Hi,
the colour of today is black! :(
I know, NDW... But why are there yellows before blacks?
I think that I'm doing something wrong, maybe feeding? I give her two meals, one before AMPS and one before PMPS. A meal consists in 1/2 can of Purina DM and 1/2 can of Almo Nature chicken and pupkin. Generally I give Almo Nature at +1, but in these last days I gave it occasionally at +4. Today I gave it at +4 AM.
Cleo is under weight, for this reason I give her so much food.
I read the thread Canned cat food for EUROPEANS and INTERNATIONAL buyers (I live in Italy), but there are so many brands and products that is very difficult to choose. From what I read, I thought this can be a good product: http://www.zooplus.it/shop/gatti/cibo_gatti_scatolette/granatapet, but I'd like to know from you if I'm right or if you suggest something else.

well my Italian is pretty rusty. But the first ingredient is cereal / grain. So I'm going to say that's probably not a good food for a diabetic.
You want to read the ingredients and see proteins listed as the first ingredients..... chicken... turkey... fish.... but not any grains. carrots are ok... maybe a tiny bit of peas..... but not potatoes or rice.

as for the numbers.... from your testing..... I think Cleo 's body isn't used to the lower numbers and you are seeing reds when you get into low yellows and blue numbers. So Imho ( in my humble opinion) you might be getting a quick little drop into a green which makes Cleo bounce to black.
It is more complicated with steroids in the mix.
But I would say anytime you see low yellows.... get a couple more tests..... and see if she drops even more in the couple of hours afterwards.

Sorry, I sent you an italian link. If you want, could you please take a look at this link (in english)?
This brand says "Granatapet foods are free from cereals, contain a lot of meat and fish, precious salmon oil, taurine and pomegranate seeds rich in potassium, vitamin C, calcium and iron. Thanks to the making cold and steaming remain unchanged all the nutrients, vitamins and essential fatty acids".

How long will it take to Cleo to get used to low values? Every time I see yellow I'm so happy, then it becomes black and I become so sad. I really would like to make things in the right way. I would give her the best food and grant her the best possible life. She is my first cat, my first pet, I love her as you all do with your pets, but I'd never thought I could depend in this way from a cat.
Thank you all you, because you give me a great help and so much encouragement. I need to learn a lot of things from you, so sorry if I make too many questions in my really bad english.

What size are the cans? Could you spread the meals out or is it a conflict? Does she eat all of it?

It's interesting to watch the eating change as the numbers drop. When Chianti is high he is ravenous and when he is really low near nadir he is starving again. But then at a good number he chills out and it's clear his body is using the food the way it should. But boy does it freak me out.

Purina DM cans are 7 oz (195 grams) and Almo Nature 2.5 oz (70 grams). She eats all, if I give her a ton of food, she eats everything at once. She has always been voracious, so it is difficult to understand how much it depends from diabetes. I can spread the meals out, but not too much, because when she finishes a meal, she looks for other food. She is always so hungry....

As long as Delia is in higher numbers, she will be hungry all the time. It's a good idea to try spreading out the food a bit. Maybe something like 1/2 at shot time then the same at +2 or +3? The second thing that can cause bouncing (besides low numbers) is a fast drop. If you give them some food right as the insulin is onsetting, you can balance that out a bit. It's also easier on a healing pancreas to spread out the food and not overwhelm it with all the food at once.

Do you have an autofeeder? My Neko was always looking for food, but once I put the autofeeder down on the floor, she just waits by it for food and doesn't bother me. It also is an easier way to spread out the food without you having to be there.

If you are wondering about particular types of food in Europe, you might want to post a question on the Health forum. There are more Europeans who check there than this forum. The ingredients look good and I have heard of people feeding that brand.
