Hi everyone!
been a little frustrated the last 2 days, and pissed at myself
I ran out of alpha track test strip and ordered them but they are not here yet! :-x
so I only have the Relion, which I dont trust and throws off these strange numbers
and the freestyle
so yesterdays pmps was 235 freestyle and 446 RElion :?
so I am thinking that the alpha track number would be somewhere in between.....#%*%&*)_%#()+!%(
hopefully the strips will be here tomorrow!

wishing everyone moonbeams and sunshine today!!

Denise,
Sorry about the aggravation with running out of strips and the unreliability of the meters.
I have used my Relion for months now. I know you had issues with the Free Style, but what made you go to the Alpha Trak over the Relion?

Hope Shakes is feeling OK...

I'll go for moonshine and sunbeams today. It's been one of those day!!

Wow Denise,
Hate that you are going through 'testing meter hell'. It sounds CRAZY. Hate that there is such a HUGE difference in the readings. It can make you go insane. nailbite_smile Hope those strips come soon as I know you are sticking with the AT.

You are right Ginny,
mooshine and sunbeams do sound good tonight!
I have not trusted the Relion since I got it, it consistently runs much higher than the
alphatrack, usually throwing at least 80 points higher sometimes more
and my vet uses the alpha track so I feel that would be more reliable
So i have decided to use the fresstyle and add 150 points to that number
as that ran CONSISTENTLY lower than the alphatrack, and the relion was all over the place

Are the alphatrak strips more expensive? I assume so and right now, we're in cut back mode. At least until Thursday  , when I find out what's going to happen to my job. Today was DH's last day at work. Kinda sad.

Oh Denise, I am sorry you are still in meter hell. So weird, our Relion came in closer to our vet’s meters than our AT. Not by tons, but it was still closer.

Makes me wonder if you got a wonky Relion or AT. I know you’ll be happier if you can pick one and stick with it. Have you checked both meters with your vets? (I forget if you said this already) Does he use bench top blood test machines besides the AT? That is what my vet wanted to test my meters against, he said that would be the most accurate.

Hopefully you guys can arrive at a good dose once you get this down. What is Shakes teeth situation? Could that be making your numbers ikky too?

Yes Ginny, the AT strips are much more expensive than relion ones. For example at ADW: 100 AT strips are $105 and 100 arkray strips for the relion are $32.

Yes, the Relion strips are dirt cheap compared to the AT. Just in case any Relion users didn't see this there is a sale at ADW Buy 4 get 1 free which brings the price to $69.99 for 250 strips. I found a code on Google for $5 off previously so I'm sure coupons codes are still out there. It is the 'generic' version of the Relion strip. I have tried it and it works just fine.

I am in for the Moonshine!! Or, just a good cheap wine would work for me tonight!

It is increadible the difference in the meter readings. It really makes you wonder which meters are right. I use the Accu Check Aviva and have been happy with it-- but, who knows if it is correct. The one thing I am certain of is, Kitty tested high on the same meter 7 months ago when I was dosing bid and now she is in much lower numbers since going tid. So, I have to think the meter readings have some validity.

I hope the strips come soon Denise!

Denise,

So sorry still having meter problems. I so understand it though. I'm also very unsure of my meter's lately. I started comparing my relion with the AT and the At was coming in almost 50pts lower than the relion. Some days it is lower than the AT. Got so frustrated with it last week and worried that i always thought i had a 30pt safety zone with relion. But can't relie on that now. SO a little more scary when the low number start coming now. But you have to trust something.

Where do you get your AT strips?

Hope things start getting better for you!

Lori

Thanks everyone,

Donna,
I trust the alpha track more as my vet uses that and I dont know if she uses the machine I will
have to check...but I dont trust the relion as the differences with the alpha track are all over the place
sometimes it is with in 10 points, then it will be 80 points higher, then I will gget a 150 point difference
where the alpha track has always been consistent.

I normally buy the strips through Amazon for 60.00 for 50 strips,
but Sunday I found the American Diabetes supply andI got them for 55.0

So good to see something on Shakes. I was going through withdrawals!

So sorry to hear of the ongoing saga of the weird meter readings. That has got to be so frustrating!
