Questions.....

Should I have Thomas on a specific feeding times? I switched him to Fancy Feast Classic from the rx dry food and made sure he had food out except 2 hours before testing. Would it be better to eat in the morning and at night? He seems to eat 3 cans a day. I have made sure he had food out for his blood sugar. Would that affect the numbers?

Also the Libre monitor to attach to body, is this worth it? I can be here all the time to test so I was wondering if that is a good option.

I was grateful to have the libre at initial diagnosis. Very grateful. The first one falled while at the vets, so I had to go to the pharmacy and get another one, all in the same day. That one lasted for entire 14 days. After that, each one failed within a few days. I recommend once someone gets their footing after the initial shock of diagnosis, to learn how to hometest, if they’ve been using a libre strictly. You have already mastered hometesting. I hadn't learned to hometest when his libres started failing. I definitely panicked because I had no way of knowing what his numbers were and his vet was against hometesting. I personally can't trust them after my experiences with them constantly failing. I'm not that type of consumer. That being said, there are people here that use them that aren't new to diabetes. If a cat is difficult to handle, this is a good option. I just recommend you have back up in case it fails. I also would not be comfortable making fine dosing decisions with only the libre figures. If your cat really stresses going to the vet. I recommend installing the libre yourself.

We have information on them and how to install yourself, if you are comfortable. It wasn't difficult at all. I did love not having to interrupt my cat living his life to check his bg especially while relaxing or sleeping. Like with everything, there are pros and cons to a libre.

As far as feedings go, I'm not sure what Thomas weighs. I do know that when I changed my cat's feeding schedule around some, it benefited his numbers. I used to feed him every 6 hours. I feed him now after his shot, at then give a little more at +1-3. Someone suggested someone try this on a post I was reading and when I tried it, I was shocked at what I saw. If your cat can manage, I would try it out.

That reduction was certainly unfortunate for him to earn at the end of last month.

Hope this helps you.
