LOL. Well, it's good for him to get insulin support for a strong remission. As long as you are not propping him up with HC, it's perfectly fine to feed a little higher carb occasionally to prevent a drop below 50 and keep them at a good dose.

When you are monitoring, you needn't worry about a drop below 50 since you will catch it soon and feed and bring him up.

I know, I just panic when I see red on the reading and the alarm starts going off. I need to get over that. I worry he won't slow down, but that has never happened.
