Today I'll give Kona Gabapentin a couple hours before her vet visit at 3PM to do some radiographs/x-rays. Vet wanted me to give it last night as well. I tried to mix it with her food but she didn't eat it all, I bet she got half of it at best. I've never given this to her, after some reading last night, it seems like the vet prescribed quite a large dose at 100mg when Kona only weighs 9lbs. Kinda weird...

I'll do my best to try to put it directly into her mouth today before the visit.

Noooo... it's supposed to be a #nopink2024 !!! :arghh:

Hopefully the insulin is still onsetting and we get some smooth action here soon... I'll test again here in an hour around the +3.

Got caught up with work and missed the +3 check. Which is a bummer because there was quite the bit of drop at +4. Hmm.. maybe the onset didn't happen until +3 as suspected.

Aww sleepy girl. Pretty green eye peeking at her Daddy. I hope the vet visit went well today.
I have to pull Ivy her gabapentin. A long time ago I put it in her food and she refused to eat it. I then realized I couldn’t rely on mixing it on. What if she won’t eat the food and get no meds. So I began to just pull her. Luckily I am able to do that.
She will be very sleepy tonight from her sedation. I’m sure she will bounce back tomorrow, Jason. Sending hugs your way :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Wow! That was a lot easier than I expected. I just tilted her head up, her mouth was slightly open, then I just popped it in and held her mouth close for a second and two and she swallowed it. Gave her a nice heft teaspoon of food to wash it down. Hopefully that was enough food.

I'm going to ask if 100mg is too much for a 9lbs cat when I get there.

So glad it went well!! Great job.
I always wash it down with some water to the side of her throat. And I’ve had to give 150 mg and even 200 mg of gaba. Ivy is a bear. She’s around 14 lbs. :)
 
Vet visit went well, she growled at the vet techs while they were doing the radiographs, but they got it done! I was told the vet briefly looked at the results and didn't see anything jumping out, so I think we're good. It was a routine thing anyway, we weren't looking for anything in particular.

She is pretty wobbly right now, still high of the gabapentin, so I'm just keeping an eye on her tonight.

She had a really nice, low PMPS this evening and is now eating her dinner. My baby! :cat:

Good job Kona! So glad it went well.
Took Tiger to vet too to get ketones checked (our order was delayed) and general checkup with tummy problems. All good, 0 ketones!
Compared Libre to manual check while there and and it was 4 points difference.
Happy both our babies did well!

This experiment with Steak Frites has been interesting... I'll be back at +3 to get more data!
