Higher amps than I would like but not sure if it is still a bounce from the drop of 157 in 2 1/2 hours on New Years Day or Sheba needing more insulin now she is eating full quote again. Time will tell.
Sheba is hungry and eating well this morning...anti jinx...still having the poached chicken and mince but I am going to swap back to her normal diet tonight if she keeps eating today, and see how we go.

I bathed her 2 days ago as she had not been cleaning herself while she was sick, and she now looks lovely and shiny and clean. She is back to cleaning herself after food.
Sending vines to all kitties in need and :bighug:to their beans. Having a sick kitty is hard!

This morning I accidently gave Sheba her 1st and 2nd meal at the 1st meal time.
How did I possibly do that ?? I put the allotted amount of food for both morning meals into a container last night (not her usual food but the chicken and mince).......and not cut up. I usually have it all cut up with supplements added and divided into two containers.
This morning while I was still half asleep I got out the container and just started to cut it up and give it to her....over a period of time...and she kept eating it. It wasn't until I went into the frig to get out the second meal and couldn't find it..that I realised what I had done. But Sheba was standing there expecting her 2nd meal so I cut up some more chicken and juice and she ate that.
She is now asleep in her bed looking very satisfied. I am amazed she ate it all...considering the last week!

Sheba is used to being bathed. I have been bathing my cats for about 25 years. I put her into the empty bath with two containers of warm water. I don't put the plug in so she is never sitting in water. I pour the water over her to wet her with a mug, then soap her, then rinse. She just sits or stands and is quite relaxed. This time while I was washing her, she was rubbing her cheeks onto the corner of the container leaving her scent. You would be surprised the amount of brown water there is when you rinse...especially from the tail area.

Sounds like Sheba is feeling good. So sweet she lets you bath her and even better that she feels like cleaning herself. So happy she's still showing a good appetite!

Thanks Barbara. I am not letting myself think too far ahead as we have had a few hiccups with this flare but today has been good. ( Antijinx )
 
It's been quite an eye opener regarding pancreatitis since I've been here. I get what what you mean about not thinking too far ahead. I will just be happy to share the good moments and hope for an overall trend for the better with you guys.
 
Lovely to read a good Sheba report, sounds as if her appy has returned big time (antijinx of course). She is so obliging letting you bathe her, you make it sound so easy and calm but I'm sure I'd end up in the ER if I tried with any of my civvies! Hope you day continues to be good.

Sheba didn't want her normal raw tonight....ate a small amount very unenthusiasticly......so I abandoned that plan and went back to what she was eating well earlier today and so far she is eating it. I thought she might be nauseated again and was tempted to give her some zofran but decided to try the other food first. Maybe it was just that she wasn't ready for her normal diet yet. I really don't know! I am happy to be guided by her...as long as she eats......

I think the trick is to start bathing when they are young, then they get used to it and are not afraid. They feel so much better after a bath and look lovely and shiny. And as I said earlier, you would be surprised at the amount of brown rinse water that comes away from the tail area, even when they keep themselves clean.:eek:
Oh dear...Sheba looks like she is going in and out of the litter box. I hope she is not getting a flare up of the cystitis.:(
I have not been giving her the cosequin while she has been sick.

Sometimes, when they have been feeling unwell, they associate the last food they ate with feeling sick. That might be why Sheba didn't want her usual food. I think you may need to give it sometime and gradually reintroduce it so she doesn't think it will make her sick. I'm just glad to hear she's eating something with enthusiasm!

It's a great idea to begin bathing them when they're young, so they get used to it. You never know when you will HAVE to clean them up, and it's best if they aren't afraid of it. I loved the way Minka smelled and felt after a bath. And yes, lots of brown water!! o_O

I think you may be right about associating the food with feeling sick, because she has eaten the other food OK. I made up her normal raw food for tonight and tomorrow morning but I have put it in the freezer and will get it out at a later date when things have ..hopefully ...settled right down.
Yes they do smell lovely after a bath:cat:
 
Wonderful. Just wonderful. Keep eating Sheba.

About the bath. I use kitchen sink they spray is gentle. Bathtub is way to noisy and water flow and temp to hard to control. I put a harness on the kitties so I have a way of hanging onto them. They aren't to cooperative.
