Gabby had a great day yesterday. This morning has been quiet. Gabby is snoozing in her boxes and Gizmo in his tree. We're waiting for the coming blizzard. Today, we're supposed to get an inch of snow and then starting some time Tuesday, the forecast is for 18 - 24 inches. I'm thinkin' "snow day!"

Re: 1/31 Gabby AMPS~226

18-24   hope it stays your way I better go check the weather looks like Gabby is starting off with a nice low yellow today ;-)

Re: 1/31 Gabby AMPS~226

We're due for 15 inches sometime tomorrow too. Crazy winter!

Hope you, Gizmo and Gabby stay safe and warm indoors.

Re: 1/31 Gabby AMPS~226

If we were in the South, we would all be obliged to run out and buy milk, bread, and eggs right this minute!   But being northerners, we are used to all this storm nonsense

Great day for Gabby yesterday, and I hope she has another one today. Good sunny yellow start. I love how she's into her boxes. When Chaos gets a box, he's happy for a while, but once the "new" wears off something, he's bored.

Re: 1/31 Gabby AMPS~226, +2~105

And another big drop at +2. Gabby is keeping you on your toes. I can't believe the weather some of you guys are getting. Hope the storm misses you and it was all hype.

Maverick loves his boxes. Its the only way I can get him to lie down on the baby scale too. Put a box on top and he's happy. Boxes never lose their newness here. I have to change them out when they get too warn on the sides. He likes the boxes that are cut off - uses them as lounging beds.

Oh that's horrible with the amount of snow. I heard a weather report yesterday from my Mom in PA, but their weather is not quite so severe as yours but still very cold and too much snow. It looks like Gabby may keep you busy again today! Nice Gizmo has his own tree. Maybe you can have a snow day today!

Re: 1/31 Gabby AMPS~226, +2~105, +3~56

Stu loved boxes, especially ones that were too small for him, but Rusty is indifferent.
Quite a +3 for Gabby. She's like the barometric pressure: dropping! You may indeed get a snow day tomorrow.

Ella & Rusty

Sienne, thanks. I am considering a dosecrease, probably to a fat .5 (Libby thinks one is in order, too). I want to see how Rusty does today, however.

Re: 1/31 Gabby AMPS~226, +2~105, +3~56

Gabby is doing her Gabby thing today but that is not such a drastic drop between +2 and +3!

I saw on your condo that you ran out of raw premix and so were just feeding WN and Gabby's numbers improved (which you put on our condo yesterday). Isn't that interesting? What do you think is causing that? I do like the WN but the one thing that bothers me about it is the amount of fat...I wish it had less. I don't think so much fat is that great for FD since they've never been able to definitively determine if fat intake has any effect on the pancreas and causing pancreatitis like in dogs. So are you not feeding the raw anymore at all..even to Gizmo?

the forecast is for 18 - 24 inches. I'm thinkin' "snow day!"
I'm thinking fire in fp, hot chocolate (real not boxed), kitty in my lap, blanket, good book

BTW, on your SS where you have "HC", does that mean karo since Gabby has problems with the gravy? I see you are also giving gravy..did you find some that doesn't upset her tummy?

Re: 1/31 Gabby AMPS~226, +2~105, +3~56

Marjorie:

I agree about the fat in Wellness -- I wish there were less but it seems like most of the premium cat foods are high in fat. FF isn't as high but I'm not thrilled about there being fish in some of the poultry varieties. I feed both cats the same food. It makes life much simpler and what's good for Gabby is good for Gizmo. And I do, on occasion, give Gabby some gravy. I usually use Karo but on occasion, Gabby will get a little gravy. Her system just can't tolerate it if the only HC is gravy. It also seems like she responds much more quickly to syrup than gravy.

Coming storm could be bigger than the blizzard of ‘67

Chicago meteorologists plan to bring cots and a change of clothes to work this week as a massive blizzard is expected to dump up to 20 inches of snow starting Tuesday.

A blizzard watch will be in effect starting Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon for all of northeastern Illinois, according to the National Weather Service.

Current forecasts predict about 20 inches of snow for portions of southern Cook, DuPage, Kane and Will Counties and 18 inches for most of northeastern Illinois.

“I wouldn't want to be trying to get anywhere,” said Bill Nelson, Observation Program Leader for the National Weather Service. “We are planning on bringing in a couple of cots in case we get stuck.”

Light snow is expected to begin falling Monday night, but the heavy snowfall will begin falling midday Tuesday and through Wednesday afternoon.

Meteorologists predict the blizzard will produce whiteout conditions as 40 to 45 mph winds combine with snow falling at a pace of 2 to 4 inches per hour during portions of the storm, Nelson said.

The biggest storm to ever hit Chicago totaled 23 inches in 1967, but meteorologists predict the upcoming blizzard might break records.

“If everything pans out like we think right now, it will be right there at the top,” Nelson said.

The storm is expected to die down early Wednesday afternoon, but lake effect snow might persist into Wednesday night on the Illinois side of the lake before shifting into northwestern Indiana.

The weather service said the heavy snowfall combined with high winds could create whiteout conditions, particularly on Tuesday night into Wednesday, making driving extremely dangerous in some areas. Snow drifts of 5 feet to 10 feet are possible. The service said winds on Tuesday could reach up to 60 mph in open areas and near Lake Michigan.

Once the storm has moved through, bitterly cold temperatures are expected to grip much of the region.

Meteorologists warn of “nearly impossible” travel conditions during the peak of the storm Tuesday afternoon and night and airlines have taken precautionary measures as forecasts come in.

Multiple airlines are relaxing their rebooking policies by offering travel waivers for passengers scheduled to fly to from or through O'Hare International Airport between Tuesday and Thursday.

Only two Chicago snowstorms have ever topped 20 inches, with the last occurring in 1999 when 21.6 inches fell between Jan. 1 and 3.

“As they say, stay tuned,” Nelson said.

This morning has been quiet.

You really don't want to be posting things like that w/ Gabby looking over your shoulder.

Yep, I'd say stockup today and hunker down tomorrow

Goodness gracious, Gabby! You certainly opened my eyes this morning with the 56...nice to see that you are heading upwards. Now, see if you can do a nice green surf for us, ok, girlfriend.

OMG, take a look at your upcoming weather!!! I remember last winter we had that huge snow storm around Valentines day. My neighbor, his three kids, and me had to dig out our street because the snow plows were busy doing the main roads. Thank goodness for the neighbor because I know that I couldn't have shoveled that whole street out myself. Had to get to work, you know, lololol.

Please stay safe and warm.
Oh, btw....I DID not take down my tree...I DID make it into a Steelers Tree

Re: 1/31 Gabby PMPS~205, +2~108

Thanks for the info, Sienne. I know FF is lower in fat but Gracie also has to be limited on fish and by-products so it makes it not a good every day choice. Isn't it ironic how the companies making so called "quality food" cut corners by adding more fat and less protein?
