1/6 Eddie AMPS = 350, PMPS = 474 :(, +2 = 307, +4 = 201

The last couple days Eddie had been consistently in the pinks for both pre-shots, then moving for a few hours into the blues and greens at Nadair. Today no one was home to check mid-cycle, but his PMPS was so high! His PMPS was over an hour late, however, due to the beginner's mistake of not having enough strips on hand. Had to run to Wal-Mart after work only to discover that the first store was completely out of our strips. Had to drive another 1/2 hour to a different store to get strips. Despite the high numbers he was happy and bouncy when we got home, and even raced down the hallway and up to the top of the stand. Bummer.

An hour late can mean a big difference - once the insulin is gone, the numbers can really jump. And I would bet he had a green or blue midcycle. What would you think about reducing a smidge in the am to see if we can smooth out his curve? Maybe 1.5 or 1.8 in the am?

I'm interested in doing that. I've been studying other ProZinc kitty curves, and I can't tell if Eddie's going from 300's to ~100's at peak represents a bounce each cycle, or whether the insulin is not lasting long enough for him. Our vet and tech are currently recommending staying with 2, but it's hard to see what he's doing if we can't test during the day. I don't think it can really hurt to try it for a day and see what happens.

Hmmm. He's dropped A LOT over the first four hours. Eddie generally hits nadair at approximately +7, so I wonder where he will be going. Hopefully he will slow down a bit.

He has really been pretty steady in numbers. (sometimes the numbers can confuse. You think he was green there and a lot lower, but really it was only 6 points - just a different color. )

I do like his amps better this am. I wonder if it was because his numbers were a little higher last night and he didn't bounce, or if he is a cat that takes a couple cycles to settle in to a dose.

These early days are frustrating as you are trying to make sense of the numbers. Sometimes if you just tell yourself it is data gathering and you will see a pattern after awhile, it is easier not to worry about a particular number. Instead think of the numbers in trends or patterns.
