YES!! It's Caturday - finally! And to celebrate the weekend's arrival Mannie brought the day in in grand style. He had a very good day yesterday - surfing the blues, a really flat blue, in the AM cycle and carrying that forward to the ps for the PM cycle. How nice it was to see him find the 70 range for the greens, and maintain that with a MC food, no gravy. HOORAY!, and way to go Mannie. cat_pet_icon We have 252 this morning - not too bad, and I am elated that it is not pink. I hope we can carry this momentum forward today - we shall see what he has planned for today.

The vet called yesterday evening - the clavamox is the correct AB to treat the type of bacterial UTI that he has: e coli, and one other whose name I cannot remember (will get that when I pick up his lab results today). so... looks like he will be on that for three weeks total. Aiyee! The thought of having to med him for 2.5 more weeks is akin to ----> ohmygod_smile He now knows that when I grab him at feeding number one what will go down. Out come the claws and the wiggle cat and the no freaking way attitude. so far?: Bean 6, Mannie 0. He is tolerating the clavamox well, with no problems so far. :thumbup

All is well in MannieLand. Breffis consumed with gusto, and the auto feeder continues to be ignored, requiring an escort. ah Mannie.... He was able to spend sometime outside yesterday afternoon, in between rains. He just loves his yard - made all the patrols. I just wish that when he came back inside he'd leave the yard outside. :roll: it is amazing what comes in stuck to all the fur.... oh: and the nanners remain secure - no outside invasions yesterday. After each test last night he'd go and hug one of them. too funny.

Hey Mannie, a kitty weekend getaway? On a tropical beach somewhere, where we can watch wildlife and play in the surf? Just what does Maggie have in mind? I'm in, whatever! We can grill seafood and chillax.

Hi Michelle! Good to hear that Clavamox is the right antibiotic; but too bad you have to give it for 3 weeks!!!! Make sure that you feed some yogurt with active cultures or put a probiotic like FortiFlora in Mannie's food. That will help keep his digestive tract from losing all of its beneficial bacteria.
Any plans to go hiking today? Enjoy whatever you decide to do.

Wow, 2 weeks. 10 days was bad enough for Tess, now i hope it was long enough. Good to see those greens last night, amazing the way he turned around even before you started the ABs.

Hi Ella - i think I may give the yogurt thing a try - he loves dairy, might just really likes that. I had meant to buy some yesterday, and of course forgot.... silly bean!

Hi Ann - i know on the turn around. it was almost like he knew that he'd told me he had a problem, and then began the fight, he getting down to business, let the AB's be that extra punch he needs to fight the infection. amazing critters cats are.

Nice! (Sorry Mannie).

He has been doing so amazing. It really is nice to see. I wish I could take Maverick for walks around the yard. He used to be able to go into the dog pen but then he was diagnosed with asthma.

Nice day so far for Mannie except for the pill thing. That sounds like such a long time to give an antiobiotic - yuck! Giving an insulin shot and testing bg is so much easier than trying to get a pill down a cat's throat. Hang in there! Have a great day. I love that Mannie needs an escort to the feeder -- maybe he thinks he is at a restaurant and needs to be shown to his table.

Yeeeah, Mannie! dancing_cat Sounds like he's coming through with no problems. Bummer about three weeks on the meds, though, but you're doing good- I love the score-keeping. Let's make it a total shutout, no score for Mannie Boy this time!

I agree about the yogurt to help him keep his friendly bacteria. AB's can be tough on the tummy. And it'll be easy since Mannie likes dairy. :-D The three weeks will be over before you know it. Surf well today, Mannie.


Mannie, duuude! I'm so in for the beach trip. I was hoping for someplace warm to get away from all this white stuff. I got my fuds and Mouse packed up, I'm ready to hit the islands and fish!

What a great cycle last night for Mannie! Hope he comes down again soon! Sorry you're on the clav for 3 weeks! Though, it seems willie has been on it since the dawn of time (okay, not quite). We're at least doing the pills, which makes it a bit easier (and less messy). At least they got you started on the right AB right away and you weren't stuck with one that wasn't really working at first! (yeah, my glasshalffullomometer is back working today! LOL).

Great cycle last night for Mannie and he's looking good this morning!!! How wonderful to have a cycle where you don't have to carb isn't it? I can just see Mannie scurrying around trying to fool the bean about meds :lol: :lol: :lol:

Hope you are planning on a nice day and have some sunshine today...when do you get to see Nicholas again?

Mannie...a tropical beach? Cool!!! Tobey and I are READY to go...can you come get us? This will be so much fun. I dug around my mamabean's closet and found some "kinis"....what do you think?

I had seen that photo some time ago, still as funny as it was then. and yes - the nice thing about last nights cycle was that i didn't have to go over 10% - heaven! and oh yeah on the meds. he has figured it out... :roll: Not too sure on when I will see Nicholas again - probably monday. I've been visiting about 3 times a week in an effort to get him used to me so that when I have babysitting duties in a few months when DD goes back to work he will be used to me.

Hi Christie - yep - 3 weeks (darn e coli!) - i am second guessing the choice of liquid, wondering if pills and pill pockets would have been less hazardous to my hands. :lol: :lol: well -we do OK, and can get the liquid into him without too much of a mess. so yes - lucky on the right med from the get go - been there before with that one....

Hi Violet - :lol: :lol: and so far the bean is winning. he is however getting better and craftier in his battle with the bean. and yes on the yogurt - i have to remember to buy some today: darn flaky bean who forgets things....

Sorry we're so late in visiting your condo. Maggie's Bean ran a quick errand and when I came home and tested, she was 76 bg on the AT. She needs another 70 to get a shaved dose I bet she's already had one but I missed it. Well, onto Mannie; what a night. I guess you didn't get any sleep. He is doing so good, and I'm so glad your Vet found the right antibiotic. Is the liquid antibiotic hard to get into Mannie? I've always pilled, but it would seem liquid would be easier to get down their throats as they are so good at hiding the pill.

Maggie is already and waiting to be picked up for the tropical island. All meters packed, too, Raja, too. Can't wait to eat some real food, as Maggie ses her Bean is starving her. I finally got a little grilled ff chicken, not much, after the 76 bg. See ya soon.

Hi Ann - the liquid isn't too bad, but you've got to be quick with the "squirt" - at least with Mannie. He really does not like anyone poking in his mouth etc, so it's a little bit of a challenge, but not too bad. I thought it might be better, since he will cheek the pills, and spit them out when he thinks he's got the all clear. :lol: Last night wasn't too bad - he has such an early shoot time, that the +6 is close to when I hit the bed anyways. last night though I did want a +8, so had to get up for that. all in all, i survived another one.... :lol: and WOW on the 76 AT - that is = to what a 50 (??) on the human meter? I know so little on the AT.

Maggie! SWEET! I am on my way to pick you up! I hear you gots some good fuds! that was me last night - it was turkey Florentine, and really good eatin'. YUM huh! Hey - it was so cool that you thought of a weekend get-away. Sorry for being MIA this afternoon, when I had really intended to visit everyone. My DD came over with DGS in tow, so we are hanging out. Mannie got to meet Nicholas. Out of the three cats he was the one that was curious, and came to check him out. As soon as I can download the pics I will post one.

Glad Mannie came down and so nice that you had a visit with DD and DGS. They don't stay little for long, so enjoy him. Can't wait to see the pics.

Hi Ann and Christie - So true that they don't stay small long... we had a nice time. It was good to see that none of the cats were afraid of the baby or aggressive or whatever. They all checked him out, sniffed from head to toe, and decided he was OK. Good since the little one will be staying with me when mom goes back to work.

I took a couple pf pics, not the best, but perhaps Mannie's interest and curiosity comes through. I hope the photo isn't too dark... I'll have to see if I can lighten it up and repost it tomorrow too...

Wow, Mannie! I know I said quickly, but wow!!

Pic is a little dark, but could be my monitor settings/placement as well. Will check it out on my phone in a bit!

My laptop is dark too - I installed a dimmer app on it yesterday. My eyes are too sensitive. Wonder what is going on in their heads when they are sniffing him and checking him out LOL. Glad they were all well behaved.

Your DGS is adorable, and so is Mannie the way he is looking at the baby. The pic is clear on my puter. I can see the baby and Mannie is slightly dark, but I can clearly see him, too. That's great the cats sniffed him out and gave their blessing, in a manner of speaking. Have a good night and hope Mannie will let you get some sleep. He came down quite a bit.

hi Christie and Karrie and Ann - i thought it may be too dark - well will see what i can do with it in the morning, brighten it up some. It's not the best pic either: missed the shot where Mannie decided to get up close and personal. so curious! They were looking at one another - a perfect photo, and I was camera-less! I too wonder what they are thinking when they sniff things like that..

well since Mannie is in dive mode I had better get another test. I hope it won't be along night....

Looks like someone talked to someone else at the beach party about diving!!! Naughty kittens!!! Gracie is right behind Mannie tonight so we'll see how it goes!

Awesome time at the beach today Mannie but I gots sand EVERYWHERE!!!! And Tobey is pooped out....he played way too much kitty frisbie today even for a kitten!
