Buddy seems fine...

Can anyone shed some light on what is going on with Buddy's numbers please...I'm getting a little worried.

We started a new insulin cartridge last night and it hasn't seemed to do anything for him...

Should I increase to 0.75f or maybe even go back to 0.50?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

how is everything in the litterbox department? Any chance he has an infection going on? Time for a vet visit maybe... In the meantime, I would bump the dose to help combat whatever is going on.

The potty situation is normal...everything seems normal...he is his normal Buddy bear self...

is there anything specific you think may be going on with him? Is is possible his body just isn't getting enough insulin?

Could this be a bounce from the 88 of yesterday--How's his teeth?/ Hope you find the answer--You are doing such a good job here!!

Buddy has been stable for so long that seeing that change in numbers makes me think something must be going on health-wise. Constipated, UTI. Has he ever been diagnosed with pancreatitis?

No he has never been diagnosed with pancreatitis. What are the symptoms of pancreatitis? Is is deadly?

I'm not trying to scare you, just pointing out some of the things that often cause well regulated diabetics numbers to increase. Of coure it COULD be just as simple as the fact that his pancreas got a little tired and he just needs to go back up in dose for a little while.

Lots of diabetic cats have chronic pancreatitis, it is painful but not usually deadly, and is very treatable. You would probably notice some changes in Buddy, like drinking water or not eating well or lying in the meatloaf position. You haven't said anything that makes me think he has pancreatitis, it's just a possibility I threw out there.

I'm going to see if I can get Jill or Cassandra to stop in here. Probably if he's not having litter box issues and is eating ok, then the first thing to try would be increasing the dose to see if that helps.

Thanks for your help Libby :) I read up on pancreatitis :) he has been totally normal...so odd...maybe he still has a hairball??? My gut is telling me it's the dose...maybe he just needed to stay on 0.50 a little longer, he was doing so well I know he hit 38 to earn his decrease but...hmmmm, I'm stumped. the potty is normal, the eating is normal, no meatloaf position, he is still playful...

Why do things like this always happen when I'm about to leave town in a few days, I think he knows I'm leaving...lil stinker ;)

Speaking of leaving town in a few days I need to get some suggestions on a safe dose for the budster when I'm gone...with all these crazy numbers this is a hard one for me to figure out...could you let me know who can help me come to a final decision?

Not understanding why you would want to go DOWN to .50? And you've seen green on this dose  ....and you're going out of town and want a safe dose....I think you're on it! cat_pet_icon
