Ughhhh....Champ and his love for pink!!! I'll be increasing his dose tomorrow morning for sure. He and I have gotten so much sleep this weekend and it's been much needed. At least I left the house on Friday for a few hours...Champ just snoozes constantly on the living room couch if I'm in that room (or out of the house), or in his cat tree in my office if I'm in that room (that's where he is now). I can definitely tell on my face that the sleep has been well received. The black circles under my eyes have actually faded for the first time in a long time!!! Champ still looks purrfect!!! I just love to rub my face on the top of his head. It makes him purr so loud!! He's such a love nugget!!!

I was successful in my hunt for bonito flakes. It was such a fun trip with my friend. I haven't seen her in about a year, though we talk on the phone. We went to an Asian supermarket and I asked EVERYONE where the bonito flakes were. EVERYONE looked at me like I was crazy and had no idea what I was talking about. I asked the checkers, the stockboys, the customers, all Asian.....no one had heard of them. My friend and I finally realized there was a Japanese name for bonito flakes so I just showed the stockboy a picture of a bag of bonito flakes on my phone and he took me straight to them!! It was the exact same bag I had bought online for $14.00...and this bag cost $5.99. I bought three bags.

Well....last night my daughter and I went to the store. We pulled into the drive thru at Starbucks to use our coupons for a free drink. I mentioned to my daughter that my exhaust smelled funny. We went on to Walmart, exchanged a Christmas present, and then left about 11 p.m. When we were almost home, I noticed smoke in the light of my headlights. At the next stoplight, I noticed A LOT of smoke in the light of my headlights and could now smell it in my car. Being out in the middle of the desert, but very close to home, I ran the red light and got up into my garage. I shut off the engine and, sure enough, there was an oil trail all the way down the street and up my driveway and the smell was of burnt oil. Now, no lights came on in the instrument panel, my engine sounded fine, there was no problem with the transmission shifting gears, no steering problems, and the engine temperature never got off the midline...no overheating at all. I got up this morning, called my dad in Texas, and he told me to go check to see if the dipstick shows I have any oil. Nope. Not one drop. Not even a drop on the end of the dipstick. I had put a flat cardboard box underneath the car when I parked it last night and there was oil all over it and the floor so I guess that's where it went. My insurance pays for towing so I'm having it towed to the dealership tomorrow morning. I hate taking it to a dealership because they're so expensive, but I've never had to have work done on a car in so many years that I have no relationship with any place to know if they're any good or not. I bought this car brand new in 2007 (it's a Toyota Rav4) and it only has 45,000 miles on it (since I work at home, I don't drive much) so it's never had any work done on it except oil changes. I'm going to have the dealership service shop look at it and tell me what's wrong and how much it will cost. My parents are going to let me use their credit card to pay to have it fixed so everyone pray that it's just a hose or something that came loose and it's not a big major repair. PRAY!!!! Geez Louise....when it rains in my life, it flippin pours. I seriously cannot deal with anything else major happening unless it's something good...like money coming in, not going out!! Even more now, I'm so thankful for everyone who helped me pay for Champ's hospitalization. If I had that bill staring me in the face along with this, I'm sure I'd just lose it!! That's one huge worry I didn't have to shoulder on my own and I can't thank you all enough!!!

So, I'm determined to have a good day today. I'm not going to think about the car because there's nothing I can do about it at this moment. I'm going to pack away my Christmas decorations, watch some shows on TV, and kiss my Champers often. Tomorrow will come soon enough!!

I hope you ALL have a great day!!!

I hope Champ turns things around and comes back down today. I hope your car repair will be something simple and not very expensive. I'm glad you made it home okay.

Re: 1/5 Champ AMPS 208, +3.5 327

Patty:

So glad you made it home safely. If no engine lights came on, you may have escaped major damage to the engine. Running with no oil is NOT good, and wouldn't have lasted long, then big $$$$$. :o I'll keep my fingers crossed that it was a broken or loose oil line.

Glad you got some sleep and that Champ is feeling well. Now he just needs to bring those numbers down for you.

Great tip on the Bonito flakes. I've been buying them online, but I think I'll see if I can find an Asian market. There used to be one near my home, but it closed a couple of years ago. I may have to go into Sacramento for one, but I go there about once a week, so it won't be a special trip.

Good luck with the car!

Champ, that is SO thw wrong way! Blue is your color. Green is your color. Pinkus = stinkus!!!!! Work that juice, little dude!

Wow on the car. At least you made it home safely. Cars are such a necessary evil...big black holes for money. Fingers crossed it won't cost much to fix.

Enjoy hanging out with Champ today!!!

Re: 1/5 Champ AMPS 208, +3.5 327

Oh Jeeze! I'd veg out and cuddle my kitty toady too! Good luck on the dose crease and I hope it is just a loose oil line. Amazing that no lights came on!

Re: 1/5 Champ AMPS 208, +3.5 327

Goodness Patty, I'm also glad you made it home before more damage was possibly done to your car, I hope they can fix it for little $. and that it's nothing major. What is up with Champ today?, did he get into some contraband or is he just keeping you on your toes also? I'm sure with more head bonks and snuggles from Momma, he'll come back down. I want Bonita flakes for $5 too please (lol) good job on showing the photo!
Will you please give Champ a kiss from me too!
Have a great day Patty :YMHUG:

Re: 1/5 Champ AMPS 208, +3.5 327

Oh Patty! What a night - lucky you made it home. I hope it is something minor, though nothing is inexpensive when it comes to cars!
I love to rub my face on the top of my kitties heads too :-D :-D When I do that to Cleo, and rub her cheeks with my hands at the same time, she will start a purring. That is our before test ritual (when she is in the mood).
Ok, Champ, time to come on down~ Pink is not the color for you!
Enjoy your Sunday!

Re: 1/5 Champ AMPS 208, +3.5 327

Yay for finding good priced bonito flakes! :-D :-D Mine cost an arm and a leg. Sorry the trip with your daughter didn't end so well, with your car  I'm glad you got home safe...I hope the bill isn't too bad, and that whatever went wrong is covered by warranty or something? If not, I hope it's low $$$. I had three things crater in my car this summer to the tune of $3000, so I have a dad that had to help me too (I'm still paying him back but almost done!).

Champ, quit hanging out in pink, Chyna thinks since you're there it's ok to stay there to party! I hope you have a nice day with kitty kisses and cuddles cat_pet_icon

Re: 1/5 Champ AMPS 208, +3.5 327

Patty, my DH, who is, among other things, a car nerd, says you probably have a hole in your oil pan - modern cars don't really have oil lines. He asked if you had it serviced recently? If so, something may not have been tightened properly. The fact that there was still oil coming out when you got home is a good thing - the engine was stopped before it ran out of oil, so probably no harm, no foul there. Hoping for good things when you have it checked out!

Re: 1/5 Champ AMPS 208, +3.5 327

tricia's advice sounds very optimistic! hope you got good news today. i hate car repairs too because i don't know enough on my own and ya gotta trust people that reports usually say take advantage of women. what's a person to do? *sigh* hoping they're good to you.

enjoy your champ snuggles! they are so precious.

Re: 1/5 Champ AMPS 208, +3.5 327

Hey Patty,
Looks like Champ and Rusty decided to practice curling on the Pink Team today. I may do a dosecrease tomorrow, too. Come on, guys, surprise us!

Good luck with your car. It could be a loose or broken drainage cap that broke loose entirely and allowed all the oil to drain out. I hope it doesn't cost too much to get it fixed. Think good thoughts about it! Now you know not to trust the "idiot" lights on the dashboard!!! When you really need them, they don't work!

Have a good, relaxing evening and get more of that good sleep!

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty
