Was just pondering when your posts came
He's really only about 35 minute away from +6
I guess the timing kind of creeps up between all the testing and getting food ready (I always heat up the water before I put it in his food)
I certainly could give him more of that 9% or a half raw, half 9%
What do you think?

Surfing. Well, I'd like to see him surfing a bit higher. @Gill & George, think he needs a snack?
I'm not sure I could go to bed with that 58, that's just me, I'd want to get past the +6 mark before I went to bed.

I would probably give a teaspoon of regular LC at this point and check in an hour, but if I needed to sleep, then I would give some of that 9%, possibly a couple of teaspoons at least and hit the sack, though I probably wouldn't sleep.

Oh, I definitely wasn't planning to go to bed with those numbers, no way! Just pondering the carb percent to give him and next test interval
I think raw with maybe just a titch of the 9% for flavor is a good idea and another test in an hour

It's OK to err on the side of caution and give him some higher carb food than you would usually do, it will keep him safe if running a little higher than you might choose if it were in the middle of the day and able to monitor. I did that on occasions when I had to go out and when his numbers/cycles were making me nervous, sure sometimes I over did it and the following PS was higher than anticipated, but they soon recover. He is getting past the point of the peak action of the insulin.
I agree. I never left them under 70, but I'm a major worry wart.
Me too.

sounds like a plan, you can then see how he responds and will be better prepared next time.

I think an hour would be fine, maybe you can catch a catnap on the sofa while you wait.

Pretty good. I'd feel 100% if there had been no food given within the hour.
I know it wasn't a lot and it was LC
It's 4:00am here and I'm not sure if I am thinking very clearly, but I lean toward the side of caution and worry

I think you would be ok to head to bed now, he seems to have gotten past his nadir. You could give him a LC snack as you head to bed for good measure, if he is still hungry.

I don't think the little bit of LC you gave him would have had much of an impact on his BG, correct me if I am wrong, but I don't remember him being very carb sensitive. The later it is in the cycle the less likely he is to make a sudden dive, think of the insulin onsetting at +2ish(he looked to have onsetted by +2 today) and reaching it's peak action around +6ish, eventually petering out by next ps.

Duration and onset can vary a little, but I think he's likely on his way up.

An alternative strategy if going to bed worries you just with hold food now, and check him in 30 min to see if he is still heading up or keeping level, then if he is up or level you can sleep more easily. That way you split the difference and don't have to stay up till 5am, remember you need to get some resst too if you are going to look after Uncle:bighug::bighug:

I think you are right about that. Also, yes his onset is definitely at +2 and typical nadir anywhere usually right around +6

Yes, I'll do that even though my rational mind says it's not necessary.
