184 seems strangely low to me, considering he was in the 400's last night. But I won't argue with a nice, low number.

Chatty, bright eyed and eating this morning. He was pretty quite during the night, I got up once to use the bathroom around 4am and he didn't get out of his bed to follow me like usual. He looked pretty sleepy though. I gave him a bonito flake and went back to bed. Looks much better this morning. :)

Re: 1/5 Todd AMPS 184

appointment for tomorrow at 8:30am for the urine test and I'm gonna see if they'll do an in house kidney value test. I'm curious...

I wonder how often we should check the kidney values, once, twice a month or once every other month. I want to keep up on it, but I don't want to over do it and stress him out.

Re: 1/5 Todd AMPS 184

i try to get Rocket's kidney values every 3-4 months....
under his old SS there are two tabs...take a look at the lab report and you will see what i mean...if you build a sheet like that you will see the trend of Todd's kidney values...

just a thought!
good luck

nice # so yeah you can't complain considering he was high in the 400s

466 tonight due to eating quite a lot today.

My question is.. does anyone have a suggestion on how I can help Todd gain some weight? Keep in mind he has kidney disease as well as the diabetes. Is it even possible for him to gain weight/muscle back at this point? He's picky about canned food, so he mostly eats k/d and I sometimes give him low sodium tuna in water (as in a smaller than my thumbnail amount). I know it is common for CRF cats to drop weight and muscle, but I wonder if there is some way to help them gain some of that back?.. He is 9.0lbs, at his GOOD weight he was 14lbs. That was just back in July last year.

Also, if you were going to (or already do) feed Fancy Feast canned to your cat with CRF and diabetes, which one would you use? I know there is a list, but I just don't know which one to try, if any.. and do I need any kind of binders or something for it? If so, what and where?

Thanks!

Hi,
Good luck this morning at the Vet. I thought I'd bump you up. I'm not sure which FF would be best for Todd since he has both CRF and diabetes. Hopefully someone with experience will be along to help. Keep us posted on Todd's Vet visit.

I would post your question about canned food for CRF kitties over on Health. I think the question is getting buried here and I don't know how many people have CRF kitties -- Claudia/Rocket, WCF/Meowzi, Carolyn/Latte (the latter two don't always post regularly) and a few others. Having a subject line that reflects your question on Health will get you quicker answers.

Have you checked Tonya's website?
