Slow down checkers, we know you want to wear green to the party, but you don't want otohave to go and change right in the middle. Stik around the blue floor for a while!

Hi Barb, Checkers was in a hurry to get to the blue floor today! Nice +3 though, looks like he's slowing it down. Easy does it Checkers!

Good plan to feed HC last night...safety comes first. How is your back doing?

Re: 1/4 Checkers amps 428..+2/171..+3/111

Hi Barb - nice plan last night - I would have done the same. How are you doing btw?

Looks like Checkers is in a hurry to exit that red floor - slow down there a little checks, OK? Looks like the +3 says he has.

have a great day today!

Checkers, practicing your diving techniques? Looks like they're in fine shape, so cut that out! Slow it down big fella!

Re: 1/4 Checkers amps 428..+2/171..+3/111

You asked in Gabby's condo what I do to keep her surfing...

What I'm seeing with Checkers is that in some cycles you getting fast, early drops. You may need to re-think how you're feeding. Understand, Gabby still does the same thing. The first step though, is to spread out the food more. Try dividing the food for the cycle into 3 or 4 servings that you give at pre-shot, +1, +2 and +3 (if you're going for the 4-course plan). You may need to still use HC. I suspect you're feeding enough HC that you're aborting the cycle (e.g., the 77 to 152 last night).

I tend to not use gravy. Gabby has developed diarrhea if she gets too much gravy. I generally use Karo to bring up her numbers. I use literally a drop (and I''m differentiating that from a "glug" which is how the stuff can come out of the bottle!) if Gabby's numbers are dropping early in the cycle. I will also test in 30 min. to see if her numbers have flattened out or if they are still dropping. On Jan. 1st, she got HC at several points because her numbers were wobbling. On 1/2, when she dropped from 160 to 58 at +2, she got some HC but that was it.

Some of how you intervene is a matter of knowing your cat and not being freaked by low numbers as well as being mindful of what your goals are. I'm trying to keep Gabby in lower, pancreas healing ranges without her earning a decrease and without bouncing. I work at keeping her numbers within a relatively narrow range. One of the biggest pluses is being confident in your ability to manage your cat's numbers.

Re: 1/4 Checkers amps 428..+2/171..+3/111

428 amps...f1......ate about a Tables. lc FFeast......overcarbed last night @ 77
171 +2......little more breffis
111 +3......another T breffis
82 +4.....finished can of LC. FF +bit of tuna. (about 1/2 teas
105 +5.....no food
111 +6....bit tuna

Sienne, I will start to post his feedings, along with test numbers. I try to not make the posts too wordy, but you can't know what I'm doing, if I don't post it.

He gets fed at preshot...+1, +2, +3,( and 4, if he asks) and bits of tuna at tests. (Tradition)

During nighttime lows, you're correct; I do abort drops, by over-carbing, simply because I'm groggy, and not awake enough to give a little bit, and wait.

During daytime, I've learned to give just a little gravy, because he's carb sensitive, and I can watch/test.

My goal is not to have consistent green, but to keep him between 80 and 150.

Thank you for responding.

I'd suggest putting the info about how you're feeding either in your signature or on your SS. Keep in mind that feeding to manage the curve is trial and error. If 4 mini-meals isn't working try 3.

To be honest, Jill is the person that is best at experimenting with food plans. You might want to send her a PM.
