Ughhhh....Champ and his love for pink!!! I'll be increasing his dose tomorrow morning for sure. He and I have gotten so much sleep this weekend and it's been much needed. At least I left the house on Friday for a few hours...Champ just snoozes constantly on the living room couch if I'm in that room (or out of the house), or in his cat tree in my office if I'm in that room (that's where he is now). I can definitely tell on my face that the sleep has been well received. The black circles under my eyes have actually faded for the first time in a long time!!! Champ still looks purrfect!!! I just love to rub my face on the top of his head. It makes him purr so loud!! He's such a love nugget!!!
I was successful in my hunt for bonito flakes. It was such a fun trip with my friend. I haven't seen her in about a year, though we talk on the phone. We went to an Asian supermarket and I asked EVERYONE where the bonito flakes were. EVERYONE looked at me like I was crazy and had no idea what I was talking about. I asked the checkers, the stockboys, the customers, all Asian.....no one had heard of them. My friend and I finally realized there was a Japanese name for bonito flakes so I just showed the stockboy a picture of a bag of bonito flakes on my phone and he took me straight to them!! It was the exact same bag I had bought online for $14.00...and this bag cost $5.99. I bought three bags.
Well....last night my daughter and I went to the store. We pulled into the drive thru at Starbucks to use our coupons for a free drink. I mentioned to my daughter that my exhaust smelled funny. We went on to Walmart, exchanged a Christmas present, and then left about 11 p.m. When we were almost home, I noticed smoke in the light of my headlights. At the next stoplight, I noticed A LOT of smoke in the light of my headlights and could now smell it in my car. Being out in the middle of the desert, but very close to home, I ran the red light and got up into my garage. I shut off the engine and, sure enough, there was an oil trail all the way down the street and up my driveway and the smell was of burnt oil. Now, no lights came on in the instrument panel, my engine sounded fine, there was no problem with the transmission shifting gears, no steering problems, and the engine temperature never got off the midline...no overheating at all. I got up this morning, called my dad in Texas, and he told me to go check to see if the dipstick shows I have any oil. Nope. Not one drop. Not even a drop on the end of the dipstick. I had put a flat cardboard box underneath the car when I parked it last night and there was oil all over it and the floor so I guess that's where it went. My insurance pays for towing so I'm having it towed to the dealership tomorrow morning. I hate taking it to a dealership because they're so expensive, but I've never had to have work done on a car in so many years that I have no relationship with any place to know if they're any good or not. I bought this car brand new in 2007 (it's a Toyota Rav4) and it only has 45,000 miles on it (since I work at home, I don't drive much) so it's never had any work done on it except oil changes. I'm going to have the dealership service shop look at it and tell me what's wrong and how much it will cost. My parents are going to let me use their credit card to pay to have it fixed so everyone pray that it's just a hose or something that came loose and it's not a big major repair. PRAY!!!! Geez Louise....when it rains in my life, it flippin pours. I seriously cannot deal with anything else major happening unless it's something good...like money coming in, not going out!! Even more now, I'm so thankful for everyone who helped me pay for Champ's hospitalization. If I had that bill staring me in the face along with this, I'm sure I'd just lose it!! That's one huge worry I didn't have to shoulder on my own and I can't thank you all enough!!!
So, I'm determined to have a good day today. I'm not going to think about the car because there's nothing I can do about it at this moment. I'm going to pack away my Christmas decorations, watch some shows on TV, and kiss my Champers often. Tomorrow will come soon enough!!
I hope you ALL have a great day!!!
