Yesterday was another Slide day, after a rather nasty amps. Not as bad as the day before, but still up there... It was a decent recovery almost blue, but back up he went for PMPS, and the PM cycle. I decided yesterday to make a vetty appt for him, and will take him in this morning. We will do BW, urinalysis (to confirm UTI status, as it has been 3 weeks since meds were done), check his BP, etc... I just can't quite put my finger on it, but something is off with Mannie, and I would really like to nip this in the bud if we can. He has just not been Mannie since all the heart stuff started. I dunno... appy issues, the get up and go is sometimes gone, the BG's are awful. alot of stuff... I suspect that perhaps the heart meds are making him queezy, enough to affect the appetite. It is a side effect of plavix: nausea. I will also ask for the pancreatitis test too. Not that I suspect that, but just to rule it out. so.... a workup for Mannie. He will not be pleased.... duh.....   I still have his appt on monday with his cardiologist, and will keep that. I feel that I need to touch base with him too. I hate medicating a cat without follow up on how all of this is affecting him. ;-) It will be OK Mannie... it will. Just trying to keep you happy as well as healthy. Lubs ya big guy! cat_pet_icon

All is well in MannieLand. :-D :-D Nicholas spent alot of time checking on Mannie yesterday. He'd cruise by his bed, squeeze in the hidey place and I could hear him talking: "Man-NIE sleepy..." Mannie would get a pet, and out would come DGS, a smile on his face. it was cute - he'd taken care of his boy. Mannie spent most of the day sleeping. He ventured out now and then to check on the sun status, most of which met with this approval. It was really dreary here in the morning, but we did get a few sun breaks mid-afternoon. It was nice to see him out and sunning in those rays. That even got a few purrs. It was nice when I went to spend some one on one time with Mannie that he's almost immediately start to purr. Maybe he really does understand that we are all trying to help him feel better, it was nice to have the pets met with purrs. I love that stuff. :-D This morning we had a great test, feed and shoot and clean plate club (with alot of encouragement), purrs and lots of cuddles. Normalcy in MannieLand.

Have a great day everyone. it will be vetty day in MannieLand, and errands day.... laundry day.... shopping day.... cleaning day.... and cold recovery day. hmmmmmm - sounds way too busy!  I hope I can get out for a local hike too - we shall see. cold recovery comes first, so will see how I feel... :-D

Hey everybody! What's up???? I gots to go to the vetty today, I don't wanna but will go to keep my bean happy. She worries too much ya know? I keeps telling her I is fines, but she is skeptical. BEANS! What will we do with them, huh? Dunes was funs yesterday - I LUBES the dunes,... I was thinking about today.... how about DisneyLand? We haven't been in ages. It would be so funs! What do you guys think? You in? Let me know - I am ready for anything!! ~~ Mannie

And completely OT: Here are some photos from DGS's and my adventures yesterday: Swimming!. He was still fighting his cold, so we didn't do the marathon session that he normally asks to do. He asked to go home after about an hour, 15 minutes. it was nice to see him tell me that he was tired, and had done all he could. Funny - he grabbed his towel and waited while i gathered our stuff. It was a fun day for him, despite his lingering cough. Tired little man! he slept three hours when he got home. I've included the FaceBook links for anyone that wants to see all the photos, and the videos: Swimming

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211 - vet appt

Good luck @ the vet
I know how hard it is with multiple meds.... you end up chasing side effects etc. until sometimes you
don't know WTH is going on :? @-)

Have a great day!

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211 - vet appt

I love the way Nicholas and Mannie interact. My guys are terrified of little kids -- we Gabby wants no part of them and I don't know if Gizmo has ever seen a child.

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211 - vet appt

Good Morning, Michelle & Mannie,

We will be thinking good thoughts for the vetty visit today. I hope that Mannie's problems are just a reaction to the meds, or maybe the lingering giardia recuperation (don't forget that it took Edward more than a year to get over all of the aftereffects of giardia). Anyway, it's good that you are going to have the tests, etc. And it is also good that the cardio follow-up will be next week. You do need to talk to that vet about side effects.

Mannie barista, I really need that 10-hour energy coffee this morning. I'm tired from our adventure yesterday and today we have the opera! (works the brain if not the muscles!).

Michelle, get some rest today and tomorrow so you can get rid of that lingering cold. OK?

Check back with you this evening, when we get home from the opera,

Ella & Rusty

Hey Mannie, my pal. I'll be over with the KTSS later to get the vetty smell off of you. After DisneyLand we can chillax in the treehouse. See ya later,
Rusty

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211 - vet appt

Morning Bruce ~O) ~O) ~O) and thanks for the visit! oh yes on the sdue effects - hat is what this feels like... well, will see what they say today. paws crossed it is a simple fix.

Morning Sienne ~O) ~O) ~O) I know - we got lucky in that regard: with Mannie and DGS. He really does like the kid, as long as he isn't chasing him.  Now Elsa is like Gabby and Gizmo: terrified says it well.

Morning Ella ~O) ~O) ~O) Many thanks on the vetty - I hope we can at least come home with some answers. :-D I too hope that this is just meds related, paws crossed there. yes - I agree on the Giardia and the lingering effects of that - I think that too is compounding the problem with Mannie's appy and what foods he finds appealing. Agreed on the cardio visit - one huge reason why I will keep that appt. We may need to try another med. THX on the cold stuff - I actually feel almost normal this morning. YAY!
Auntie Ella!!! YOU GOTS IT! The 10 hour energy is really good my bean loves them: jet fuel she says.... :-D It will fix your tired and power up the brain for the opera! Coming right up: 10 hour energy. I will bring one for Uncle Edward too! ~~ Mannie, kitteh barista

Rusty - DUDE! COOL! THX on the KTSS - I so don't wanna smell at DisneyLand. That would be mega uncool, ya know? This will be funs! Disneyland and then a treehouse chillaxin'! See ya in a few ~~ Mannie

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211 - vet appt

Morning Michelle and sending mega Vetty vines for Mannie. So glad you were able to get an appt. It's that gut feeling telling you to get him in when we notice something is off with them. We will be waiting for updates. I sure hope it is just the meds affecting his appy and nothing serious. DGS looks so cute when he's napping. I hope the weekend he will rest and feel better. it's so hard to make little kids rest, as bad as for us, too.
Mannie, mega thanks for the 10 hour coffee and oh boy will I love the choco mint lattes! Auntie Ann
Hey Mannie, I'll hitch hike a ride with Rusty on the KTSS and bring you some chicken soup and catnip cheesecake, too. The dunes and Disneyland later sound great. See ya soon, Mags

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211 - vet appt

Good morning Michelle and Mannie

Good luck at the vetty office today! I hope you can get some answers, and will be able to decide where to go from here. Paws crossed here for good news.

I hope that you can kick that cold, sounds like you have a really busy day ahead. Love the stories of your DGS interacting with Mannie. So cute.

Mannie, your coffee specials sound wonderful buddy... Today, I could really use the 10 hour energy. Have a good vetty visit today. It's good that you will go and humor your beans, it will make you both feel better.

Have a wonderful day. Hugs,
Kathie

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232 - vet appt

Hope today's vet visit targets what's going on with Mannie and he's back to his old Mannie self soon. So difficult when you just know they seem "off" but there's way too many variables to figure out what exactly it is! Sending healing thoughts.

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232 - vet appt

Morning Ann ~O) ~O) ~O) THX on the vetty vines. I hope it will be good, and the little bugger had better give them urine! I so need to know if this UTI is indeed over....  I too hope that all this is just meds related. He did eat well this morning though - YAY! THX on DGS and the rest and the feeling better. He can sleep in over the weekend, that will help him alot.
Auntie Ann! YOU GOTS IT! 10 hour energy and choco min latte coming up! see me? I am waving at the corner!~ Mannie, kitteh barista

Morning Kathie ~O) ~O) ~O) THX on the vetty. I am hopeful - need to run the tests anywyas - he is due. so we cover our baseline etc. I hope he is a good kitty, saves his pee for them.  THX on the pics and the stories - they are quite the pair. :-D
Auntie Kathie - you gots it - my bean loves the 10 hour energy - it is mega primo and she say it really works. COOL! hey.... thx on the vetty visit. I will try and be good. I hates it there... but will go for my bean. My bean says the same thing - that I will feel better, Hope so! ~~ Mannie, kitteh barista

Morning Alanna ~O) ~O) ~O) THX!, and I hope so too! And so greed on the way too many variables. It can drive one nuts trying to second guess what is going on with them. Best let the labs give us a clue. and a vet's opinion. :-D THX for the healing thoughts. :-D

Maggie - oh cool! Rusty will picks you up - AWESOME! very cool on the chicken soup and catnip cheesecake - that'll fix anything! YUMMMMMMMMMM! See ya!~~ Mannie

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232 - vet appt

Sending good vetty vines for Mannie today. That really is sweet how well he and DGS get along. Muffin hates my DGD's - she hisses if she even sees them. Well, the younger one, anyway. If Muffin's cuddled on my lap she'll usually let the older one pet her for a second, but then she's outta there. Kibby ducks under the bed when he hears them coming. Shnookie's pretty good with them, if he's in the mood. Cleetus will let them pick him up and carry him around and cuddle him, but you can tell he's not happy about it.

I hope Mannie's labs come back clean, and it's nothing but side effects from the drug - and that that can be changed. And I'm positive he understands you're just trying to help. I know mine always do. Why else would they come so willingly and put up with all that we have to do to them? And then give us loves and cuddles and purrs afterward?

Mannie - Disneyland today? That sounds awesome! I will be with the KTSS to help get that vetty smell off you. See ya soon! Lubs, Muffin

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232 - vet appt

Morning Michelle and Mannie!!! Sending good vetty vines hope the appt goes well and you can figure out if there is anything wrong or just ease your mind. It could just be the meds, it does the same to people too. Hope Mannie doesn't get too stressed out! My cold is still lingering hope you are feeling better. It seems everyone has it. Have a great catch up day and will be thinking of you guys @ the vet. Hugs. Happy CAturday!

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232 - vet appt

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232 - vet appt

Good morning!

Aw, feel better, Mannie. And because it's a vet-day, we hope you get extra lubs and cuddles and treats!

~Josie and Ripley

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232 - vet appt

I hope everything goes well at the vet today for Mannie. Hopefully it is just the side effects from the medicine. At least now you will know for sure. I hope you get over your cold completely soon. I'm glad you're feeling better today.

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232 - vet appt

Good luck at the vet today, I hope it is just a side effect of the heart meds. Not cool to se mannie not a member of the CPC. On getting Mannie to take them too! Just remember these steps:
How to give a cat a pill:

  • 1--Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.
2--Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.
3--Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.
4--Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm, holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.
5--Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse from garden.
6--Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.
7--Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.
8--Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil, and blow down drinking straw.
9--Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink 1 beer to take taste away. Apply Band-Aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.
10--Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard, and close door onto neck, to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.
11--Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Drink beer. Fetch bottle of Scotch. Pour shot, drink. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw T-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.
12--Call fire department to retrieve the damn cat from tree across the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil-wrap.
13--Tie the little @!!@#@#$%'s front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy-duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of steak filet. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash pill down.
14--Consume remainder of Scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and remove pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.
15--Arrange for SPCA to collect mutant cat from hell and call local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

How to give a dog a pill:
  • Wrap it in cheese.

On the serious side I don't think the probiotic should be a problem w/ the appy. I tasted it and couldn't detect any flavor, of course I'm not a cat. Also be careful if you have to resort to a piller. Always chase w/ water or there is one that actually gives a squirt of water, but not enough have an extra syringe of water handy. Dr Lisa has a good article.

Ask your vet about the cranberry supplement to prevent UTIs, too. I've ordered those treats and will see how Tess likes them. Sometimes I think her meals are half supplements!

Mannie, Vetty!!???? We will be there when you gets home, KTSS will have you ready for Disneyland in no time! I wants to go on the Parachute Drop, they has one don't they? -- Tess

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232 - vet appt

Hey Mannie,

You're going to the vettybean! You are going to SMELL! Ick! My bean sez that we need to visit the dentistbean just for a checkup. Of course Buster hardly has any teefies left for the dentist to look at. Oooh, I hope she doesn't want anymore of mine.

I know just the thing to get rid of the stinky smell. Catnip! I'll bring my special secret stash so you can roll around in it and cover yourself real good. Catnip gets rid of any stinky smells. Of course you may be wonky after, but who cares, you won't stink.

Oh and my bean loves the choco mint tea and sez thank you.

You is too funny spitting out your pills. When my bean does that to me, I gag and choke and gack all over the floor, just because I can and I don't like pills! But I wonder if you take your pills, maybe you feel better and want to eat all your yummy fuds. Hmmm, something to consider no?!

I've never been to Disney, I hear it's a fun place with lots of yummy smells and things to eat. I am so excited, but I don't know if I want to go on any rollercoasters! I like all my paws on the ground where I can feel them. So, you go on the rides and I'll guard our gear! Then we can eat and drink and party!

Signed Maui the Magnificent

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232 - vet appt

Hope the vet visit goes well and you get good news on everything with Mannie and the concerns are related to the meds. Hope you get feeling better too! Keep us posted!

Jo

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232, +4 183 - at vet

Hi Everyone! In true Mannie fashion he peed in his carrier on the way to the vetty, so no urine to collect. as much as it pained be to do so, I left him there for a couple of hours so they can get the sample. We really do need that to check on the UTI status. Hopefully to while there they will get BP check done. They were having trouble with their machine while I was there, so the vet is working on getting that up and operational. shesshh! They wall also do BW and fecal too. And she promised me she will monitor his BG: nice to hear that, anyways.... will update more when I pick him up, and see what is what. My poor boy!

Morning Anne ~O) ~O) ~O) THX on the vines. Me to on the drugs. Today will be mainly for the labs etc, the BP stuff will wait for the cardiologist on Monday. THX too on Mannie understanding. I think he does. And yes on Mannie and DGS - it is amazing how well they get along. LOVE IT!

Morning Michelle ~O) ~O) ~O) THX - we hope for good results. paws crossed! I am hoping that it is just the meds... I hope too that you are feeling better. This cold sure was a linger-er... been a week for me. Hope you are feeling better. I agree: it does seem like everyone has it.

Hi Roni ~O) ~O) ~O) Many thanks! I think so too - the labs needed to be redone. he is due. Well we hope he isn't too stressed out up there. Poor guy!

Ho Josie ~O) ~O) ~O) That is an affirmative on the extra hugs and cuddles. :-D I too hope he feels better.

Morning Carla ~O) ~O) ~O) THX!, and I hope so too. I sure would love a definitive answer. :-D Paws crossed. THX on teh cold - I feel somewhat better today, so that is good. :-D

Morning Ann ~O) ~O) ~O) OMG - i LOVE that!! What fun, and many thanks. it did make me laugh - sorely needed here this morning. :-D Me too on the heart meds - I hope the cardiologist can address that on Monday. I know on the CPC!! I'm getting it in him, but have to change fuds alot throughout the day - omg on that - at least he still eats, just an issue getting there. I hope it is just nausea related and we can fix that. SO I would think on the probiotic - I just decided for now to stop and see if that was a factor. Don't think so, it is the meds, and once that is resolved we will resume. I did ask about the cranberry - she does recommend it, in fact they sell it there. so good to go. I will look for Dr Lisa's article. THX!!!

Hi Jo ~O) ~O) ~O) many thanks!! I hate this waiting... well i too hope for good results, paws crossed I'm just being a worrisome bean...

Maui! GIRL! ooooo - dental for you? i is sorry.... i just had to pee for them... now I gots to wait cuz I pee'd too soon. sheshhhh - they didn't say not in the carrier.... awesome on the catnip - I will ave the bean get some! OK... will work on the pills... I don't like them much though, but my bean says I should take them that I will feel better. Guess I will then! Hey - cool on the choco mint tea - awesome!! see you soon ~~ Mannie

Tess - let's roll! once i am vetty sprung that it. OOOOOOOOOO! The parachute drop???? I so wanna do that! See you soon. I should be outta here in a jiffy. ~~ Mannie

Muffins - cool! let's go then!! Once I get outta this vetty place. I am planning my scape now... No vetty stay for the Manster! See you soon!~~ Mannie

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232, +4 183 - at vet

Sending calming vines for Mannie at the vetty. Sorry he had to stay there, that's as hard on the bean as it is the cat. I'm hoping he'll find a solution to Mannie's spotty appy and energy issues. Interesting on the cranberry - are they like treats? I just sprinkle powder on food and it seems to go down just fine. On the positive side, the BMG was playing for a while so his BG numbers should be good at the vetty.

Ann - loved the quote on pilling. A great laugh for the day.

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232, +4 183 - at vet

Morning Wendy ~O) ~O) ~O) THX. I felt so and having to leave him there, but we simply need that urine sample. Me too on the appy and energy issues. Paws crossed! I believe what Ann found were pet treats. What I bought last week was just a powder, and I will have to check on what the vet sells. I hope so too on the numbers at the vetty - be good Mannie! Wasn't that piece from Ann the best? Sure made me laugh!

Morning liz ~O) ~O) ~O) I know.... it really did pain me to have to leave him there. I hope he is hanging in there OK.

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232, +4 183 - at vet

Hi Michelle......I forgot about the time difference. I came looking for vetty results. Too bad he peed in the carrier. It's hard to leave your baby there. He's in good hands, tho.
All paws crossed here, for an outstanding report. :-D

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232, +4 183 - at vet

Sometimes they just need to stay there. We've been lucky the last couple of time, no premature samples offered!

Which brand of cranberry does your vet sell and what dosage are you giving of the capsules? Have you tried it yet? That is one thing I have not tried yet because I wondered if Tess would object to the flavor. The treats i found are supposed to be chicken liver flavored. Could the cranberry be what Mannie is objecting to in his fuds?

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232, +4 183 - at vet

Hi Barb - no problem... he's still there - the little bugger must not want to giver up his bodily fluids.  and yes - he is in good hands, thought the waiting is hard... Pee Mannie pee!  THX - I hope so too on the report.

Hi Ann - I haven't given it to him yet. the cranberry - I believe that what he is objecting too are the pills, especially the BP one, As I have read it is bitter. i can so see his logic - ugh that tasted bad, therefore this fuds must be bad so... no more eatie for me. he won't even touch the pill pockets now...  so.... next step is the gelcaps that Libby recommended - then he can't smell or taste it. I will try and remember to ask which cranberry it is that they sell. she said the name , I swore I could remember that, but nooooo! forgot. and yes, sometimes they do... hard but in his best interests right now.

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232, +4 183 - at vet

Ann's "How to give a cat a pill" had me in TEARS!!!

Re: Disneyland -- There are 2 things I love: cats (obviously) and Disneyland. I go once a year with my amazing mother (also a Dizzilyland lover), have a trip coming up in about a month, and I vote a resounding YES for Mannie, uh, I mean, his BEAN FAMILY to go go go!

Ripley has a message for Mannie: "Psssssssssssssssssssss."
I think she's going for the contagious sound of peeing... Good luck, Mannie!

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232, +4 183 - vet report

VETTY REPORT.... finally the nanner King, aka I will never ever surrender my bodily fluids to these white coats, surrendered enough pee that I could bring him home. There wasn't enough to do a U/A, but is enough to send off to the lab for a C&S, which is what we need anyways... Appearance of the urine was cloudy, which indicates, possibly, that the UTI is not cleared up, which would explain the BG's, and the appy and and and.... so... we wait on the results before we start an A/B. Both the vet and I want to know what AB will work this go around so we can avoid the Clav. Won't go there again with that. The rest of Mannie checked out OK. She checked him from stem to stern several times, found no indication of anything amiss. No apparent pain issues, all parts appear to be functioning normally. gum.skin coloration is good, internal parts all feel normal. We both agreed I will deal with the heart meds stuff with the cardiologist on monday. We both agree too that the pills are probably bothering Mannie - the taste etc which is turning him off on his fuds. so - new approach: I will try grounding them all up, mixing it with water and down the hatch via syringe, to be followed by a treat that I know he likes. as far as any nausea, I will talk with the cardio guy about that - see of we need to change meds. In the meantime pepcid will be added to the mix. lab results pending - probably monday, maybe Tuesday. We did CBC panel, fecal test, and C&S. She ruled out pancreatitis, a definite no on that. And I think that about covers it.... I hope....

he was ELATED to be home! though they did feed him. I bet you can guess what too... YUPP! Science Diet MD. sheshhh! ohmygod_smile

HI everyone: Jo, Asoolty, Ann, Josie and Mary !! THANKS for the Pee vines! THEY WORKED! Well, enough that he gave them enough for the test we needed.

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232, +4 183, +10 314 - vet repor

So happy Mannie is finally home!! Good news, sucks you had to leave him there but it is done and over with. Hope you can find the right ab to treat it! We have a pharmacy here that will put ab's into liquid form with tuna flavor to syringe. I had to do that with Scrabble when he had the skin infection. Hope Mannie enjoys some nice sleep tonight in his nanner pile!

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232, +4 183, +10 314 - vet repor

May I suggest that you keep some of his canned food in the car, so next time he needs to go to the vet and stay you supply the food with instructions that he is only allowed to eat what you brought. be sure to label the food with mannie's name so there is no mix up.

also, ask them to write in his file and put in bold with red the only kind of food he is allowed.

I never take the chance anymore with vets feeding my girls whatever, I bring their food, treats and anything else they may need just to be sure.

Hey Mannie,

You stinky huh?! well take a catnip bath and you won't be stinky anymore. you were gone all day long and we all waited and waited for you and didn't go to disney, cause we waited for you. and well, we also ate and drank all the fuds and stuff, while we waited, we did save you an anchovy and chicken kabob ;-) ;-) ;-) . so get unstinky and cleaned up and come out to the treehouse.

signed, maui the magnificent

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232, +4 183, +10 314 - vet repor

Michelle:

Had you thought about putting the pill in a capsule? You could either break it apart of see if it fits whole. The company I linked has chicken and beef flavored capsules for cats.

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232, +4 183, +10 314 - vet repor

HI Michelle - me too - it is good to have him home. I was sorry he had to stay, but at least they got what they needed. oh wow - nice to know on the pharmacy and the liquid form - tuna flavor uh. That Mannie would love. I will have to look into that too. and I am sure Mannie will - it will be sleeping night for sure - zonked out know already!

Hi Sienne - yes, that is an option too, and once I get around to finding the right ones, size wise etc I will try that too. I need to figure out what size I would need. Sure would be easy way to go....

Hi Hillary - yes, learned a lesson on that one - on the fuds. it just never occurred to me that they would feed him - it wasn't like he was going to be there all day. so, going forward the car will have some Mannie fuds in it.... yes for sure now!

Maui - yes, that is an affirmative - I am stinky.... major stinky. need lots of nip! heeheehee - you are so funny on the waiting... and waiting... and you ate everything???? well done! I would have too! ! can we still go to Disneyland? is t open at night? maybe we should just chillax in the treehouse! ~~ Mannie, aka stinky

Re: 1/5 Mannie AMPS 211, +2 232, +4 183, +10 314 - vet repor

Hi Michelle. I'm so happy for the good report. No pain, no pancreatitis. Gots a pee sample to send off to lab.
Bringing your own food is an excellent idea. I've done that, even when I've been told that Checks wouldn't be fed, like dental day. Not that he'd eat anyway, especially after extraction.

I wish you tons of luck with the course of action you choose, on the pills. I never thought of capsules. I had to give Pepcid last week, and used regular Pill Pockets, out of desperation. I won't shove it down his throat, 'cause they're sharp, when broken. Capsule would glide nicely, when throat is wet.

Yay, Mannie is home! Paws crossed for the lab results. Great suggestions, this place always amazes me with the ideas that people have.

Re: 1/5 Mannie PMPS 310 - vet report

310 @ PMPS. He ate OK - tried anew food: Blue Wilderness Chicken, which he seemed to like, but didn't want to Finish, so topped if off with some of his Fav FF, which he did finish. so.... OK I guess. The pill did not go so well. I didn't do the syringe method yet. Tonight was open wide and down the throat - 5 times he spit it out, even with water given after.    Finally got out some Gerber Baby food, put it in a small amt of that he gobbled up. I wonder how long this method will work.

HI Barb - me too. Basically it was a good visit - looks like we still have a UTI situation, but the rest so far seems OK. I was elated that they got enough pee to send in. drops she said...    but enough. I will do that going forward with the food. I so did not expect them to feed him today - not too sure why they thought they needed to. I dunno.... maybe cuz I was concerned with his BG. I dunno.... :? I will check out the gelcaps - see if I can get them small enough. A trip to the pharmacy to see what size is what - I have no clue.... Vet cracked me up - she says just coat it with butter, works every time. and I kept thinking "but this is Mannie" nothing is a sure thing with him.    She did say though with the gelcaps that you have to be sure they get all the way in the back of the throat and give with lot of water, or they can get hung up in the esophagus, which I guess is not good. I dunno there too... again I kept thinking this is Mannie - who does not sit still for anything shoved in his throat...

Hi Liz - thanks on the labs - I hope the reports come back with expected results. paws crossed! I so agree on the suggestions and ideas folks have. So so helpful on so many levels. :-D :-D

Re: 1/5 Mannie PMPS 310 - vet report

Great vetty report! That's a lot of capsules! But if it an everyday dosing you would use them up, in a few years!  It looks like the CatCaps are all size 3 although they have a size 1 for dogs. 3 is nearly the smallest size made. Click on one of the regular type capsules, there is a size chart at the bottom of the page. Ask the cardiologist if he thinks 3 would be the right size, or go to a pharmacist!

I usually opt for liquid if I get a choice. We had horrible time w/ the Clav pills too. If there is still an infection and is e-coli again, the Orbax worked great for Tess

Re: 1/5 Mannie PMPS 310 - vet report

Hi again,

That's a good vetty report, Mannie. Now all you have to do is take your meds without a struggle! (I have no suggestions: nothing has ever worked with either Rusty or with Stu). Just think, Michelle, tomorrow is Sunday and you will have a whole day to chillax with your kitty (and maybe get out for a little hike, too). Have a good evening and relax.

Not a bad PMPS, either!

Ella & Rusty

Re: 1/5 Mannie PMPS 310 - vet report

Glad the vet visit is over!! Now Mannie can get better & you can relax a little...
I actually gave Moonie pepcid tonite dissolved in water & syringed down because she fusses so much!! The only meds she will eat is the prednisolone, which comes from Veterinary Pharmacies of America, which is a compounding pharmacy, and amke the pred in chicken & fish flavors!!
Wish they could do that with Clavamox & other meds we must give our kitties, it would make our lives much easier..
Hope all the BW and tests come back ok * Mannie Boy will be well again--Hugs & Much Love from us!!

Re: 1/5 Mannie PMPS 310 - vet report

Paws crossed here for good results from the B/W. So glad they got those few drops or at least enough for a C/S. Regarding cranberry powder, I haven't had an issue with a pinch just mushed into food. A number of canned foods, such as Wellness, have cranberry in their ingredient list.

Re: 1/5 Mannie PMPS 310 - vet report

Hi Ann - yeah on the capsules!    Well I may get some anyways - as this is a twice a day thing. Maybe the pharmacy will just sell me a few until I see hoe it goes. Thanks on the sizing info - guess I needed to check further for the sizing chart silly me!!!  we will talk with the cardiologist about all of this too - he deals with it all daily, one would think he would have solutions. Yupp - I remember your experience with the clav pills - I know I sure don't want to go there again,. We never did have the vomiting, but one sure could tell they bothered him - and omg major liqui-poo. I felt bad for him - major bum washing daily.... THX for the info on Orbax - I remember you mentioning that as the one you used. so we wait on labs.... I so hate waiting....

Hi Ella - yes, it basically was. nothing seriously wrong with him unless the ;labs reveal something, but she didn't think they would. He really got poked and prodded today so I know she was thorough... I know on the meds... I can't blame him for being so tired of this. tonight the BF worked. Keep that on the plate too. AND RIGHT YOU ARE! Sunday tomorrow and a whole day to chillax with the Mannie and maybe even get out for a hike. I have so missed that. :-D

Hi Roni - Many thanks! and I so agreed with the flavored meds. Wouldn't that be wonderful! :-D Me too n the labs - paws are all crossed that all comes back OK, and that the UTI is either confirmed or ruled out.

Hi Wendy - THX! and me too! me too big time on the few drops. They wanted him to stay alot longer to get more: I finally had to say no time for him to come home, use what you got. all we needed was enough for a C&S. Which they had, so.... hopefully good to go! THX on the cranberry info - I think that is the way I will go. and I had no idea on cranberry being in some fuds. I so need to read labels better than I do. Thank you for that - lesson learned here today.

Re: 1/5 Mannie PMPS 310 - vet report

No too bad of a report, all things considered. Damn those UTIs and pills! I'm glad all else looks good with the nanner king! I hope you guys are enjoying a relaxing evening...

Re: 1/5 Mannie PMPS 310, +2 271 - vet report

271 @ +2, playing the fuds game with the +2 mini meal. oh well - at least he ate it all. :-D

Hi Amy - SO AGREED! I thought to too - not too bad of a report, considering all that is going on with him.  ;-) me too on the rest. Sure am trying on the relaxing evening. Finish here with Mannie and then I so need to do that. time with my kitty.... :-D

Re: 1/5 Mannie PMPS 310 - vet report

Hi, guys.

I'm sorry to hear that Mannie is having UTI issues. I've had problems with that with one of Blackie's babies, Jr. Mint. I've had to put him on the same food that Blackie eats as it's very low in magnesium. He hasn't had an issue with UTI since.

I'm sending tons of positive thoughts and healing vines for him, and you. Hang in there. :YMHUG:

Re: 1/5 Mannie PMPS 310, +2 271 - vet report

I'm Glad your finally peed Mannie, it's good to be home. waiting on the good results :thumbup

Re: 1/5 Mannie PMPS 310, +2 271 - vet report

YAY for pee and thank heavens for baby fuds! Hope that method works without any detection from the Mannie boy! Shasta and I send hugs to both of you!

247 @ +4. Still yellow, but numbers are down. Good I think, considering the day Mannie has had.

Hi Angela - Me too on Mannie - it appears that we did not rid him of the problem last month. We just need to wait for labs to confirm, but that is the vet's best guess at the moment, figuratively speaking. Thanks for the info on Jr Mint. I have found a source for the EVO, just have not fed it to him yet. Many thanks for the vines and thoughts. We are hanging in there, the best we can. :-D

Hi Aseel - it is! Mannie was so glad to be home. HE is relaxed again and sleeping - it has been a long day for him. THX - we hope for good results too.

Hi Deborah - oh yes on the YAY for pee. :-D at least enough to be able to do some testing with. another big yes on the hooray for Baby food. If he can gobble that up without finding the meds - a big hooraY!!! paws crossed it works tomorrow... sure is easier than any of the other methods. :-D THX too for the hugs.

Poor Mannie!. Sending him many healing vines.

I had the same thought as Sienne. That's what I do for Gus...I put his multiB and B12 in a #3 gelcap but I then give it to him in a pill pocket but he can have the chicken pockets which are not FD friendly. I have missed whether Mannie will eat the dog duck pea pill pockets. I know Zener does but Gracie doesn't like them.

I sure hope he gets to feeling better. Lots on his plate right now. Oh...I'd also ask the vet about baytril if the or ax isn't an option. Baytril is good for urinary tract conditions. Just have to be careful with the dosing.

Darling pic of Nicholas napping. I hope he feels better soon.

morning Marje - still considering the gelcaps. The pill pockets were good to go with Mannie for a long while too: now he won't eat them, no matter what flavor, so for now that method is out. Today I used a small amt BF, that worked great. a relief! yes, there is alot on his plate right now. Once we know if there is for sure another UTI, well rather that the other one wasn't eradicated, then we will get the AB, and no clavamox. Not after that last go around, which was very ahrd on him, and apparently didn't do the job anyways.... I will ask for Orbax, or batril, if that comes back as a good choice on the sensitivity panel. THX on DGS - he's getting better too.
