leave you at the vetty place again!

Then we can go play today. But I still won't go on the rides. I want all my paws firmly planted on the ground.

Ok, I've got my wagon loaded up and ready for pick up. Let's go!

Signed, Maui the Magnificent

Re: 1/6 Mannie AMPS 356, +2 260

Hi Michelle. I'm glad the bf works for Mannie with the pills. They must be small? I can't even hide the quarter of a Pepcid in bf with Checks. I had to use reg. pill pockets. He hated the low carb duck kind. I need to ask Ann about the chicken.

I hope both you and Mannie are feeling well today  . Don't forget to do something nice for yourself, after those dreary chores. :-D

Re: 1/6 Mannie AMPS 356, +2 260, +4 137

137 @ +4. WOO HOO! And how nice is that? we are blue. :-D :-D

Morning Liz ~O) ~O) ~O) And so I told him - nice and slow... he seems to have missed the slow part... Well, hope he will hop on that board, have a good surf. it is nice to see him blue once again. Sure has been a while. Paws crossed that he can stay here a while. THX too on the vetty reports.

Hi Lisa ~O) ~O) ~O) many thanks! I hope so too.

Morning Barb ~O) ~O) ~O) Yupp, for now the BF works. The BP pills are very small, and crush easily, so not to difficult to mix in. The Plavix is a little bigger, not as easy to hide, but he didn't seem to mind it alt night. We will see how tonight goes... Mannie used to like the pill pockets - not any more. He liked the salmon ones then too. We are felling better today, Mannie too, so far. If the weather holds I will head on out for a short easy hike today - just to get out for a while.

Maui! WOOT!! I is so glad that your bean likes the tea today. almond is so good!!! SWEET! Your bean will give me shower??? Awesome! I so wanna try that special kitty dryer. then I can how my bean. I know on the meds.... I was good today - I ate them all! :-D I so don't wanna be left there again,. That was no funs! OK on the rides.... you can watch us then, make sure we stay safe and stuff. On my way to pick you up! ~~ Mannie

I'm glad there's a good vet report for Mannie yesterday. You were so good to catch "he's just off" and to your vet. I hope your results come quickly and you get all the correct meds to make kitteh barista just perfect.
I'm sure when you know that he feels better, you'll feel lots better also. I hope you got your errands done and felt well enough for a nice walk.

Morning Michelle and Mannie! Woo hoo for blue, goooooo Mannie, maybe a dip into the lagoon? Looks like he is getting over his day yesterday! Hope you can get this med thing figured out and paws crossed on the urine results. Have fun getting caught up today and feel better! This cold is a nasty one huh? So sick of it actually just want it to go away! I am heading to the gym no matter what today! Hope you get a hike in! Happy Sunday!

Re: 1/6 Mannie AMPS 356, +2 260, +4 137

Woo hoo, nice sliding Mr. Mannie, way to go  sounds like you had a pretty good vetty visit, even if you did have to stay a little while. I hope you can get that UTI cleared up, and that all the other tests come back with normal results.

Hope you are having a great day, Michelle.

WOOT! still blue... hop on that board Mannie!

Morning Mary ~O) ~O) ~O) THX on the vetty stuff. We hope for god results, though it for sure looks like we are still dealing with the UTI. Bummer on that, but it would explain the rotten numbers of late and his simply not feeling good. And you are right - we feel good when our kitties feel good. THX - I am about to head on out for a short walk. rains are due soon, and would like to do this so I don't get soaked.

Morning Michelle ~O) ~O) ~O) Yes, it sure does look like he is getting over his day yesterday, what a relief on that! Yupp, me too on the meds thing. such a hassle.... well, we will figure it all out. Oh yeah - so agreed on this cold stuff. Been a little over a week for me, and I am tired of it. Glad too that I do feel better today. I hear so - hitting the trails today no matter what. :-D

Morning Kathie ~O) ~O) ~O) Yupp, he did ok at the vetty - I was impressed. He came home no worse for wear, didn't seem to upset about being there. He was glad to be home, back to the nanners. :lol:THX too on the labs - paws crossed on all of that.

Oliver! YUPP!!! THE MOUSE HOUSE! I so wonder if we will see Mickey..... :-D I lubs the eating and riding all day. It would be cool too - to stay for the fireworks. YAHOO! Let's do it! See ya soon.~~ Mannie

Yay for the return of the BMG! Glad you are feeling better finally, and hope your weather allows you to get your hike in. Muffin is stoked about Disneyland, and waiting by the window!

Oh...I'd also ask the vet about baytril if the or ax isn't an option. Baytril is good for urinary tract conditions. Just have to be careful with the dosing.

Actually the Orbax is a form of Baytril, here's a link to the MarVista description of it. And here is a link to the Orbax package insert.
From the insert:
INDICATIONS:ORBAX® Oral Suspension is indicated for the treatment of skin infections (wounds and abscesses) in cats caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pasteurella multocida.

And a link to their promo page.

~~Orbifloxacin is bound to a patented taste-masking agent so it passes taste buds undetected, then is released in the low pH environment of the stomach. Cats and dogs taste the malt flavor, not the antibiotic.
~~In a clinical trial with ill cats, ORBAX®Oral Suspension was readily accepted by 95% of cats, while only 54% of cats readily accepted Synulox® (European tradename of Clavamox® Drops).1

It is labeled for UTI in dogs, but the clinical studies apparently haven't been done to allow that labeling for cats. Ask for the Oral Suspension if you get it, it is malt flavored and Tess didn't mind it much. Well, at least no more than having anything squirted in her mouth that is! And they can't as easily spit out the liquid!  They probably don't have it in stock, our vet had ordered it in as an alternative for Tess since she had so much trouble w/ Clavamox.

WOOT!!!!!!!! BMG featured on Main Street! -- Tess

Re: 1/6 Mannie AMPS 356, +2 260, +4.7 128, +6.2 109, +8 119

Yeah for the BMG! The grotto is hopping today with lots of kitties. Sounds like Mannie is recovering and getting lots of loving today to make up for vetty yesterday. I guess we better not let him know what's happening tomorrow. It's a great day for catching up on chores - inside. It is yucky outside today. Here's hoping the rest will knock that cold away.

Mousies? Did you say we are going to the land of mousies today. I'm so in!! ~ Neko

Re: 1/6 Mannie PMPS 208

208 @ PMPS. What a glorius day for Mannie. Such a nice blue surf, and a decent pmps. I look forward to this evening, see what he can crank out. Appy was good tonight too, a blessing! His plavix med went in the BF again, after he ate. So far, this is working. YAY! :-D :-D

Hi Anne - Awesome huh!! It was nice to be able to type BMG today, and post a BMG photo. it seems like ages since I have been able too. And yes - rains held off ebough that I was able to hike local today. so so glad to be out in it. YAY! Mannie says the DLand was a huge hit and that Muffin evolved all the rides.

Hi Angela - THX! and he did - a nice low level blue surf. YAHOO!

Hi Ann - yupp! It was nice to be able to day Blue Mannie Group today. YAY! I love that photo - it kinda fits, doesn't it! THANKS for all the Info. My vet had told me that Orbax is a form of Baytril - we talked about that with the last UTI he had. Many thanks for all the links too. How awesome that they can't taste it! YAY!!!!!!! and I really like that 95% acceptance rate. I will ask for oral suspension. I am so tired of trying to pill him, and I think one more pill would send both of us over the edge.  I'm not sure that my vet would have it in stock either.... somehow I remember her saying that they didn't.

Hi Wendy - YAY for the BMG - it is so great to see so many kitties in the grotto today. WOO HOO! Mannie is dong well today - recovery for sure, been alot of sleeping, and I don't blame him one bit! and right you are - I haven't mentioned tomorrow, and won't until an hour or so before we go. :? That should be enough time for him to get used the idea, put his game face on, and be ready to boogie.  and thx - rested some today, did get out a little bit for a short hike in between rains. it was an easy one, sure felt good to be back at it. Rest for the rest of the day - cold is getting much better... now if i could just get rid of this darn cough!

Neko - that is an affirmative! the land of mousies - lots of mousies! and we are staying late, for the fireworks!! WOO HOO, and Cool huh! ~~ Mannie

Tess - awesome huh! We is playing MAIN STREET! How cool is that!!~~ Mannie

That's the Mannie famous +2 food spike! Come down Mannie, you looked so handsome surfing the blue & green!

Re: 1/6 Mannie PMPS 208, +2 278

What a nice day for Mannie. I'm sure he'll clear that usual fuds spike in no time, right Mannie! It sounds like he has recovered from the looooong day he had yesterday. I sympathize with both of you...vetty stress is the worst....

Have a great evening over there!!

Re: 1/6 Mannie PMPS 208, +2 278

Hi guys,

Sorry to be so late!! But so happy to hear how well Mannie did today. BLUE MANNIE GROUP in action again. YAY!! Wishing you a good vetty appt. tomorrow with the cardio vet. Will be thinking of you. What time do you go?

Lots of good-vetty-appointment vines for Mannie tonight,

Hi Helen - that it was! and this time he decided to stay there. ;-) I hope he will come down tonight too, still very well could. :-D

Hi Amy - It was a awesome day for him - so so nice to see blues again. Yupp, I think he has - recovered rather well. I thought fir sure it would send him to the outer limits but it really didn't. That was nice to see.

Hi Ella - no worries on eh hour... I was doing great here until the board went down, and then I never made it back until now... It was great to have the BLUE MANNIE GROUP in action again - YAY!!!! THX on the cardio stuff. The main purpose is a BP check, but I do want to talk to him too about events with Mannie over the past few weeks. I am really curious as to his take on all of this. Appt is at 9:30, and thx for the vines for Mannie. I am feeling better too, got the list done for the most part, and made it out for a short local hike today. My cough still lingers, but at least I feel human again.
